3rd death confirmed in Sorocaba (Sao Paulo state)

The Epidemiological Surveillance of Sorocaba confirmed the third death in the city caused by new influenza, informed the City Health Department Confirmation came with the lab exam in the early evening of Monday (24). This is a female person, with 56 years of age who had complications in the context of avian influenza virus (AH1N1) and died on August 18. The patient belonged to the group at risk for hypertension and heart disease.

Number of swine flu deaths rises to 12 in Minas

Up to 12 the number of deaths with influenza A H1N1, swine flu, in Minas Gerais. The results of examinations made by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation were released this Tuesday by the State Department of Health

The Departments of Health of Minas Gerais and Santa Catarina confirmed on Tuesday further deaths as a result of swine flu. Marrí confirms 1st case of swine flu fatal

The 12th confirmed death from influenza A in Santa Catarina
Boy of 17 years died in Florianópolis on August 11

The Health Department of Santa Catarina confirmed Tuesday, the 12th death from influenza A in the state. The victim is a boy of 17 years, resident of Florianopolis, in Florianópolis, who died in the Hospital Celso Ramos, Florianópolis.

The new bulletin of the Section of Epidemiological Surveillance (Seviep) of the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS), announced that the City has, since April 30, 53 confirmed cases of avian influenza A (H1N1) swine influenza in residents in Santos, including two deaths.

Laboratory tests are conducted by the Institute Adolfo Lutz, the State Department of Health are currently under monitoring, 83 patients of Influenza and Severe Acute Respiratory Disease. Of these, 25 are presently hospitalized in the city. The remainder (58) remains in isolation at home, accompanied daily by technicians Seviep. The SMS is still awaiting the results of 105 tests.

Girl dies of 6 years in Sao Bernardo do Campo (SP) as a result of new flu

Patient Cruzeiro do Sul died after presenting acute respiratory failure

SAO PAULO - A 2-year-old died, a victim of swine flu, in Manaus. This is the second confirmed death from the disease in the Amazon. Brazil is the country with most killed by the new flu, says Health

The Health Ministry confirmed on Wednesday (26) that 557 people died in the country due to Influenza A (H1N1), known as swine flu. Among the states with the highest number of deaths are Sao Paulo, with 223 confirmed deaths (40% of total), Rio de Janeiro, with 151 deaths (27.1%), Rio Grande do Sul, with 98 fatalities (17.6%) and Rio de Janeiro with 55 (9.9%).

With the confirmation of new deaths, Brazil surpassed the United States and became the country with most deaths caused by disease in the world. However, if one takes into account the mortality rate - the ratio between deaths and population in the population - Brazil is in seventh place behind Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Paraguay and Australia.

No more than 98 deaths in Rio Grande do Sul

Two more deaths were confirmed late on Wednesday.
Victims are two women, 35 and 46 years.

The Department of Health of Rio Grande do Sul confirmed late on Wednesday (26), plus two new deaths from the flu. Altogether there have been 98 deaths from the disease in the state. The victims are two women, 35 and 46 years.

One woman died in Julesburg (RS), on July 21. She was 35 years old and had no preexisting conditions. The other victim, aged 46, died in Caxias do Sul (RS), on 1 August. She was overweight.

On the morning of Tuesday, the health department, the state had confirmed the deaths of two people. The victims were a man of 42, who died in Passo Fundo (RS), on August 4 and had hypertension, and another 27 year old man, who worked as a hotel receptionist, had no preexisting conditions and died on 24 August, in Caxias do Sul (RS).


Other states

The Government confirmed the Amazon in Manaus, the diagnosis of a boy of 2 years, who died on August 18. The child began to show symptoms at 12 days and was taken to the hospital on day 15, already in serious condition. She was admitted to the ICU. It was the second death in the state because of illness.

In Paran?, the Health Department said, also on Wednesday, which comes to 170 the number of deaths caused by new flu. According to the official report, 12 more deaths caused by the disease were confirmed in the state.

The state Department of Health, Rio confirmed another death caused by new flu. In total, 50 people died from the disease in the state. the new victim is a woman, 42, a resident of Rio She suffered from heart problems.

The Health Ministry said Wednesday in a statement that Brazil already has the biggest number of people killed by the new flu. Until the 22th day of August, 557 deaths were observed by the H1N1 virus. According to the report, however, the mortality rate in Brazil (0.29) is lower than in six other countries. Health Department confirms second death from swine flu in the capital

The Secretariat of the Federal District has confirmed through a statement issued on Thursday (26), the second death from influenza A (H1N1) in the DF.

More details will be informed during a press conference to be held this Thursday (27), with the assistant secretary of health, Florencio Cavalcante and Under Secretary of surveillance Disney Antezana.

With 557 deaths, Brazil is already the country with more deaths reported as a result of swine flu.

Second victim of the new flu in DF is a boy under 12 years


The Health Department informed the Federal District, on Thursday (27 / 8), the second victim of the influenza A (H1N1) died in the federal capital in a public hospital on Monday.

According to the Secretary of Epidemiological Surveillance, Disney Antezana, a laboratory test confirmed the infection. The result came in the final on August 14. The under secretary said only that a person is under 12 years old, male and had a risk factor, without giving further details.

The second death by influenza A in the DF was released yesterday by the Ministry of Health epidemiological bulletin of the body 577 also registers the new flu deaths in Brazil. Thus, the country has the largest number of deaths caused by disease, followed by the United States, with 522, and Argentina, which reports 439.
