39-year-old healthcare worker gave up coronavirus test for others; she later died before getting her own test results
Posted: Sat 5:59 PM, Mar 21, 2020

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WAFB) - Josh Anderson says his loved one, Natasha Ott, messaged him saying she felt like she was getting a cold, something like a “tiny fever.”

The next day Ott tried to go to a New Orleans hospital but was told it’d be a week before she could see her doctor.

She settled for taking a flu test at her job, a healthcare clinic that serves the city’s HIV population. She passed on taking one of the clinic’s five available coronavirus tests so someone else could, Anderson said.

That was Wednesday, March 11.

Ott was later tested for coronavirus on Monday, March 16, but found dead in her kitchen by Anderson on Friday. The results from her coronavirus test have not come back, Anderson wrote....

A new cluster of coronavirus cases was identified at a Donaldsonville retirement home, Chateau D’Ville, on Monday, March 23, 2020.

Louisiana officials identified a second known “cluster” of coronavirus cases in the state, at Chateau D’Ville, a Donaldsonville retirement home where officials confirmed five cases of the virus.

The five cases were identified Monday, the Louisiana Department of Health said, adding officials were working with the facility to “help minimize the spread of this infection” while also asking for help from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Chateau D’Ville joins the New Orleans retirement home Lambeth House as the only two “clusters” of the virus known in Louisiana. The state has confirmed 42 cases and nine deaths at the Lambeth House so far.
