The State Department of Health reported on Friday, already 33 deaths of patients infected with swine influenza virus in Minas. The latest report released by the State Committee to Combat the Influenza A, on Thursday, had lagged number of 24 deaths, regardless of a patient capital. On Friday, the committee has eight other deaths in the cities of Nova Lima and Contagem, the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte, Uberlandia and Uberaba, Minas Triangle, Sojuni, Divin?polis and Santo Antonio do Monte, Centro-Oeste, and Pocos de Caldas in the south Of the total, 29 deaths occurred in Minas and four outside. The latter, as they were miners, entered in the accounts of the state.

The Hospital das Clinicas (HC) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) said today that after more than 70 days in hospital, a patient of 27 years who contracted swine flu should be discharged after the holiday of Independence, possibly on Tuesday Monday. He was admitted to hospital on June 29, with symptoms of the disease and spent most of the time in serious condition in the intensive care unit. A co-worker of the patient had contact with a person who had come from outside, also with suspected flu. Yesterday, the HC, which was the first referral hospital to serve cases of contamination of influenza A in the state, reported that there are 22 patients in his unit to investigate the disease, including six in the ICU.

The Committee to Combat the Influenza A (H1N1) in the state has targeted health professionals and directors of security of prisons and social-to promote prevention and appropriate care in an attempt to stop the rapid evolution of influenza in prisons. The prison population in Minas Gerais is almost 35 thousand people, who live at risk for contamination and spread of the virus. Dies a victim of Swine Flu in MT

Another death caused by influenza A was confirmed today in Rondonópolis.

The victim is a woman of 39 years. Angelita Fatima Liwinsky is a resident of Primavera do Leste. She was admitted to a hospital in Rondonópolis and test results, confirming the Influenza had arrived on Wednesday (2). She died at 17h on Friday.

Angelita's death is the third reported case in Rondonopolis, and the first two were also two women, living in Rondonópolis. Just in case today that the victim died in Cuiaba, but was a resident of another city.

Currently, in Cuiaba, there are nine people hospitalized with suspected Influenza A. They are admitted to the Santa Casa Hospital and Regional, and are living in Primavera do Leste, Camp Verde and the city of Rondonopolis.

Mato Grosso now has three cases of confirmed deaths from the disease, although it has not gone yet no official report with these numbers. There is a certain delay since the newsletters are published on Thursdays. And the city has yet to officially notify the state about the death.

In the latest bulletin on the disease, released yesterday by the State Department of Health, confirmed cases were still two. One was reported in the city of Toledo (PR).

The victim was a woman who lives in Cuiaba, which was traveling. The second was the case of a girl of 26 years as part of the risk group (people with some type of disability).

But the state still is awaiting the outcome of two other suspicious deaths. One death was in the municipality of Primavera do Leste, and if confirmed is the second resident of the city that dies of the disease, and the second case is also awaiting the result of a death recorded in Sorriso.

The patient was 39 years and a pregnancy risk, since he had lost babies in previous pregnancies. Also presented other factors, such as diabetes and hypertension.

She gave birth to a girl of 32 weeks, that early, was taken into intensive care, but with good health.

SAO PAULO - The Municipal Secretariat of Health of Campinas, 94 km from Sao Paulo, confirmed on Monday 183 cases of swine flu confirmed in the city. The disease has killed twelve people in the city, eight women, including a pregnant woman and four men.

The folder also said that investigating a new outbreak of bird flu in a day care center that serves 159 children aged zero to six years of age. As a precautionary measure, classes were suspended for 7 days from September 4. So far, 6 have been confirmed outbreaks of influenza A (H1N1) in the municipality.

In the region of Campinas, until earlier this month, were 44 confirmed deaths due to the flu.

SAO PAULO - The State Department of Health of Rio Grande do Sul confirmed on Tuesday an additional 12 deaths due to swine influenza (H1N1) in the state. The deaths occurred between July 30 and August 21 and, in most cases, symptoms first appeared in the last week of July or first week of August. The data are from the State Center for Health Surveillance in the state now stands at 121 deaths from flu. The secretariat provided the desecration of the victims:

1) Victim male, 58 years, date of death: 30/07/09; Porto Alegre, with congenital heart disease.

