[h=1]6 More Cases of Swine Flu[/h] HYDERABAD: Swine flu is spreading in Telangana with six more persons testing positive for H1N1 virus here on Monday. According to Dr Sriharsha, District Surveillance Officer, Hyderabad, five persons from Hyderabad and one person from Kadapa have been diagnosed with the virus and taken to different private hospitals for treatment.
They are a 54-year-old man, a 2-year-old girl from Asifnagar, a 48-year-old man from Errum Manzil, a 6-month-old boy from Himayatnagar and a 21-year-old pregnant woman from Hyderabad; and a man from Kadapa.

[h=1]Swine Flu Strikes Six More, 3 of Them Kids[/h]
HYDERABAD: An increasing number of children are getting infected with H1N1 virus (swine flu) with three more children testing positive for the virus on Tuesday.
They included a 2-year-old boy, 3-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy.
Three adults _ a 51-year-old man, a 50-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman _ also contracted the virus.
Five patients _ four from Ranga Reddy district and one from Hyderabad _ have been
admitted to private hospitals in the city, and one _ a 2-year-old boy _ to Gandhi Hospital. Dr K Subhakar, swine flu coordinator for the state, said that children aged below 5 years and adults above 50 years are in the high-risk groups. If they experience flu symptoms for more than 48 hours, they should get themselves examined for swine flu. Children, more than adults, tend to carry the virus for longer duration and should not go to school if they have flu symptoms, he warned.

[h=1]H1N1 affected kid's parents in denial[/h] Hyderabad: Ten children who have contracted the H1N1 virus are below five years of age and it is imperative to understand how they were exposed to the virus.

District surveillance officers, meanwhile, are having a tough time as most parents are reluctant to accept the blood test report by the Institute of Preventive Medicine indicating H1N1. Paediatricians as well as health officers are being questioned on the validity of the report.

A senior health officer of Hyderabad said, ?A parent refused to accept that his child had swine flu and was very upset that the child had to be isolated. The counsellors, government health workers and also hospital staff had a tough time explaining to the parents that it was important to isolate the child otherwise others would be put at risk. But the father flatly refused, screaming and shouting at everyone.?

HYDERABAD: An 11-month-old boy from Bachupally and a one-year-old biy from Serlingampally tested positive for H1N1 virus on Wednesday. Apart from them, a 50-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman from Hyderabad and a 28-year-old woman from Ranga Reddy also tested positive.With this, a total of 28 people have been diagnosed with the infection from the beginning of this year.

H1N1 man dies on way to Hyderabad for treatment


A 27-years-old man who was suffering from swine flu in Ongole, died while being shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad. When the ambulance in which he was travelling reached the outskirts of Hyderabad, he died. He is survived by his wife and daughter.

The victim who was working in a stone crushing unit in Yelchuru under the Santamagaluru mandal of Prakasam district had been suffering from cold, cough and fever for the past 15 days and had neglected it all the while. Three days back, he was admitted to Sanghamitra Hospital in Ongole city. On suspicion, the doctors sent his phlegm and blood samples to King Hospital in Chennai, which confirmed swine flu. The medical and health department officials sent him to Hyderabad by an ambulance. By the time he reached Hyderabad, he died.
Also, 10 more persons tested positive for swine flu on Saturday in Hyderabad, taking the total in the first 10 days of the year to 45. Among these 10 are two children aged four years from Nacharam. Hospitals in the city also received a 64-year-old man from Kurnool and a 58-year-old man from Anantapur.

A 44-year-old man from Kukatpally and 50-year-old woman from Mahbubnagar tested positive. With the cold wave prevailing, senior government doctors are urging the state to issue posters so that people can be made aware. Dr K. Narsimulu, the nodal officer at the Gandhi Hospital, said, ?We are asking the district medical and health department to release posters in all the government hospitals, public health centres and area hospitals so people will see them and follow the precautionary measures.?

Concerns over swine flu worsened on Monday with new cases reported from different parts of the country.


Delhi reported three new cases on Sunday, while the H1N1 virus affected two more in Hyderabad. Eight cases were reported in Haryana, one in Odisha and six in Rajasthan.
Till date, the deadly disease has claimed four lives in the national capital, three in Telangana and four in Rajasthan.

[h=1]9 new cases of swine flu in Hyderabad[/h] Hyderabad: Nine people tested positive for swine flu on Monday, the youngest being a seven-month infant from ECIL. Two brothers, aged two years and seven months are being treated in a private hospital for H1N1.

