They confirm new cases of influenza, even in chidren

Authorities of Health announced the presence of five new confirmed cases of patients infected with the human influenza, as well as that nine of 22 patients with the illness that they registered to the beginning of the new outbreak of the virus AH1N1 either were given of discharge.

Chihuahua-The latest report provided by the Ministry of Health indicates that already 45 people have been affected by the H1N1 virus and 6 are the deaths from this cause.

Of the 45 people, 7 are in stable clinical condition, 3 are serious, 6 have died, 10 are hospitalized and 29 are recovering at home.

24 people have been reported in hospitals in the Health Services Chihuahua, four in hospitals belonging to the Chihuahua Institute of Health, one was attended in the ISSSTE, 11 by the IMSS and 5 in private clinics.

The municipalities that have more cases are Chihuahua and Ciudad Juarez with 17 to 28 respectively .

This thread seems to indicate that at least 130,000 people have been given H1N1 vaccines in Chihuahua the past few weeks, so one GBS case is not that unexpected. The article seems to indicate they think the GBS rate is about 2-3 cases per million (but ProMED http://www.promedmail.org/pls/apex/...CHECK_DISPLAY,F2400_P1202_PUB_MAIL_ID:X,86221 states that rate as 0.8 cases per million). By that article's estimates, the expected number of of GBS cases would be 0.26-0.39 (0.104 by the ProMED estimate), so 1 is not too far out of line, considering the small sample (and small compared to the dozens or hundreds of severe hospitalized H1N1 infections the vaccine might prevent). The article itself sates that there have been 5 GBS cases in all of Mexico suspected to be linked to vaccination since the start of the pandemic.

Nevertheless, certainly something worth keeping an eye on.

On March 24, Mexico reported an influenza A outbreak in the state of Chihuahua (northern part of Mexico). Two cities are primarily affected: Juarez and Chihuahua. I agree with you on 1945 being Palma. No virus was ever detected, yet alone isolated from Caballero (he is the one unconfirmed probable fatality), so it is unlikely that 1946 was him. As no other officer died besides those two, the second fatality above (is that 1946 or 1947?) cannot be an officer. If the second fatalitiy is 1946, then you might be right about 1947, but the articles have not explicitly mentioned any female officers at all.

Thanks. Due to the statement that the sequences were from the first 3 cases, I couldn't come up with any 3 other early cases.

Unofficially, made public Tuesday that two women officers in that department came to receive medical attention, but so far have not released that information.

It is not exactly clear. There was a fatal confirmed case in the capital city of Chihuahua (which I think is the second chronologically) that was announced in post #56, and is thus not an officer at all because it isn't in Juarez. That case was already announced as a fatality on the 25th, so it is possible that could be the missing fatality if he had been hospitalized by the 22nd.

IMO, it is amazing that we can even come this close to matching names to sequences. Those are intentionally scrambled (by INDRE, in this case) to protect the privacy of the victims.