2) female victim, 41, Porto Alegre, date of death: 31/07/09; had chronic lung disease and smoking.

3) Victim male, 57 years, date of death: 05/08/09, in San Gabriel

4) female victim, age 15, date of death: 07/08/09; had Lupus Erythematosus. Death was in Porto Alegre, but she was resident in Tupandi

5) victims were female, 23 years old, pregnant women, death occurred in St. Gabriel, but the victim was residing in Igrejinha. date of death 08/08/09

6) Victim female, 3 months, death occurred in Porto Alegre, but the victim was residing in Canoas. Date of death: 09/08/09

7) female victim, age 13, death occurred in Santa Rosa. Date of death: 09/08/09

8) female victim of 7 years, death occurred in Porto Alegre, but the victim was residing in Osorio. Date of death: 10/08/09. Had chronic neurological disease

9) Victim female, age 16, death occurred in St. Gabriel. Date of death 11/08/09. Was obese.

10) Victim male, 6 years, death occurred in Bento Gon?alves, but the victim was living in Sao Jose dos Absent. Date of death: 14/08/09.

11) Victim male, 58 years, death occurred in Bento Gon?alves, but the victim was residing in Osorio. Date of death: 20/08/09. He had chronic lung disease.

Number of deaths in the state reaches 48

The Department of Health confirmed on Tuesday six more deaths caused by influenza A in Santa Catarina. Thus, the number of deaths from the disease reaches 48 in the state.

Two other deaths were being investigated were discarded. Of the six victims, three were pregnant, living in Florianopolis, in the South, Joinville, in the North, and Correia Pinto, Sierra (see below for more information about the victims).

So far, besides the 48 deaths, 418 were confirmed cases in the state.

Deaths:

Tubar?o: a man of 34 years. He had the first symptoms on July 18, and July 20 was hospitalized. On day 23, died. The cause of death was multiple organ dysfunction, septic shock and pneumonia

Brusque: a child of 3 years. She developed symptoms on 26 July and on July 29 was hospitalized. On August 1 died of respiratory failure, interstitial pneumonitis and extrinsic asthma

Ararangu?: a woman of 21 years, pregnant. On 1 August she presented the first symptoms. On day 5 was hospitalized and died on August 16. The cause of death was septic shock, bacterial pneumonia and influenza

Jaragua do Sul: a woman of 36 years, pregnant. On August 14 had the first symptoms. On August 19, was hospitalized and died on 22. The death was caused by multiple organ failure, sepsis and pneumonia

Correia Pinto: a woman of 20 years, pregnant. She presented the first symptoms on 17 August, the 18th was hospitalized and died on August 24, severe acute respiratory failure and pneumonia

Massaranduba: a woman of 37 years. Presented the first symptoms on 12 August. On 17 she was hospitalized and died on August 24, for multiple organ failure, sepsis and bilateral pulmonary

I understood the report in Post #245 to indicate 12 additional deaths in Sao Paolo apart from those in Rio Grande do Sul, but I could be mistaken.

Pregnancy is 65th fatality from bird flu in Rio de Janeiro

The State Health Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro confirmed on Tuesday for a death caused by swine flu. The victim, according to the secretary, was a woman of 26 years. The woman, who was a resident of Bom Jesus de Itabapoana, died on August 21.


The secretary also said that the State had so far, 65 deaths due to H1N1 virus confirmed by laboratory tests.

According to the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday, 657 people were infected with swine flu in the country Brazil, according to data from the World Health Organization, is the largest number of fatal cases.

Goi?s already has five confirmed deaths have been caused by swine flu. The information was disclosed yesterday by the very state Secretary of Health, Irani Ribeiro de Moura, during a seminar on the disease held at the headquarters of the Regional Medical Goi?s (Cremego). She did not say where are the three new deaths not registered and sex of victims, details to be unveiled today at a news conference at 15 hours that it will present updated figures in the state on the new flu.

