Ontario is reporting 2,983 people in hospital with COVID on Monday with 583 in intensive care units.

This is down by 36 hospitalizations and a decrease of four in ICUs since the previous day, though officials noted not all hospitals reported updated figures due to the weekend.

This is the fifth straight day hospitalizations have dropped, and the third day in a row the number of patients in ICUs has decreased.

The province recently began distinguishing between those who were admitted to hospital directly because of COVID, and those who were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for the virus.

Those figures aren’t updated on Mondays due to incomplete data reporting from hospitals over the weekend.

However, figures from last week show roughly 45 per cent of those hospitalized with COVID were admitted for other reasons. Of those in intensive care with the virus, roughly 18 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 3,043 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to recent testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,033,294.

Of the 3,043 new cases recorded, the data showed 529 were unvaccinated people, 119 were partially vaccinated people, 2,125 were fully vaccinated people. For 270 people the vaccination status was unknown.

Ontario is reporting 3,091 people in hospital with COVID on Tuesday with 568 in intensive care units.

This is up by 108 hospitalizations but a decrease of 15 in ICUs since the previous day. Last Tuesday, there were 4,008 hospitalizations with 626 in ICU.

The province recently began distinguishing between those who were admitted to hospital directly because of COVID, and those who were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for the virus.

Of the 3,091 people in hospital with COVID-19, 56 per cent of them were admitted because of the virus, while 44 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19.

Of the 568 people in ICUs with the virus, around 84 per cent were admitted because of COVID, while around 16 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 2,622 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to recent testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,035,916.

Of the 2,622 new cases recorded, the data showed 408 were unvaccinated people, 103 were partially vaccinated people, 1,807 were fully vaccinated people. For 304 people the vaccination status was unknown.

The death toll in the province has risen to 11,504 as 60 more virus-related deaths were added. Officials noted 3 deaths were removed from the cumulative total due to data clean up and these deaths occurred more than a month ago...

Ontario health officials are reporting that fewer than 3,000 people are in hospital with COVID-19 as the province records 72 more COVID-19 deaths.

The province reported on Wednesday that 2,939 people are currently in hospital with COVID-19, and 555 of these patients are in intensive care.

The number of people in intensive care has been steadily decreasing. The province reported that 568 people were in ICU on Tuesday, 583 on Monday, 597 on Sunday and 597 on Saturday.

The province reported that 56 per cent of the 2,939 people who are in hospital are primarily there due to COVID-19, while the remaining 44 per cent were admitted for other reasons but have now tested positive for the virus.

Eighty-three per cent of patients are in ICU primarily due to COVID-19, while 17 per cent of cases are there primarily for other reasons, but also have the virus.

A spokesperson with the Ontario Ministry of Health says 67 of the latest deaths occurred over the past 24 days, with four deaths occurring on Feb. 1, 18 deaths on Jan. 31, 17 deaths on Jan. 30 and the remaining deaths in the preceding days. Five of the 72 deaths occurred more than a month ago...

This is down by 142 hospitalizations and a decrease of 14in ICUs since the previous day. Last Thursday, there were 3,645 hospitalizations with 599 in ICU.

The province recently began distinguishing between those who were admitted to hospital directly because of COVID, and those who were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for the virus.

Of the 2,797 people in hospital with COVID-19, 56 per cent of them were admitted because of the virus, while 44 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19.

Of the 541 people in ICUs with the virus, around 83 per cent were admitted because of COVID, while around 17 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 4,098 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to recent testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,043,923.

Of the 4,098 new cases recorded, the data showed 626 were unvaccinated people, 172 were partially vaccinated people, 2,921 were fully vaccinated people. For 379 people the vaccination status was unknown.

This is down by 163 hospitalizations and a decrease of 24 in ICUs since the previous day. Last Friday, there were 3,535 hospitalizations with 607 in ICU...

...Of the 2,634 people in hospital with COVID-19, 54 per cent of them were admitted because of the virus, while 46 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19.

Ontario reported 2,493 COVID-19 hospitalizations on Saturday, in addition to 59 new deaths.

The number of hospitalizations is down by 141 from Friday, although that is not a reliable indicator of change as not all hospitals report figures on weekends.

The province also reported at least another 3,204 cases of COVID-19 on Saturday...

2,230 people hospitalized in Ontario with COVID-19, 486 in intensive care

A total of 2,230 people are in an Ontario hospital with COVID-19 as efforts to stem the spread of the virus in the province continue.

New data released by the province on Sunday also said 2,887 new cases of the virus have been detected.

However, experts caution that this number is likely an undercount, now that more stringent testing rules have been implemented in Ontario.

To date, the province has recorded a total of 1,054,061 cases of the virus. Of those, 1,007,322 are considered to be resolved.

The number of people hospitalized on Sunday with COVID-19 marks a drop of 263 since Saturday...

Last Monday, there were 2,983 hospitalizations with 583 in ICU as numbers continue to trend downward...

...Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 2,088 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to recent testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,056,149.

Of the 2,088 new cases recorded, the data showed 351 were unvaccinated people, 82 were partially vaccinated people, 1,443 were fully vaccinated people. For 212 people the vaccination status was unknown.

The death toll in the province has risen to 11,836 as 11 more virus-related deaths were added that occurred over the past nine days.

Ontario is reporting another 42 virus-related deaths as the province continues to see a steady decrease in the number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals week-over-week.

Provincial health officials say there are now 2,254 patients in hospital with COVID-19, down from 3,091 just one week ago. The number of patients with the virus receiving treatment in intensive care units has also dropped to 474, nearly 100 fewer than the number reported last Tuesday.

According to the province, 56 per cent of hospitalized patients testing positive for COVID-19 were admitted due to the virus while 44 per cent were admitted for other reasons. In the ICU, 82 per cent were admitted for COVID-19 and 18 per cent were admitted for other conditions but have tested positive.

The province says of the 42 new deaths logged today, three occurred on Feb. 7, 10 occurred on Feb. 6, 15 occurred on Feb. 5 and the remaining occurred on preceding days. All 42 deaths occurred within the last 26 days.

In the epidemiological summary released Tuesday, the province cautioned that “data for hospitalizations, intensive care unit (ICU) admission and deaths in the most recent reporting period should be interpreted with caution due to data entry and reporting lags.”

Another 2,092 cases were confirmed by provincial labs today, a significant undercount due to testing restrictions. This is down from 2,622 last week. With 15,788 tests processed over the past 24 hours, officials are reporting a provincewide positivity rate of 14.2 per cent, down from 16.2 per cent last week.

Of the new cases confirmed today, 362 involve people who are unvaccinated, 92 involve people who are partially vaccinated, 1,402 involve those who have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 236 involve people with an unknown vaccination status...

The death toll in the province has risen to 11,944 as 66 more virus-related deaths were added. A Ministry of Health spokesperson said 65 of the deaths were from the past 30 days. One death occurred more than a month ago.

“Of these, three deaths occurred on Feb. 8, nine deaths occurred on Feb. 7 and 12 deaths occurred on Feb 6, with the remaining occurring in the preceding days,” the spokesperson said...
