A team from the World Health Organisation (WHO) will reach Islamabad Sunday, and suggest measures to control the epidemic, Xinhua reported citing a statement.

A TV channel reported that the toll from dengue reached 102 in Punjab province, the worst affected region.

LAHORE/KARACHI: At least 14 more persons died of dengue fever in Lahore, with one more dead in Karachi on Saturday.
In Lahore, 30-year-old elite force official Jehanzeb died of dengue. He was serving in the chief minister?s squad. 42-year-old Rukhsana of Mian Mir Colony was admitted into Services Hospital seven days ago where she died at night between Friday and Saturday. She was the mother of three.
22-year-old Ayaz Bhatti of Gulshan Ravi also lost the battle against dengue at Services Hospital. A woman, Sardaran Bibi, 60, who was under treatment at Gangaram Hospital also died from dengue fever.
Three deaths were reported in Mayo hospital where Sohail, 22, of Chungi, Liaqat of Band Road and Sameera, 20, of Kala Khatai died early this morning.
Razia Bibi, 45, of Nishtar Colony, Faizan, 22, of Garhi Shahu, Irshad Bibi, 35, of Cantt, Fauzia, 5, Sunny Iqbal, 22, Arshad, 45, and Tufail, 75, also succumbed to the virus.

The Sindh Dengue Surveillance Cell told Daily Times that the 32-year-old housewife, resident of Dastgir area of FB Area, had been admitted in a private hospital from September18.

Another patient died of the deadly dengue viral fever at a private hospital on Saturday, bringing the death toll from the epidemic to five in Sindh and four in Karachi during September alone, the Sindh Dengue Surveillance Cell said.

The 32-year-old married woman, who had two children, was admitted to the hospital on September 18 with a high fever and other symptoms of viral hemorrhagic fever, and on Thursday last week, the hospital carried out medical examinations for the dengue fever, which appeared positive.

Dengue patients are on the rise as 15 new cases were confirmed in Rawalpindi on Saturday, taking the total up to 79, it has been learnt.

Sources in BBH said that a man died on Saturday due to high fever and was suspected of suffering from dengue. However, this was not confirmed by hospital officials. Dr Javaid Hayat, the spokesperson for the three hospitals on dengue, was unaware of any death owing to the dengue fever.

LAHORE/PESHAWAR: At least 12 more people, including five women, died of dengue fever across the country on Sunday.

Several other dengue patients who are under special care in various hospitals are said to be in serious condition.

Despite all out efforts by the government, the dengue mosquito and virus are not coming under control and more patients are perishing with every passing day in Lahore and other parts of the country.

Those who died in Lahore are, Asmat Iqbal, 29, from Jehanzeb Block Iqbal Town, Sobia Shahnaz, 28, from Nawab Colony Misri Shah, Naheed Bibi, 50, from Walled City, Shakila, 60, Samera, 22, Taj Din, 28, from Badami Bagh, Mohiuddin, 65, Asalm Iqbal, 29, Younis, 50, Azmat, 46, died in different hospitals while Muhammad Rafique, 35, breathed his last at a private hospital in Shah Faisal Town.

Another woman died of dengue virus in Mardan raising the death toll from the disease to six in the city.

According to the Punjab Health Department, 434 were tested positive for dengue from across the province and out of these 379 were from Lahore. So far, 10,215 dengue cases have been reported from Punjab and out of these 9,148 belong to Lahore. 9,781 patients have recovered so far. At present 278 patients are under treatment at various hospitals whereas 148 are under treatment in Lahore. According to the officials, ten persons died due to dengue fever in Lahore during the last 24 hours.

Dengue spreads across Punjab; Bahawalpur, Multan worst-hit

LAHORE: After smashing Lahore, the dengue virus has begun its journey across Punjab. The Multan Health Department teams have confirmed 68 more patients tested positive for dengue, of which 33 were from Multan.

The officials admitted that blood screening had confirmed 68 dengue fever patients out of a total of 113 reported cases.

According to reports, one patient succumbed to dengue in Bahawalpur. Ten patients suffering from dengue are currently under treatment in the Bahawal Victoria Hospital while 12 had been discharged after successful treatment.

Some 22 more patients were tested positive for dengue viral fever in Sindh on Tuesday, including 19 in Karachi alone, making the total number of people infected with the viral disease to 382, including 324 in Karachi, the Provincial Dengue Surveillance Cell said.

A woman died on Monday due to dengue haemorrhagic fever at a private hospital, family sources said. However, the Dengue Surveillance Cell said that they had not received any such report.

According to the cell, five patients have so far died due to dengue haemorrhagic fever in the province, including four in Karachi, all in the current month of September.

