Jalisco: Cases

Jalisco Mortality 2009-

GUADALAJARA, JALISCO .- Although during the 2009 dengue virus upended the entire health system in the state, exceeding three times the number of cases in 2008 (one thousand 441 cases), with 4 thousand 697 infections, the disease is not on the balance of common diseases of the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SJS).

Moreover, in the list of leading causes of illness which affected Jalisco, dengue is not listed, but it appears the dog bite, burns, conjunctivitis and even venom poisoning of animals as causes of disease in citizens, not the virus transmitted by mosquito "Aedes aegypti, which saturated both public and private hospitals, for much of the year.

However, for the year that just started the picture looks more complicated than in 2009, as Arthur said Muzquiz Pena, Director of Planning of the Ministry of Health Jalisco (SSJ), said to be a difficult year for dengue, and dependence is a projection of about 5 thousand 500 cases reported, so that preventive action should be more focused and intensive.

Although the same health secretary, Alfonso Petersen Farah, acknowledges that lived in Jalisco underreporting of some 60 thousand cases of dengue, the disease has not "reached" out in the records analyzed by the agency in terms of most common diseases last year.

This may be because the unit only recognizes 4 thousand confirmed 697 cases of dengue laboratorial, and the last illness of the list, which is the dog bite, is a confirmation of 6 thousand 772 cases.

"These statistics are recorded only confirmed cases, however, it is estimated that there is significant underreporting ... we do recognize that the disease was a major issue within the health agenda for 2009, with an important increase," said Pe?a Muzquiz .

In the same issue, the National Center of Epidemiological Surveillance and Disease Control (CENAVECE) takes two weeks without notifying new cases of dengue in the country, so no information is available from the second week of December.

Diabetes tops the list of causes of death

During 2009, the five diseases caused more deaths in the State of Jalisco were diabetes, with a record of four thousand 896 deaths, followed by ischemic heart disease, 764 with three thousand deaths, and cerebrovascular, of which 734 thousand were recorded throughout the year.

Other diseases which hit the mortality rates were acute lower respiratory infections, with 592 thousand deaths and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), with a total of 525 thousand deaths.

In total, over the year in Jalisco 34 thousand 626 people died from various causes, reported yesterday the state Health Ministry, according to preliminary accumulated from January to December 2009.

Diabetes, which represents the leading cause of death in the state, said department head Comprehensive Assessment, Jesus Jaramillo Rodriguez, has a different behavior in each region of the entity.

"In the State, the Valley region has the highest rate, with 96.62 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants, compared to the North Coast region, which has a rate of 37.73 deaths.

In a matter of disease notifiable diseases that more new cases recorded were acute upper respiratory infections, with one million 758 thousand 186 cases, intestinal infectious diseases, with 331 thousand 294; urinary tract infections, with 229 thousand 864 ; ulcers, gastritis and duodenitis, with 92 thousand 418 cases, and, finally, the poisoning by scorpion sting, with 57 thousand 028 records, Jaramillo said Rodriguez.

Despite the emergence of human influenza in the health sector records this was not the main cause of the increase of acute respiratory diseases, which have a million 600 thousand cases in 2008, jumped to more than one million 700 thousand in 2009.

What happened, the official said, is that because of "psychosis" of the epidemic, people took more preventive culture and went to the doctor before a picture flu, so more new cases were reported.

However, as influenza does not appear in the list of most common diseases in 2009.

In summary, mortality in Jalisco still has the same trend of recent years and is currently at the lowest point, however, begin to have a sustained increase due to the epidemiological and demographic transition.

"The outlook change disease because more people will be elderly.

The number of infected influenza H1N1 has been less dramatic than predicted by the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SJS). So far the winter period was recorded 4.017 cases

Tue, 05/01/2010 - 19:23
Guadalajara.-The number of infected influenza H1N1 has been less dramatic than predicted by the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SJS). So far the winter period was recorded 4.017 cases.

The health secretary in the state, Alfonso Petersen Farah described the figure as a very positive trend of the epidemic. "The number of cases is far below what was expected for what was the winter season.

