Coronavirus: 47 new cured and 34 new cases of infection
Boris Odilon BLE / RTI Info | Posted Today 2 hour (s) ago

The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene announced on April 16, 2020 that 34 new cases of coronavirus disease have been registered out of 298 samples taken. There are also 47 new cases of recovery.

Before this announcement at 6 p.m., Dr Edith Kouassi, Technical Advisor to Minister Aka Aou?l? said during the daily press briefing on the coronavirus, that Ivorians must stick to scrupulous compliance with the barrier measures.

"We are witnessing a downward trend in the number of new cases over the past 02 days, but this should not cause us to let our guard down. Let us therefore remain cautious in adopting the recommended barrier measures," argued Dr Kouassi.

To date, there is still no specific treatment or cure for coronavirus disease. However, we learned today that "hydroxychloroquine is part of the current combination therapy".

Between March 11 and April 16, 2020, C?te d'Ivoire recorded a total of 688 confirmed cases, including 193 cured and 06 deaths.

Ivory Coast: Coronavirus, 54 new cases of infection, 27 new healed, 36 days later, is it time to start loosening the noose?

? Koaci.com - Friday April 17, 2020 - 6:43 pm

This Friday, April 17, 2020, the Ivorian Ministry of Health announces 54 new cases of COVID-19 infection out of 296 samples (test, editor's note), 27 new cured patients and 0 deaths,

36 days after the announcement of the first case, the country registers 742 confirmed cases, 220 cured and 6 deaths.

The Ivorian healing rate of Covid-19, which is increasing faster than that of contamination, without having to mention the almost zero rate of deaths (0.94%, note), could help to relax the preventive safety grip.

While a large number of analysts had been mistaken about the forecasts of the Coronavirus in sub-Saharan Africa, some announcing several hundreds of deaths in C?te d'Ivoire the first month, remains to be seen whether the public authorities, now fortified with solutions for treatment and in the face of statistical realities, will gradually lift the restrictions which weigh negatively on both the economy of the country and its population, more and more under financial pressure as this morning reported (see associated article, note).

If the worst seems to have been avoided with the Coronavirus, it should not occur by the economic and social situation.

These two countries have nearly half of the confirmed cases of the disease in this region of Africa. But the Ivorian authorities want to be reassuring.

"The continuous increase in the number of positive cases of Covid-19 clearly shows that the virus is active in our country and that the ascending phase of the pandemic continues," said Dr. Edith Kouassy, technical advisor to the Minister of Health and of Public Hygiene.

She recalled that the growing number of people healed and the small change in the number of deaths, testify to the good quality of patient care.
