Speaking during the press conference to update data on the covid-19 in the country, Rosa Marlene said that the positive case recorded from Saturday to Sunday is that of a worker at Total oil, aged between 25 and 35 years.

The company became the center of covid-19 in Mozambique a few weeks ago, following the detection of several at the oil company's facilities in Afungi, Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique.

The national director of public health said the authorities had tested 129 people for covid-19 in the past 24 hours and only one was positive.

In total, 2,446 samples have been tested since the pandemic was declared on 11 March.

From Saturday to today, Mozambique recorded another recovered case, increasing the number of people in this situation to 19.

Of the total number of infected, since the registration of the first case in Mozambique, announced on March 22, 72 are of local transmission and eight are imported.

1,009 cases are in the home quarantine, out of a total of 12 thousand people who have already been in this situation.

More than 576,000 people have already been screened in Mozambique.

Mozambique has five new cases
This Saturday (09.05), Mozambican health authorities registered five more positive cases of Covid-19 in the country, bringing the total from 82 to 87, announced Health Minister Armindo Tiago.
The five new cases are linked to an investigation into the ramifications of a first case of infection with the new coronavirus announced on April 2, discovered in Afungi, Cabo Delgado, in the project area for gas exploration in the north of the country - led by Total French.
Among the new patients there is a Mozambican, a Kenyan, a South African and two Britons, all workers in the French oil company.
"All of these cases have no symptoms and, therefore, remain in isolation in Afungi," said the minister.
Only essential works are being carried out in the works of the mega project for gas exploration led by Total in the north, after discovering new cases of infection by the new coronavirus at the site.
Of the 87 cumulative cases in Mozambique, 78 are locally transmitted and nine are imported, with no fatalities and with a total of 34 people recovered.

"Of the eight registered cases, seven have mild symptoms and one has no symptoms. All are in isolation at home," said Rosa Marlene, speaking during the press conference to update data on covid-19 in the country.

Of the new cases, six were registered in the city of Maputo (south), one in the province of Maputo (south) and another in Cabo Delgado (north).

"They are all Mozambican citizens, one of whom recently returned from South Africa," said Rosa Marlene, adding that, at this moment, the mapping of the contacts of the new patients is taking place.

Of the total 145 cases already recorded in Mozambique, 85 are in Cabo Delgado province, 36 in Maputo city, 12 in Maputo province, eight in Sofala, one in Manica, two in Inhambane and one in Tete.

The Mozambican health authorities recorded a total of 46 recovered people and have no record of deaths from the disease.

The state of emergency has been in effect since April 1, having been enacted until the end of that month and then extended until the end of May.

"The next 15 days are decisive for us to determine what we will be like after this second stage," he said, guaranteeing that "there is still no time to relax the measures", he concluded.

Globally, according to a report by the AFP news agency, the covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 315,000 deaths and infected more than 4.7 million people in 196 countries and territories. More than 1.7 million patients were considered cured.
