[h=1]H1N1 kills 3 more, 54 new cases diagnosed[/h] Hyderabad: Three patients died due to H1N1 at Gandhi Hospital on Tuesday taking the death toll to 29 in the state. A 36-year-old from Ghatkesar, a 40-year-old from Champapet in Ranga Reddy district and a 54-year-old from Nalgonda died on Tuesday. They were all being treated at the Gandhi Hospital. Meanwhile, 54 new cases were diagnosed on Tuesday taking the total number of cases to 494. Twin daughters of one head constable of the Special Protection Force were admitted to the Gandhi paediatric ward on Tuesday. The two girls were undergoing treatment at a private hospital, but despite high fever, their blood samples were not tested till January 25. After the results came positive, the worried father rushed the girls to Gandhi Hospital for further treatment. People who had come to the city for work from Rajasthan and Karnataka have also tested positive for H1N1 and are undergoing treatment in private hospitals.

HYDERABAD: Four people died of swine flu in Telangana as the H1N1 virus continued to spread across the state especially among medical staff with 10 of them infected on Tuesday.

The H1N1 virus has found an easy prey in medical community with two dozen hospitalized after accidentally coming into contact with infected swine flu patients.

On Tuesday, 54 people tested positive for the virus taking the total number of positive cases to 491.

[h=1]Andhra Pradesh reports two swine flu deaths, 24 cases[/h] Hyderabad: Swine flu, which has so far claimed 25 lives in Telangana, is also spreading in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, as the state Wednesday reported two deaths and 24 positive cases.
This was revealed by Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas to reporters in Ongole, around 320 km from Hyderabad.
A pregnant woman in Anantapur district has tested positive for H1N1 influenza, while four suspected cases were also reported in Anantapur, Chittoor and Visakhapatnam districts.
The pregnant woman is in critical condition and currently on ventilator in a government hospital in Anantapur. Doctors said the baby died in the womb and was removed.
A suspected swine flu case was also reported from the same district. A youth, who had gone back to Hindupur town from Hyderabad, was found to have swine flu symptoms.




Officials said his blood sample was sent to the Institute of Preventive Medicine in Hyderabad for screening.
Two people including a 12-year-old boy in Visakhapatnam are also suspected to have swine flu. They are undergoing treatment in a government hospital in Visakhapatnam.

54 people tested positive for the virus taking the total number of positive cases to 491.
The trend of H1N1 infection among doctors is very high at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) where 12 confirmed cases were reported in the last two weeks. So much so that currently all the six positive patients undergoing treatment at the hospital's H1N1 ward are either faculty members or junior doctors.

Two patients at OGH a 55-year-old from Rahipura and a 90-year-old woman from Kishanbagh died on Wednesday. At Gandhi Hospital, an 80-year-old and a 50-year-old succumbed.

Meanwhile, 22 fresh cases of swine flu have been detected, taking the total number of cases to 526 in the state. Everyday, over 100 blood samples are sent to the Institute of Preventive Medicines for testing. The blood samples are taking too long to test and the results are declared only late at night.

The patient, a four-year-old boy, has been diagnosed with Influenza A H1N1 at King George Hospital, even as two more suspected cases of swine flu were admitted to King George Hospital and the Government Chest Hospital over the past three days.
Visakhapatnam district nodal officer on swine flu LDSH Devi said that the patient is a resident of S.Kota in Vizianagaram district and was admitted to KGH on January 24 with symptoms of swine flu. His diagnosis reports have turned out to be positive, and he is already undergoing treatment. As a precautionary measure, all the family members of the boy have been administered swine flu medicines.

Mahabubnagar: Rakesh, from Sripuram village in Nagarkurnool mandal in the district, died of swine flu on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in Hyderabad. Rakesh was working as a lecturer in a private junior college at Atmakur and residing at Wanaparthy.

Family members of Rakesh admitted him to a private hospital at Wanaparthy one week ago as he was suffering from severe cold and cough.

