Covid-19 update in Chile: 77,961 infected and 806 deceased

According to what was reported this morning by the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, at 9:00 pm yesterday, 3,964 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in our country, for a total of 77,961 infected.

Based on the daily breakdown, there are 3,618 new cases with symptoms and 346 documented with positive PCR.

Likewise, 45 new deaths were added, reaching the unfortunate figure of 806 deaths as a result of this pandemic.

30,915 people have recovered, while 1,202 are in an Intensive Care Unit. Of these, 1,029 are connected to a mechanical fan, while 229 are in critical condition.

The authority also called for the "solidarity and collaboration" of citizens to respect health standards.

According to what was reported this morning by the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, at 21 hours yesterday, 4,328 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in our country, for a total of 82,289 infected.

Based on the daily breakdown, there are 3,956 new cases with symptoms and 372 documented with positive PCR.

Likewise, 35 new deaths were added, reaching the unfortunate figure of 841 deaths as a result of this pandemic.

33,540 people have recovered, while 1,251 are in an Intensive Care Unit. Of these, 1,048 are connected to a mechanical fan.

Santiago de Chile, May 29 (EFE) .- Chile registered 54 deaths of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, which represents a new record and brings the total death toll to 944, while it accounted for another 3,698 infections, placing the total figure at 90,638, of which 38,598 have recovered, the Ministry of Health reported on Friday.

The new methodology that the Government follows to count deaths is based on crossing the information from the Civil Registry with the positive results of the PCR exams, which is why it reports the deaths of several previous days and not the last 24 hours.

As for the new infections, the undersecretary of Healthcare Networks, Arturo Z??iga, commented that 6,217 of the patients presented symptoms, while the remaining 537 were asymptomatic. The number of active cases reached 26 618 people.
