-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------
Among 15 countries with the largest number of deaths, Brazil has the 6th highest rate of mortality, calculated in terms of population: 0.34 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants. Surpass Brazil in this regard Argentina (1.15), Chile, Costa Rica, Australia and Paraguay. One has to be careful when viewing the numbers. There are delays in confirmation of cases...so it is possible that a person died in early August or earlier and it is only being reported now.

Patients with swine flu suffer prejudice

Hearing in the Assembly notes that Marist College students are discriminated against because of the outbreak and suggests campaign
Luciane Evans - State of Minas

Cristina Horta / MS / D.A Press
Father of students from Marist, Eduardo Gomes (E) had problems at work

There were high fever, cough or even the continued isolation of seven days. Who has the swine flu realized that the worst of the virus are the looks of panic and discrimination. Thus, evil silent, which gained momentum in Brazil and has recorded 647 deaths, brought prejudice. The community of Marist College Dom Silverio understands the subject very well. Protagonists of an outbreak, which began in July in a classroom and infected 56 people, including staff, students, family and friends, pupils yesterday at the request of the school board for a discussion of the Commission on Human Legislative Assembly of Ontario, which decided to surrender today to the State Committee to Combat Human Influenza A (H1N1) suggestion to create educational campaigns about the virus, in which prejudice is addressed.

"A taxi driver refused to answer a call from a student because he was the Dom Silverio. When an officer sat on the bus with the school uniform a passenger who was on hand rose and no one sat next to him. A company that provides service to us was able to call us from Mexico City demanding that we ensure that their employees would not get the flu. We focus for such discrimination, "said the director of Dom Silverio, Roberto Gameiro, who lamented the situation experienced by the school community and the students' families.

One of those infected by the virus, the student Diogo Carvalho, 16, said he lives in the building where some neighbors asked him to leave the building. Barbara Souza Ferreira, 15, a student of 1st year of high school, said that even in the salon suffered discrimination. "When other clients know that I am a student of Don Silverio, withdrew from the hall. This happened last week. For more information there all the time in the media, people still feel fear of the disease and do not know much about it. A public hearing like this is essential to clarify the matter. "

And prejudice is not limited to the school community. The electrical engineer Eduardo Gomes, father of two children in college, recalled that when the outbreak of the disease at school, co-workers showed fear in talking to him. "Back then, people knew very little about the virus, so do not say that there was prejudice, but fear of something unknown," he said.

Balance

According to the balance of the Ministry of Health with laboratory confirmation between 23 and 29 August, 647 people have died in Brazil for swine flu. The number making Brazil the world leader in cases of deaths caused by the disease through even the United States that record 556 deaths. A total of 2933 women of childbearing age (15 to 49 years) tested positive for the new virus and developed a severe form of the disease. Of these, 620 were pregnant. Among pregnant women, 63 died.

In Minas, are already 24 confirmed deaths, with the latter two receiving positive diagnosis of the disease are a 15-year-old New Lima, in Norwich, who died on the 19th, and a woman, 47 of Ce in Upper Parana?ba, who died on day 2. Of those killed in Minas Gerais, 50% are female and three of them pregnant.
Yesterday, the State Department of Health said it would decentralize the dispensing of oseltamivir to count, Betim, Ribeir?o das Neves, Hutsell and Ouro Preto.

Tamiflu

The Federal Regional Court of the 1st region recognized that the distribution of the drug for swine flu, called Tamiflu, it is for the state, it is not for interference of the judiciary in the matter. With the understanding, the TRF has released the state to provide 300 bottles of the medicine to the city of Uberl?ndia, in the Triangle, and 50 bottles per capita to 14 cities in the region.

State prosecutors explained that Minas has fueled the 28 regional departments of health, four of them in the Triangulo Mineiro.

Confirmed 43 cases of swine flu in MS, with 6 deaths, 161 suspected
(Mato Grosso do Sul state)

Prestes

Bulletin issued today by the Department of Health shows that the swine flu has spread to more than half the municipalities in the state, up to 43 confirmed cases of the disease. Of these, six died. Other 161 patients are awaiting test results to see whether they were infected by the disease. One of the patients who had the confirmation of Sao Paulo, figure in the statistics because it was served in the State.

Last week the State Department of Health confirmed only 17 cases with two deaths, while 170 were considered suspect. Now the disease has reported cases in 38 municipalities. Campo Grande registers only 76 suspected cases, 17 confirmed, with two deaths.

The data show that the H1N1 is the main agent of influenza, which accounts for two out of three cases of the disease. The seasonal influenza only had 17 confirmed cases.

The Secretariat does not report how many deaths are under investigation, only those already confirmed. Are two in Campo Grande, which had been released last week, two in Tr?s Lagoas, a person of Fatima do Sul and one of Dourados. In the Capital, the Municipal Secretariat of Health reported that four other deaths were among the suspected cases.

Vaccine

While a vaccine for H1N1 is not produced, the municipality of Campo Grande delivers doses of a homeopathic remedy that increases the immunity and make the body more resistant to flu. The doses are available in clinics (at least 24 hours), have been applied to public school students and from today, also among children in private schools.

The Municipal Health Department maintained the ban on the presence of children in the parade on September 7, in commemoration of the Independence of Brazil. The concern is with the agglomeration of people formed to watch the parade. Therefore, the Health Department recommends that parents not take their children to the boardwalk that day.

Pregnancy can be the 3rd fatality from the disease in the DF
This would be first death of pregnant as a result of the influenza virus H1N1 in the federal capital

A pregnant woman died yesterday in the Federal District, with suspected Influenza A (H1N1), popularly known as swine flu. The information was passed by the Department of Health, which did not disclose more information about the case. If the diagnosis is confirmed, this will be the third death from bird flu in new DF and the first in a pregnant woman.

According to the victim's family, the young, 26, received treatment at the Regional Hospital Brazl?ndia (HRBraz) on Sunday presented a high fever and cough. But doctors diagnosed a urinary tract infection and the patient remained hospitalized until Tuesday. The next day, the woman fell ill again and returned to the hospital, but could not resist.

When contacted by the report of the Collective, the HRBraz did not rule on the case. According to a spokesperson of the Department of Health, the information will be released only after the examination results, which usually arrive in Bras?lia in about a week.

The balance of the Ministry of Health on the new flu shows that the number of deaths of pregnant women in the country reaches 63 the total of 657 deaths. Despite the high number of cases, MS confirmed that there is downward trend in circulation of the new virus and the occurrence of severe cases. Last week, the Secretary for Health, Florencio Cavalcante, said he had the impression that he was reducing the number of patients with symptoms of the disease who sought care in emergency rooms of public health units. Have been 300 confirmed cases in the DF.

Even with a possible decrease in demand, the department signed an emergency contract to increase the number of vehicles responsible for the service of transporting patients between health centers and regional hospitals, in order to expedite service.
