A total of 613 people are currently receiving care in an Ontario hospital with COVID-19 as the province continues efforts to control the spread of the virus.

That’s according to new data, released by the provi8ncial government on Saturday.

The data also said 185 people in Ontario were being treated for COVID-19 in an intensive care unit (ICU).

Both the number of people in hospital and ICU dropped on Saturday compared to numbers reported a day earlier.

On Friday, the province reported 615 people in hospital with 193 in intensive care...

Ontario is reporting 551 hospitalizations as a result of COVID-19 on Sunday, down from 613 hospitalizations on Saturday and 615 on Friday.

It is important to note, however, that more than 10 per cent of hospitals do not report their data on the weekends.

Ontario is reporting 551 people in hospital with COVID on Monday with 181 in intensive care units.

This is unchanged for hospitalizations and a decrease of one for ICUs since the previous day, though officials noted not all hospitals reported updated figures due to the weekend.

Last Monday, there were 602 hospitalizations with 228 in ICU.

The province recently began distinguishing between those who were admitted to hospital directly because of COVID, and those who were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for the virus.

Those figures aren’t updated on Mondays due to incomplete data reporting from hospitals over the weekend.

However, latest figures from last week show roughly 47 per cent of those hospitalized with COVID were admitted for other reasons. Of those in intensive care with the virus, roughly 21 per cent were admitted for other reasons...

Ontario is reporting 639 people in hospital with COVID on Tuesday, with 179 in intensive care.

This is up by 88 for hospitalizations but a decrease of two in ICUs since the previous day as hospitals submitted their updated numbers on Monday following the weekend. Last Tuesday, there were 688 hospitalizations with 220 in ICU.

The province recently began distinguishing between those who were admitted to hospital directly because of COVID, and those who were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for the virus.

Of the 639 people in hospital with COVID-19, 46 per cent of them were admitted because of the virus, while 54 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19.

Of the 179 people in ICUs with the virus, 71 per cent were admitted because of COVID, while 29 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 1,447 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,140,865.

This is down by 28 for hospitalizations and a decrease of five in ICUs since the previous day.

Last Wednesday, there were 649 hospitalizations with 204 in ICU.

Data was not available for the breakdown of those who a were admitted to hospital directly because of COVID, and those who were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 2,149 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,143,014.

The death toll in the province has risen to 12,356 as 13 more virus-related deaths were added. The report noted that one death was removed from the total based on data cleaning...

Ontario is reporting 661 people in hospital with COVID on Thursday, with 165 in intensive care.

This is up by 50 for hospitalizations but a decrease of 9 in ICUs since the previous day.

Last Thursday, there were 644 hospitalizations with 199 in ICU.

Data was not immediately available Thursday morning for the breakdown of those who a were admitted to hospital directly because of COVID, and those who were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 2,561 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,145,575.

Ontario health officials report there are currently 667 people in hospital with COVID-19, including 161 patients in intensive care.

Friday’s hospitalizations case count marks an increase over the 661 reported on Thursday and the 611 reported on Wednesday.

The total number of patients in intensive care units across Ontario, on the other hand, marked a slight drop from 165 ICU total reported the day before.

Officials also reported 22 more deaths due to COVID-19. Officials said 15 of the deaths occurred over the past 30 days, while seven of them took place over a month ago...

...The province reported 2,761 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, but health officials have warned that number is an underestimate due to testing limitations and backlogs...

Three more ICU patients required a ventilator due to COVID-19 Saturday compared to Friday. The total is 92 people.

A total of 553 people are in hospital receiving care for COVID-19, according to Ontario data released by the province Sunday.

A total of 157 people are in an Ontario intensive care unit (ICU).

The number of people requiring a ventilator as a result of COVID-19 grew slightly Sunday compared to Saturday. A total of 93 needed a ventilator, an increase of one.

The data signifies a drop in hospital occupancy, while ICU figures remained steady.

On Saturday, the province reported 707 people in hospital and 157 in intensive care.

Ontario also reported a total of 2,215 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday.

That figure, experts say, is likely an underestimate of the true number of cases due to testing restrictions that limit access to PCR tests in the province...

Of the 790 people in hospital with COVID-19, 47 per cent of them were admitted because of the virus, while 53 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19.

Of the 165 people in ICUs with the virus, 72 per cent were admitted because of COVID, while 27 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 1,610 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to testing restrictions. The provincial case total now stands at 1,156,656.
