As part of an ongoing contact-tracing investigation, GBPH has determined that individuals could have been exposed to the measles virus at the following location, date, and times:

55 Victoria Ave., Markdale (Grey Highlands).
Tuesday, April 29, 2025, between approximately 2:25 and 3 p.m.
The exposure window is from 2:25 to 5 p.m., as the measles virus can live in the air and on surfaces for up to two hours after an infected individual leaves the area...

The health unit identified the Emergency Department at Erie Shores HealthCare in Leamington.

The date is Wednesday, April 30 between 11:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m.​..

Chatham-Kent Public Health has reported another six measles exposures across the municipality. They include:

Walmart Chatham (881 St Clair St., Chatham) on Friday May 2 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, May 4 from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Union Block Bakery (413 St. George St., Dresden) on Saturday May 3 from 6 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Chatham-Kent Health Alliance emergency department (80 Grand Ave., W., Chatham) on Tuesday, April 29, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 30 from 2:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Measles cases in Ontario have increased by 140 this week, for a total of 1,383 cases, the province's top doctor said.

A total of 98 people have been hospitalized, said Dr. Kieran Moore, the province's chief medical officer of health. That's an increase of 14 people compared to numbers released last week by Public Health Ontario.

The majority of measles cases are in southwest Ontario in farming and rural communities, Moore said. Local health units have been translating materials to Low German, which is primarily spoken among these communities, to inform people about measles symptoms and the benefits of being vaccinated.​..

Guelph named ‘risk area’ as measles outbreak grows

The measles outbreak in Ontario is growing, and the Guelph area is quickly becoming a hot spot.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) says the entire municipality has been designated a Risk Area for Measles Transmission by the province.

In a media release, Dr. Matthew Tenenbaum, Associate Medical Officer of Health for WDGPH wrote, “While this designation from the Province highlights the overall measles risk to our community, it does not change our core guidance.”

“I am strongly encouraging every person to review their measles vaccine status and — if necessary — get vaccinated as soon as possible,” he said.

​THUNDER BAY — The first case of measles seen in the city for 28 years was confirmed on Friday.

The individual acquired the infection through international travel, according to a media release issued by Thunder Bay District Health Unit Friday afternoon.​

A public health investigation is unfolding.

The health unit is warning of possible exposure to measles for travellers on the evening of Sunday, May 4.

Anyone on Air Canada Flight AC1195 from Toronto to Thunder Bay, between 9:40 p.m. and 11 p.m., or at the Thunder Bay airport between 11 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. could have been exposed to the virus.​..

WECHU says the TMC Urgent Care Walk-In Clinic, located at 273 Main Street East in Kingsville, on Tuesday May 6 is affected.

Anyone who visited the building from 9:44 a.m. to 1:38 p.m. is asked to monitor themselves for symptoms.​..

Potential measles exposure at Cambridge hospital

​People who visited Cambridge Memorial Hospital’s emergency department late last week may have been exposed to the measles virus.

The Region of Waterloo has updated their ongoing list of potential public exposure locations to include the hospital.

They said anyone who was at the emergency department between 5:25 p.m. Thursday and 1:25 a.m. Friday could have come into contact with the disease.

The region urges anyone who may potentially be affected to watch for symptoms until at least May 30.​..