Two women die of swine flu in Hyderabad, toll at 34

Hyderabad: On Thursday, two female patients succumbed to H1N1 at Gandhi Hospital taking the death toll in the state to 34. Thursday's deaths included a 58-year-old woman and another 80-year-old elderly patient. Both had come to Gandhi Hospital after getting treatment at private hospitals.

Meanwhile, 46 new cases were diagnosed on Thursday taking the total number of cases to 583. Twelve junior doctors have tested positive for H1N1 at Osmania General hospital and according to officials, they they have been sent home.

This has taken the overall death toll to 34 in Telangana in January. Forty-six more cases have tested positive for swine flu.
In another development, 12 junior doctors at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) have tested positive for swine flu. The medicos have been advised to remain in their hostel rooms and continue taking medicines. According to doctors, the medicos are in stable condition and are responding to the treatment.

3 More succumb to swine flu in Telangana State

Hyderabad: Three more persons died of complications triggered by swine flu on Friday taking the death toll to 37.

Two of those who died were men aged 50 and 46. In a release, the government said the number of positive cases has witnessed a decline in the last five days, and the fatality rate has also come down.

Death toll goes up to three in Prakasam

A 72-year-old woman, who had tested positive for swine flu, died at a corporate hospital here on Saturday, according to Prakasam District Medical and Health Officer J.Yasmin.

Battling for life for a week, the woman, Kokiladevi died on Saturday morning. With this, the toll in Prakasam district has risen to three.

While a 45-year-old man died on January 26, a 27-year-old man succumbed to the disease on January 10.

A 30-year-old pregnant woman from Kurnool, a 68-year-old woman from Old City and a 77-year-old male succumbed to H1N1. The total number of cases tested positive are 41 taking the total number to 605 cases in this month.

Dr K. Narsimulu, nodal officer at Gandhi Hospital said, ?We are finding that patients who are coming late are having not one but two or three viruses of the corona virus group which have attacked them. We can test only H1N1 and there are no facilities to test other viruses.?

Cherlapally prisoner dies of swine flu

HYDERABAD: Two persons, including a prisoner from Cherlapally jail, died of swine flu in the city on Sunday, taking the total death toll to 29 this season.

Both deaths were reported from the state-run Gandhi Hospital. Also, thirty-seven people tested positive for the H1N1 virus on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 668 in the state.

While one of the patients who succumbed to the disease was a 30-year-old prisoner from Cherlapally jail, the other was a 34-year-old male.

A 30-year-old prisoner from Cherapally jail and a 34-year-old patient who was undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital died on Sunday. The third victim was a 60-year-old patient from Keesara.
The total number of positive cases reported on Sunday was 40 taking the number to 645. At the Osmania General Hospital on Sunday, there was no staff available to take blood samples from patients for the H1N1 test. Angry patients complained to senior doctors but there was no response.
A senior doctor who made a surprise visit to the hospital said, ?I was shocked. When the resident medical officer was questioned, he complained that nurses were not ready to go close to the patients. This is wrong, they need to be guided so that their fears will be addressed and they can work freely.?

Swine flu death reported in Chittoor district

The first swine flu death was reported from Punganur, 60 km from here in the early hours of Tuesday. The death was reported to the district medical and health officials by the victim's family members.

Swami Raju (45), a teacher with the government upper primary school at Malenattam village of Ramasamudram mandal of Madanapalle Division, fell sick in the first week of January. He was a resident of Gokula Street of Punganur town.

Three more succumb to swine flu in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh

HYDERABAD: Swine flu claimed two more people in Telangana and one in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. Officials said that 60-year-old Shobha Rani and 40-year-old Asra died in Hyderabad, while a 45-year-old man succumbed at Punganur town in Chittoor district.

With this, the death toll in Telangana rose to 37 and four in Andhra Pradesh. The total number of positive cases for the two states climbed to 708 since January 1 after the Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) detected 14 fresh positive cases on Tuesday.
