Post pandemic transport: Government "will close streets" to achieve social distancing at critical points
The Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Gloria Hutt, assured that a plan for the operation of the public transport system is already being worked on for when the cities begin to be unconfident.
In this sense, she assured 24 AM that it is a series of measures that were observed in different countries that have already passed that stage, so they are evaluating and analyzing what is best for local reality.
Despite this, she explained that they will be focused on "reorganizing the urban space, taking tracks to expand the space for the circulation of pedestrians", this in the sectors of greater agration, in order to achieve social distancing.
"We are preparing the use of demarcations, identifying the points where we need to activate pedestrian routes, closing streets, for example, to allocate them to human trafficking. It is a fairly comprehensive plan, to reorganize the space based on this new need," he added. .
On the other hand, she explained that on RED buses, for example, distance is also needed, and faster routes are necessary, which would be achieved by taking more tracks for exclusive use.
"We are preparing a plan, but we have no idea when it will be implemented," he said.
Campaign to reinforce hygiene measures in the Metro
In the same context, the minister participated this Thursday in the launch of a campaign in the Santiago Metro, to reinforce passenger hygiene measures.
"We do not have to loosen any of the most basic measures and that is what this campaign is aiming at: reinforcing hand washing, the use of masks, and we maintain sanitation and long-lasting biotechnology elements," he stressed.
On the other hand, she specified that posters were installed in more than 30 subway trains, to remember what measures must always be present.
Lastly, she emphasized that "the use of a mask on public transport has been highly respected by people."
In this same sense, the president of Metro, Louis de Grange, emphasized that the mask is one of the main means by which infections can be avoided, so it is necessary that it become a habit for all passengers.
