Balurghat, Oct. 19: One person diagnosed with dengue died at the district hospital here this evening, taking the toll to five this year.

Forty-five patients from the district who have been detected with dengue over the past three days are being treated at the Balurghat district hospital.

Hospital superintendent Tapan Biswas said: "In all, 45 people suffering from dengue are being treated under special care. In the past three days, 164 people have been admitted to the district hospital with high fever and dengue-like symptoms. The place is over-crowded and we have opened a separate ward for the patients."
