If I'm not mistaken, the total for Brazil is now 379. Post 125 shows an official total of 368; however, there are only 68 in Rio Grande do Sul, while Post 124 indicates that there are 78 in Rio Grande do Sul. Also, I don't believe the official total includes the recently reported death in Mato Grosso do Sul.

SAO PAULO (Reuters) - The Amazon has confirmed the first victim of H1N1 influenza in the state this Thursday and the number of people killed by the new disease in the country reached 422, according to data compiled from information from state departments of Health

The victim of the Amazon is a woman of 58 years that fell in the group at risk for being obese, informed the State Department of Health According to the Ministry of Health, pregnant women, elderly and obese are among those at risk, and patients of other diseases.

On Tuesday, the ministry announced a new stock of flu in the country, where 368 confirmed deaths until August 15. However, updated data from state departments of Health account for 422 deaths.

The federal agency, S?o Paulo is the most affected, with 151 deaths. Rio de Janeiro had 45 deaths according to the ministry, but the State Department confirmed to Reuters the death of only 43 patients.

The Ministry of Health found that the decrease in the absolute number of serious cases by the new virus in the last week can be a preliminary indication that the disease may be back in the country.

Brazil follows as the third country with the highest number of deaths by disease in the world, behind the United States and Argentina, but ahead of Mexico, the epicenter of the new global pandemic influenza.

According to state health departments, were also confirmed deaths in Paran? (119), Rio Grande do Sul (84), Santa Catarina (10), Minas Gerais (6) and Para?ba (2). Bahia, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso do Sul, Par?, Pernambuco and Roraima had one death each.

Pregnant Woman dies 22 years of swine flu in Maharashtra

SAO PAULO - A pregnant woman of 22 years died of swine flu in Minas Gerais. According to the State Department of Health, the woman lived in Barroso, but died in Barbacena on August 5. The baby did not survive. So far, eight miners died of influenza A (H1N1). Two of them died in Olinda in Recife and Campinas, in Sao Paulo. The state has 211 confirmed cases of swine flu.

Among the dead is another woman aged 22 who died in Uberlandia on August 14, a man of 54 who died in Jaipur on August 5 and a man of 34 years who died on February 2 in Ituiutaba. On July 30 killed one woman of 44 years in Porto Alegre on 27 and a woman of 25 years who died in Betim.

To diagnose the infection, a respiratory specimen must be collected in four or five first days of illness, when the infected person spreads the virus, and examined in the laboratory.

The flu Tamiflu and Relenza, are already used against avian influenza, are effective against the H1N1 strain, according to laboratory tests, and seem to have given a practical result, according to the Centers for Disease Control in the United States.

Of the 2480 confirmed cases, 142 had complications and died as equivalent to 5%. Of the total of confirmed deaths, 53% were women and 47% men. With respect to age, 64% were between 20 and 49 years and 20% were between 49 and 59 years.

The deaths occurred between 14 July and 20 August, however, required the laboratory result to be confirmed. Central Laboratory of the State (Lacen) reports that on Sunday (23) resets the queue awaiting examination report.

SAO PAULO - The State Center for Health Monitoring, Rio Grande do Sul confirmed nine deaths caused by swine influenza in the state. The deaths occurred between July 21 and August 21 in the cities of San Gabriel, Santa Maria, Cachoeira do Sul, Rio Grande, Gramado, Santa Rosa, Niteroi, and Caxias do Sul Passo Fundo. All the victims were adults and one of them was pregnant. Now, Rio Grande do Sul sum 93 killed by influenza A.

The patient was hospitalized at San Francisco, Concordia (SC). He presented the first symptoms on July 28, was hospitalized on August 5 and died on Monday, August 17th.
In the state, have been confirmed 199 cases of the disease.

SAO PAULO - The Health Secretariat of Sao Paulo confirmed on Friday killed over 45 people for flu, bringing the number of deaths in the state to 179. The deaths occurred between days 14 and 21 August. The list contained two women and eight children, five with one year of age. Not all the victims had serious health problems.

Swine flu may have killed 5 people in 3 days at HU Dourados (Matto Grosso do Sul)

Hours after release bulletin, the Department of Health Dourados recorded another death in the University Hospital of the city on suspicion of swine flu. A woman of 50 years, Amambai, had been hospitalized since November 13. Now we are five dead in just three days in HU-MS.

Besides this woman, another patient, a man of 45 years, not living in Dourados, was Navira?, was taken for medical treatment in the city and died yesterday. This patient was not collected material for examination.

Among the three deaths investigated in Dourados is the girl of four years of age who died this morning at University Hospital. The other deaths occurred 18 days, a boy of 23 years and 19 days, a man of 31 years of age. All were hospitalized at University Hospital.

In Campo Grande, according to Health Secretary of the council, Eric Tayag, also killed four people suspected of swine flu, but has already left the outcome of a patient exam, and was negative. So being investigated three cases.

Also in Ponta Pora one death is being investigated and another in Amambai. For now, it is confirmed only the death of teacher Ana Paula, Three Ponds, the first victim of swine influenza in the state, who died earlier this month.

SP and Rio confirmed 49 deaths from flu fever; country has 464

The Departments of Health of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro issued new balance with the number of deaths caused by swine flu in the States. According to the data, in Sao Paulo were confirmed 45 more deaths, while in Rio, four more deaths were recorded. With this brings to 464 the number of fatal victims of swine influenza in Brazil.