Health officials suspect that the elder brother must have contracted it from outside and due to that the younger one got infected. With severe fever and running nose, they were rushed by their parents to hospital and doctors have put them on anti-viral medicines.

Another two-year old has also tested positive and is being treated in another hospital in the city. The number of children tested positive in January is 13.

This shows that children below five years have to be vaccinated for H1N1 in the next season, said paediatrician Dr Karuna Modak. ?We need to understand the contact and study the reason in children below five years. The awareness levels have to now be towards the targeted groups like mothers, pregnant woman and senior citizens,? she added.

Govt fails to act as swine flu deaths rise

HYDERABAD: The first case of suspected swine flu death in the New Year was reported from the city's Gandhi Hospital on Monday.

According to officials, an 18-year-old boy died on the intervening night of January 10 and 11 before his swab sample could be collected and sent for testing to IPM. But the deceased showed symptoms of carrying the H1N1 virus.

The number of swine flu cases detected this year shot up to 62 on Monday with nine such cases being registered in the last 24 hours alone.

The total number of patients detected with the virus in 2014 (including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) was 88.

HYDERABAD: The first two confirmed cases of swine flu deaths this year were reported in the city on Tuesday. The deceased included a 62-year-old man from Yakutpura and a 23-year-old male.

The senior citizen died moments after being rushed to the Gandhi Hospital from a corporate hospital where he was undergoing treatment for the past four days, authorities said.

A 28-year-old man from Nizampet, Kukatpally, succumbed to H1N1 on Wednesday morning. The patient breathed his last within minutes after he was admitted to Gandhi Hospital. He tested positive for the deadly virus on Monday. ?The patient was in a critical condition when he was shifted to the hospital and supported by a ventilator. He lost his life ten minutes after reaching the hospital,? said Dr K Narasimhulu, nodal officer for Swine Flu at Gandhi Hospital. On Tuesday, a 62-year-old man from Yakutpura was shifted to Gandhi Hospital in a critical condition and lost his life due to the virus. Meanwhile, nine people tested positive for H1N1. Among them, five were children, who include three three-year-old girls, an eight-year-old boy and a five-year-old boy.

A 51-year-old man from Bibinagar died of the flu at Gandhi Hospital, according to Dr K Narasimhulu, swine flu coordinator at the hospital. As the weather is getting colder day by day, the number of swine flu cases is on a rise in Hyderabad. On Friday, 11 persons including a 15-month-old boy and a two-year-old boy who were hospitalised with the flu symptoms have tested positive for the H1N1 virus, and are being treated in various hospitals in the city, Dr Kandi Shubhakar, state coordinator for swine flu treatment, Telangana confirmed. They are from Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts, he added. Though the health officials say there is no threat from the deadly disease, the rapid spread of the flu is alarming. The number of positive swine flu cases since Jan 1 in state touched 116 and deaths 3, says Subhakar.

Hyderabad: Two patients in their late 30?s, who were undergoing treatment for H1N1 (swine flu) at the Gandhi Hospital, succumbed on Saturday. With this, the total number of H1N1-related deaths have risen to seven in January 2015 in Telangana. The patients were from Mehdipatnam and A.S. Rao Nagar in the city. In Andhra Pradesh, one death has been reported in January 2015.

Twenty one new cases of H1N1 have been diagnosed on January 17 taking the toll to 138 cases of both the states.

[h=1]Swine flu in Hyderabad: Total number of cases in January is 111[/h] Hyderabad: One person died because of swine flu at the Gandhi Hospital on Thursday evening. As many as 35 patients were tested positive for H1N1 virus and were admitted to various city hospitals on Thursday and Friday. The authorities at the Gandhi Hospital have confirmed that a 51-year-old man from Bibinagar died of cardiac arrest, triggered by the swine flu. Authorities said 24 new cases tested positive for H1N1 virus on the Sankranti day, while 11 new cases were admitted to hospital on Friday. Most of these patients came from Hyderabad as well as the neighbouring districts of Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Khammam. Of the 11 cases, two were children. Swine flu cases rising unabatedly in TS

Hyderabad:-The deadly ?swine flu? seemed to be spreading unabatedly in both Telangana and A. P States and has claimed 19 lives so far this month.

Since January as many as 119 sinew flu cases were reported in both the states of which Telangana State accounted for 115. The majority of those who died of swine flu are reportedly from Gandhi Hospital.