The scenario that we had planned we should be carrying double the confirmed cases we have right now, "he said. Farah said Petersen could not declare victory and attributed the decline in infections Hygiene measures and social distancing moderate who has applied the population.

"It's a very positive scenario much more encouraging than the scene say more beneficial than we imagined, it seems that this has to do with the great social participation has been achieved resulting from the preventive measures that one's health secretary both state and Federal has been promoting, "he said.

Today the SSJ reported nine new cases of human influenza in Jalisco as a variant of influenza type A there were no new cases so the figure is kept in a thousand 200.

New infections by H1N1 are half-expected for winter
Note Health | Department of Health Jalisco | Alfonso Petersen Farah | human influenza epidemic in Jalisco.
Despite low temperatures, the number of deaths due to H1N1 virus remains at 77. E. BARRIER
◦ The trend of the evolution of the disease remains encouraging
Alfonso Petersen Farah, head of the Ministry of Health, attributes this to the implementation of preventive measures of hygiene and social distancing moderate

GUADALAJARA, JALISCO .- The stage of infection by human influenza in the state of Jalisco is "very positive and encouraging", in contrast to which he had envisioned for this winter season, said yesterday the owner of the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SJS ), Alfonso Petersen Farah.

The situation, which is unexpected, is in large measure, said the secretary, the public participation in the implementation of preventive measures of hygiene and social distancing moderate. "However, we should not declare victory."

'I use to tell people that regardless of the scenario we have is positive, it is important to emphasize the application of the vaccine, particularly to pregnant women, health workers and people at high risk of complications and death. "

The trend of the evolution of the disease remains encouraging, as is well below the expected cases for this winter season, during the period October 2009 to February this year.

Currently there are four thousand 017 A H1N1 virus infections in the whole entity, after yesterday confirmed nine cases.

The scenario that was projected for these dates would be double the cases that have been submitted so far.

Positive, site of influenza in the state: Petersen Farah

Contrary to what was estimated, the panorama of human influenza this winter season looks promising, as it has been almost half of new infections to the Health Ministry estimated Jalisco, said the head of the agency, Alfonso Petersen Farah .

But he said it would be until it's over the winter, around April, when he could make a retrospective assessment of disease and behavior, but people should be prepared for the possibility of the emergence of a new wave of cases.

"The trend is encouraging, despite the low temperatures we have had virtually all the states.

Vaccination remains slow

With regard to vaccination against influenza A virus H1N1, Petersen Farah warned that continuing at a slow pace, especially in pregnant women, for health personnel has already had a better response.

The pregnant women who do not wish to apply the vaccine has a lot to do with some "myths" that were among the population about the use of a vaccine from a batch not being implemented in Mexico, but in Canada, where generated a feeling that there was a risk for those who implemented it.

Another factor was overconfidence on the part of people, thinking that no human influenza evolution that was outlined at the beginning, and the vaccine would superfluous.

In many cases, fear of side effects on mother or baby was that prevented pregnant women responding to the opportunity of obtaining the vaccine.

Of the around 70 thousand vaccines that already has the SJS, 60% have already been implemented, the official said.

For the second half of January is expected to reach another package of 70 thousand vaccines that are intended for application to persons who have associated risks, such as chronic degenerative disease, asthma, obesity, smoking, alcoholism and heart disease, among other ailments.

Llega A H1N1 to 4 thousand 17 cases in Jalisco

With the confirmation of nine new cases of human influenza, the State of Jalisco come four thousand 17 infections.
The cases of the disease in its seasonal variation are maintained in a thousand 200, because there were no new people sick, said the Health Ministry Jalisco (SSJ).

In this report there were no reported new deaths from the disease, so they continue in 77 deaths from the H1N1 virus and 16 for type A, while the other 43 are kept under scrutiny to rule out or confirm that influenza was the causing death.

Since the beginning of the contingency, in the State Laboratory has process 10 thousand 809 suspect samples, of which five thousand 591 were negative.

Due to the low temperatures now occurring in much of the country, the Jalisco Health Secretariat urged the population to continue to extremes hygiene measures to avoid infection, and in case of symptoms associated with influenza, see a doctor immediately.
