Gujarat influenza 2017, 453 fatalities

Gujarat: Swine flu death toll reaches 343

AHMEDABAD: With five more deaths reported in the last 24 hours due to swine flu, the number of death on account of the infection in Gujarat since January has risen to 343.

As per the bulletin issued by the state Health Department, five persons infected with H1N1 virus died in different parts of the state in the last 24 hours.

Two more die of swine flu in city, 9 test positive

Vadodara: Two more persons including a 21-year-old female resident of Tandalja area of the city and a 30-year-old male from Kandari village of Karjan taluka succumbed to swine flu. With this, the total death toll in Vadodara has reached 31 including 24 from within Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) limits and seven in Vadodara rural.

AHMEDABAD: Four persons died of swine flu in the state on Friday, including two in the city, taking the death toll due to H1N1 virus to 358 across the state this year. According to a state government statement, 172 new cases were reported in the state. This brings total number of swine flu cases to 5,220. In city, 42 new cases of swine flu were reported on Friday.


The government claimed that the number of new swine flu cases is on the decline. It also stated that special arrangements have been made for pilgrims going to Ambaji temple in Banaskantha district. The government said a campaign has been launched where awareness about swine flu would be created through folk art of Bhavai.


In Ahmedabad, 13 patients are on life support, 13 are on Bi-PAP (bilevel positive airway pressure) machines and 39 are on oxygen supply.

Dahod resident succumbs to H1N1

Vadodara: A 32-year-old man from Dahod town succumbed to swine flu at SSG Hospital here on Friday.
Even as no fresh case of swine flu death was registered in Vadodara city and district on Saturday, a total of 22 patients have tested positive in city and rural areas of the district.
On Saturday, a total of 32 samples of patients, including 26 from within Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) limits and six from Vadodara rural were tested at SSG Hospital of which 17 patients from within city limits and five from Vadodara rural tested positive.
With this, the total number of swine flu positive within the city has reached 630 of which 508 have been cured while 24 have died.

Swine flu toll touches 364

Ahmedabad: With six more people on Saturday dying of swine flu in the state, the death toll due to H1N1 infection reached 364 in the state.
Of the six deaths on Saturday, four occurred in Ahmedabad. Strangely, the state government said that the four deaths in the city had occurred due to 'seasonal influenza'.
According to a government statement, 152 new cases of swine flu were reported across Gujarat on Saturday. Of these, 53 cases were registered in the city.
From January to September 2, Gujarat has registered 5,372 cases.
