SAO PAULO (Reuters) - The H1N1 bird flu has killed at least 487 deaths in the country, according to data from state departments of Health

Friday, Sao Paulo updated the data and sum up 179 deaths. The state is the worst affected in the country.

Were also confirmed new deaths in Paran? (142 deaths), in Rio Grande do Sul (93), in Rio de Janeiro (47) and Santa Catarina (11), State during an emergency by the disease since August 3.

Minas Gerais has six deaths and Para?ba, two, according to state departments of Health

Amazonas, Bahia, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso do Sul, Par?, Pernambuco and Paran? had one death each.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health issued new stock of flu in the country and found that the decrease in the absolute number of serious cases by the new virus last week may be a sign of retreat from primary disease in the country.

At that time, Brazil was the third largest number of deaths by the new flu in the world, behind the United States and Argentina, but ahead of Mexico, the epicenter of the global pandemic of the disease.

The new flu killed two more children in the region. In Ribeirao Preto, a girl of 8 years died on Friday (21) Hospital das Clinicas. In Campinas, the victim confirmed Friday is a boy, but the exact age was not disclosed. According to the Department of Health, he had between 5 and 9 years and died ten days ago. The boy was hospitalized in a private hospital and had another disease before the flu.

With these confirmations, the number of fatal victims of Influenza A (H1N1) grew to 12 in Campinas. In the region of Campinas, deaths caused by the disease have already reached 38.

In Ribeirao Preto is the second recorded death - the first, also a boy of 11 years, was confirmed on Monday. In the region of Ribeir?o, the death toll rose to three.

The Departments of Health of Sao Paulo, Parana, Rio and Rio Grande do Sul confirmed on Friday, a total of 81 more deaths due to the swine flu - influenza A (H1N1). Emergency

The city of Florian?polis (SC) ordered this week state of emergency to contain the spread of influenza A (H1N1) in the city. According to the Secretary of Health of Florianopolis, the measure aims to prevent the spread of the virus in the city, considered an important national tourist pole.

The case was supposed to be the first death from suspected influenza A in Joinville is in the midst of a controversy.

A woman of 46 years died of suspected new bird flu on the morning of Saturday (22), in Sorocaba, Ribeir?o Preto. The victim, who was Martel began to feel ill on Monday (17) and was taken to hospital. The influenza A/H1N1 has already caused at least 487 deaths in Brazil, according to data released by state health departments.

On Friday, Sao Paulo updated its statistics and reported that 179 deaths add deaths there. It is the state most affected by the disease in the country.

SAO PAULO - The Health Secretariat of Ribeir?o Preto, 330 kilometers from the state capital, confirmed the third death from bird flu in the new municipality. The victim is a man of 23 years who was hospitalized for a month because of illness. PORTO ALEGRE - Rio Grande do Sul has 94 total casualties for the new flu, according to information released by the State Secretary of Health of Rio Grande do Sul on Monday, was recorded over a death in the city of Caxias do Sul, the day August 22. It was the second confirmed death from swine flu in Mato Grosso do Sul State is a Douradense of 31 years who died on 19th of this month, according to recently released report by the Municipal Health Secretariat of Dourados.

According to Roberto Oliveira, an epidemiologist at the Center for Epidemiological Surveillance of the municipality, death due to infection by the influenza A (H1N1) was confirmed by examination of the Adolfo Lutz (S?o Paulo), sent Monday to Dourados.

The death of Douradense is second from the swine flu confirmed in Mato Grosso do Sul's first confirmed victim of the disease was a public servant Ana Paula Elias Guinda, 24, who lives in Tr?s Lagoas. She presented the first symptoms on July 20, was hospitalized and died on 3rd of this month. The confirmation took place on the 18th.

Rio Grande do Norte confirms first death by the new flu

State has recorded 31 cases of the disease.
RS and RJ also confirmed deaths on Monday.

The Secretariat of Health of Rio Grande do Norte confirmed on Monday (24), the first death caused by new flu. The state has recorded 31 cases of the disease.


The victim, who was not named, died on August 15 at the Hospital Walfredo Gurgel, Natal. The patient began to show symptoms on 7 August and was hospitalized on 14, with respiratory complications. Curitiba - Paran? State has recorded 154 deaths caused by influenza A (H1N1), known as swine flu. Rio de Janeiro has two more deaths from swine flu

The Health Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro today confirmed two more deaths of patients infected with influenza A (H1N1) swine influenza. With these deaths, the state register, so far, 49 deaths, all confirmed by laboratory of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz).

Belo Horizonte seventh confirmed death from swine flu in MG

The Municipal Secretariat of Health of Belo Horizonte confirmed on Monday the seventh death from swine flu in the state. A pregnant 26-year old who was admitted to the ICU of Mater Dei Hospital since July 28, died on Sunday. The delivery was made before the death of the mother and child is doing well.

SAO PAULO - A resident of Socorro, 121 kilometers from Sao Paulo, is the 39th fatal victim of the new swine flu in the region of Campinas. The victim, aged 34, was hospitalized at the Hospital of Unicamp and died on Thursday. She had leukemia, and so was the risk group. It is the second case of death by disease in Socorro, which has already confirmed four cases of influenza. Throughout the region of Campinas, are already 409 confirmed cases of people who contracted the Influenza A (H1N1). Campinas leads in deaths in the region.

The swine flu was the third fatal victim in Ribeirão, last Saturday. The 23-year-old who had poor health for neurological problems, was the first adult to die of the disease in the city.

According to the Health Department of Ribeirão, he was a bedridden patient who lived and was hospitalized because of influenza fever for 30 days. The couple contracted the disease in the entity that takes care of special children, where it was recorded outbreak of swine flu. The site already had one fatality, a boy of 11 years.

In the early hours of last Thursday, the second victim died of swine flu in Ribeirao, a girl of 8 years. She came to be hospitalized for seven days at the Hospital das Clinicas.

After complaints from the family of the girl, that would neglect the care, the Health Secretary, Carla Palhares, announced syndication. Monday managers of health units passed by the third training to meet the possible victims of the new flu.

New cases

The Department of Health confirmed yesterday the eighth death caused by influenza A in Maring?. The victim is the constructor Francisco Dias, 49, who lives in the Parque das Laranjeiras, northern area. He spent 15 days hospitalized and died on Sunday. In Parana, the flu killed 154, according to the epidemiological bulletin published yesterday.

The municipal secretary, Antonio Carlos Nardi, subtract the two deaths on the list of Maring? remains. At a news conference on Friday, he announced that two patients would have gone by residents of Maring? to obtain treatment in the city - the victims were of Ngara and Sarandi.

In Parana state, bordering Argentina and Paraguay, the death toll rose to 154 yesterday, confirming the health authorities another 12 fatalities.
