Sankei: "The absence of the best leaders, the possibility of encouraging the new ideals"

Tokyo Newspaper "I feel anxious about the security situation with an infected person among guards"

(Tokyo = Yonhap News) Correspondent Kim Ho-joon = Kim Jong-un, North Korea's chairman of the State Council, may have evacuated to Pyongyang, a densely populated area, as a villa in Wonsan, Gangwon-do, following the spread of a new type of coronavirus infection worldwide. Reported.
Sankei quoted South Korea's intelligence agency, saying that Kim has been staying in close proximity with his neighbors to Wonsan since attending the Labor Party Political Bureau meeting in Pyongyang on the 11th.
"There is a view that the global spread of coronavirus has avoided the densely populated capital city of Pyongyang, so the absence of the long-term capital of the top leader may also stimulate the myth," said Sankei...:tiphat:https://m.yna.co.kr/view/AKR20200423...e=major_news01

The newspaper also quoted sources familiar with North Korean affairs as saying that there was information about Kim's bodyguards as the reason for the evacuation of the victim because of anxiety about the security situation. The newspaper predicted that the prolongation of Corona 19 could lead to Kim's long-term telework (remote work) in Wonsan's cottage.
Meanwhile, the Japanese government analyzes that Kim is receiving treatment while staying in Wonsan, but he believes it is not in critical condition, the Tokyo newspaper added.

A North Korean who attempted to defect to China tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently under quarantine at a Chinese hospital, Daily NK has learned.

According to a Daily NK source in China, the North Korean was shot by a Chinese border guard during the afternoon of Apr. 20 as he attempted to cross the Tumen River in North Hamgyong Province.

He was transported to a hospital in Longjing, Jilin Province, where he underwent medical tests. The tests came back positive for COVID-19.

After quarantining the man, the hospital in Longjing has reportedly restricted all entry of visitors into the facility.

Daily NK was unable to confirm how Chinese authorities will deal with the infection case...:tiphat:

North Korean defector who was shot and wounded while trying to flee across the border to China 'has tested positive for coronavirus' - despite Pyongyang denying having any cases
06:25 EDT, 23 April 2020
  • Man attempted to cross Tumen River from North Korea into China on April 20
  • He was shot by a border guard and then taken to hospital to be treated
  • Doctors tested him for coronavirus, and the test has come back positive
  • Case provides strongest evidence yet that North Korea does have virus cases
A North Korean defector who was shot by Chinese guards while trying to cross the border this week is infected with coronavirus, a source has said.

The man was taken to hospital after being shot while trying to cross the Tumen River that separates North Korea from China on April 20.

When he arrived at hospital he was tested for the virus and found to be positive, and is now under quarantine, a Chinese source told Daily NK.

His case provides the strongest evidence to date that North Korea is suffering from a coronavirus outbreak, despite Pyongyang publicly denying having any cases.

Daily NK, which has a network of informants within North Korea, has previously reported on several suspected outbreaks within the country.

The site reported last month that 180 soldiers had died from 'coronavirus-like symptoms' between January and February this year.

It also reported that another 23 people may have also died of the infection - but with little or no state healthcare system within North Korea, confirming cases via testing has been virtually impossible.

Last week, Radio Free Asia reported that lecturers have been privately telling North Korean citizens that there are cases in the country

Citizens were told in late March that the virus was spreading in three specific areas of the country - the capital Pyongyang, South Hwanghae province in the south of the country, and North Hamgyong province in the north.

Do They or Do They Not Have COVID-19 Inside North Korea?
North Korea’s claim of zero COVID-19 patients is “contrary” to just about every news piece on COVID-19. “…this is an impossible claim based on all of the intel,” said General Robert Abrams, the top US general in South Korea. In light of recent developments, however, it may be useful to revisit our assumptions.

Exclusive: China sent team including medical experts to advise on North Korea’s Kim, sources say

BEIJING/SEOUL (Reuters) - China has dispatched a team to North Korea including medical experts to advise on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, according to three people familiar with the situation.

The trip by the Chinese doctors and officials comes amid conflicting reports about the health of the North Korean leader. Reuters was unable to immediately determine what the trip by the Chinese team signaled in terms of Kim’s health.

A delegation led by a senior member of the Chinese Communist Party’s International Liaison Department left Beijing for North Korea on Thursday, two of the people said. The department is the main Chinese body dealing with neighbouring North Korea.

The sources declined to be identified given the sensitivity of the matter.