LAHORE: Six more people died of the Dengue fever including PML-N MPA Mumtaz Ahmed Jajja, a private television news channel reported on Thursday.

Jajja was being treated for Dengue at the Jinnah Hospital and was admitted in the ICU three days ago. According to Jinnah Hospital Chief Executive Dr. Akram, all efforts were made to save Jajja.

The death toll from the virus rose to 112 in the city. In Punjab 11,584 cases of Dengue have been reported out of which 10,244 are in Lahore.

This is the lowest current estimate for Punjab (see the two reports immediately above). At least 11 fatalities have also occurred in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

LAHORE: According to information, four patients died of dengue fever in the city on Sunday, bringing this season's death toll to 162 in the provincial metropolis.

According to details obtained through independent sources, out of four deaths reported in the city, two patients including Saleem, 23, resident of GOR-II, and Khursheed, resident of Sanda, died due to dengue fever in Ganga Ram Hospital, Sarwar Bibi, 50, resident of Gujranwala, died in Mayo Hospital, and Shahnaz, 60, resident of Walton, died of dengue fever in Lahore General Hospital.

Besides, 549 patients have been tested dengue positive on Sunday, taking the tally of patients to 21,942 in Lahore alone. KARACHI (PPI): A high level meeting, chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, here last evening, was informed that the outbreak of dengue fever cannot be controlled just by fumigation. ?It?s a social issue that could be controlled by joint efforts of community and the government, and not through spraying insecticides alone,? provincial secretary, health department Rizwan Ahmed told the meeting held at Chief Minister?s House. Health secretary informed the meeting that a total of 4072 dengue fever cases were reported in Sindh during 2010 and of them 25 patients? death was reported while this year 436 cases have been reported up to September 30 with only five deaths. All the five casualties due to dengue fever occurred in Karachi alone, he said adding that the number of dengue cases in Karachi was 370, 3 in Larkana, one in Dadu, 8 in Ghotki, 17 in Hyderabad, one each in Jamshoro and Khairpur, four in Naushehro Feroze, two each in Nawabshah and Sanghar, 04 in Sukkur, 19 in Tando Muhammad Khan and two each in Tando Allahyar and Umerkot.

Farhat Begum, 35 of Chamra Mandi was under treatment at Mayo Hospital where she passed away while 27-year-old Zuberia of Township lost her battle against dengue fever. Shakeela, 26, of Gujranwala and Rafaqat Bibi, 60 of Bund Road succumbed to dengue fever. At least 143 of the total deaths in Punjab have reportedly occurred in Lahore alone. Five people lost their lives to dengue virus on Tuesday, while the cause of death of three people who passed away on September 28 was confirmed to be dengue. Arif, 28, Abida, 25, of Gujranwala and Muhammad Ali, 80, died of the deadly fever at Mayo Hospital.
Sarwar, 70 and Aalia, 45, died at Services Hospital. The number of daily patients contracting fever has fallen to a little extent, as 278 cases were confirmed to have infected with the disease. The Indonesian medical team interacted with the PDMA and Rescue 1122 officials to share their expertise with them regarding management of the epidemic. Meanwhile, six new dengue patients were admitted to Nishtar Hospital Multan after which the number of dengue fever cases in the city has reached 56.
Dengue also continued to spread in Faisalabad, with the number of patients in the city rising to 858.

LAHORE: Dengue claimed nine more lives in Lahore on Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 186 in the city.

Five people succumbed to the virus at Mayo Hospital, a plastic surgeon died at Surgimed Hospital and a woman passed away at Services Hospital.

According to sources, Bilal, 50, of Green Town, Umar Farooq, 20, of Muridke, Mujahid, 45, of Mardan, Azam Nazir, 50, of Raj Garh, Usman Akram, 32, of Icchra, Khalid, 36, of Tajpura, Majeed Bibi, 60, of Ghazi Road, Dr Rashid Qureshi, 45, and Madeeha passed away in different hospitals of the provincial capital.

The deadly dengue fever on Thursday took lives of four more patients in Lahore, with death toll from the mosquito-infected disease to 159 in the city alone, medical officials said.
The death from dengue fever is rampant in Punjab day by day as the fever has gripped several more districts in the province.
Usman, 50; Babar Nazeer, 40; Riaz, 70 and Azeem Begum of Mughalpura were among the dead on Thursday morning.

Dengue death toll reaches 176 with more deaths in Lahore

LAHORE: Dengue claimed six more lives in Lahore, bringing the total death toll in Punjab to 176, Express 24/7 reported on Thursday.

Ro's interpretation: Lahore has seen around 160 fatalities, Punjab an additional 16-20, with 12 fatalities occurring outside Punjab bringing the total to somewhere between 185 - 195.
