Many media outlets put the figure for Bihar higher than 162 fatalities. My current total for Bihar is 222. Gujarat has reported 21 encephalitis deaths some of which tested positive for Chandipura virus. Fatalities in Uttar Pradesh have now risen to 560. Media reports indicate 2 fatalities each from Jharkhand and Karnataka and 1 each from Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttarakhand. In total, 1,492 encephalitis deaths so far this year.

It took the death toll from the disease so far this year is 551. (This figure is for BRD only, 594 deaths counting other area hospitals - Ro) Most of the victims are of two patients Gorakhpur and Kushinagar.