The Liaison Department could not be reached by Reuters for comment late on Friday. China’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment late on Friday.

Daily NK, a Seoul-based website, reported earlier this week that Kim was recovering after undergoing a cardiovascular procedure on April 12. It cited one unnamed source in North Korea....:tiphat:https://www.reuters.com/article/us-n...263DW?rpc=401&

SEOUL, April 24 (Yonhap) -- North Korean media outlets have stayed mum on leader Kim Jong-un's whereabouts without putting out any reports on his public activity amid persisting speculation over his health.

Speculation about Kim's health problems spiked after CNN reported earlier this week, citing a U.S. official, that Washington is looking into intelligence that Kim is in "grave danger" after a surgery.

North Korea's state media have recently put out reports on Kim sending diplomatic letters and conveying gifts to honored citizens but stopped short of providing reports or photos featuring his public activity.

On Wednesday, state media said Kim had sent another message to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, expressing gratitude for congratulating him on the anniversary of his late grandfather and national founder Kim Il-sung's birthday.

No reports, however, on the leader's "field guidance" trips or photos on his public activities have been released by state media for nearly two weeks.

Kim was last seen in state media on April 11 presiding over a political bureau meeting of the ruling Workers' Party, calling for strict measures against the coronavirus.

Kim Jong Un seen to be walking around in Wonsan, says U.S. official
Updated April. 25, 2020 10:23
It has been reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un who has recently become subject to rumors about his health moved to Wonsan to avoid COVID-19. The U.S. authorities captured Kim walking on his own.

“It has been identified that Kim Jong Un had been staying in Wonsan during the entire last week,” said a U.S. government official. “He was seen to be walking on his own between April 15 and 20.” It has been reported that the movements of Kim’s cars and close associates were also witnessed and Kim was walking on his own without help from others or being in a wheelchair. The U.S. authorities seem to have identified such information based on the analysis of radars and images captured by reconnaissance planes.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Japanese media, citing the medical team treating North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, say the failure of initial surgery has left the 36-year-old in a vegetative state.

Amid conflicting reports about Kim's health, Japanese weekly magazine Shukan Gendai reported on Friday (April 24) that a Chinese medical team member on the mission to North Korea briefly explained the situation to its senior writer, Kondm Daisuke.

The medical expert said during a visit to the countryside earlier this month, Kim clutched his chest and fell to the ground. A doctor accompanying Kim immediately carried out CPR and took him to a nearby hospital for emergency care.

North Korea's Supreme Leader/dictator Kim Jong-un has reportedly died, or is on his death bed with no hope for recuperation -- according to media outlets in China and Japan.
Amid reports China has sent a medical team to their communist neighbors this week to check in/advise on Kim, a Hong Kong-backed news channel's vice director -- who's apparently the niece of a Chinese foreign minister -- blasted out the news herself ... he's dead.

The woman put the report on a social media app called Weibo for her nearly 15 million followers to read, citing a "very solid source" about the claim Kim had, in fact, perished. A Japanese magazine reports he's in a "vegetative state" after a heart surgery gone wrong.

The outlet reports -- citing a Chinese medical expert privy to the situation -- that Kim had clutched his chest in early April and fell down while visiting the countryside there. He needed a stent procedure done, but apparently ... it either wasn't done rapidly enough, or it was botched completely by the surgeon -- with some reports saying he had shaky hands...:tiphat:https://www.tmz.com/2020/04/25/north...rgery-reports/

After a video claiming North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has died began circulating in the area of North Korea bordering China, North Korean authorities are intensifying efforts to identify how the video entered the country, Daily NK has learned.

“The video in question looks like it was broadcast by Korean Central Television [KCTV] and entered the country through China,” a North Pyongan Province-based source told Daily NK on Monday. “The video claims that Kim suddenly died during on-the-spot guidance [on-the-spot inspections].”

A “BEWILDERING” VIDEO

The video, which is around five minutes long, shows the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in the background while a caption states that “Our Beloved Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un passed away during on-the-spot guidance.” The video claims that Kim Jong Un died during a guided field trip on Saturday (Apr. 25) at 12:30 AM, and that his sister Kim Yo Jong, the first deputy director of the North Korean communist party’s Propaganda and Agitation Department, would be succeeding him.

The video also included scenes from a past ceremony commemorating Kim Jong Il’s death along with the image of a non-existent article from the “The People’s Korea” – a pro-North Korean newspaper in Japan.

Daily NK sources reported that the video, despite its lack of authenticity, is spreading quickly in North Korea.