The secretary acknowledged, however, that the number of deaths reported from Goias may be greater than the five already confirmed. "Today (yesterday) should have already arrived and new results tomorrow should be receiving more than others with the confirmation of suspicious deaths that we send to the laboratory Adolf Luft," explains Irani. The municipal secretary of Health, Paul Greer, said the number could reach 17 confirmed deaths. "Who has and does this control is the state, but information has reached me that this number would be 17 deaths," says the secretary. Currently the state has 25 suspicious deaths, six of them occurred in Goiania.

The first two confirmed victims of the disease in the State were the mayor of Sanclerl?ndia Carlos Magalh?es dos Santos, 39, killed (last?) 31, and a boy of 10 years, died on (last?) 2 Yesterday was also confirmed death of another pregnant woman, suspected to have been caused by new flu. The information is the coordinator of the ICU of the Hospital das Clinicas (HC), Cacilda Pedrosa. She said the victim was 19 and was nearly eight months of pregnancy.

"One of the guidelines that we have given in severe cases that affect women's anticipation of delivery, when possible, or termination of pregnancy," said Cacilda. As the coordinator of the ICU service, HC, drive three other women were hospitalized in serious condition. On day 26, a woman six months pregnant, died in Goiania suspected of having the disease.

Obesity
Since the last amendment of the Ministry of Health for the control of swine flu, which occurred late last month, the obese subjects were included in so-called risk groups of the disease.

The epidemiologist also said that the Ministry of Health is considering include children younger than 5 years in risk groups, as well as in the United States of America, a country with the highest incidence of the disease in the world.

These last two reports are a bit confusing because we had previously seen confirmed deaths in Goias at 15 and in Rio at 66. :confused:

I suppose there are the official state health ministry counts and counts by various media sources. It appears to me that the count should now be 17 in Goias and either 67 or 65 in Rio. Also, Shiloh, do you know if there were actually 12 additional deaths in Sao Paolo per Post #245? If so, that would bring the total there to 274.

JimO...It was a temporary # for Goias as they were awaiting results of tests which were announced today...see Post#254
As far as Rio...I would go with 65 to be conservative.
As far as Sao Paulo, I am awaiting reporting of the numbers from the state to update the state total

The Department of Health of Rio Grande do Sul confirmed on Wednesday (9), younger deaths caused by new flu. The total number of deaths in the state already reached 130 with the new records. The victims are four men, two women, one child and two babies.

According to the Secretariat, in Santa Maria (RS), a 54 year old man died on July 21. He had no preexisting conditions. At Passo Fundo (RS), a woman died 39 years and a man of 52 years, both without preexisting conditions. A baby of 8 months also died in the city.

A boy of 11 years, who suffered from cerebral palsy, died in Porto Alegre. In the capital died as an infant of 6 months, with leukemia, a man of 49 years, HIV positive, and a woman of 21 years, with cerebral palsy.

In Carazinho (RS), a man of 50 years died due to the new flu. He was obese and had heart problems.

The death toll from the swine flu in Goi?s rises to 20 deaths, it was demonstrated that the balance of the State Health Secretariat (SES) on the influenza A in the state. There are 42 suspected cases across the state, 80 confirmed cases, 20 confirmed deaths and 130 discarded.

In Goi?nia were 5 deaths, 6 in Aparecida de Goiania, 2 in An?polis, 1 in Brasabrantes 1 in Catal?o, in Cristian?polis 1, 1 in Jaupaci 1 in Minieros, 1 and 1 in Sanclerl?ndia in Senador Canedo. There are still 18 cases of deaths under investigation.

Throughout the month of September, the Secretariat will blitz in areas of high pedestrian traffic in Belo Horizonte, as bars, restaurants, supermarkets and gyms. Will be distributed educational material with information about the new flu and care for prevention. The strategy was already adopted in airports, roads and dry ports.

Since the regions with the highest number of deaths are Curitiba and region (75), Cascavel (20), Foz do Igua?u (18), Maring? (15) and Toledo (11).

There were seven deaths from the virus Influeza A (swine flu), Mato Grosso do Sul, according to State Department of Health have been three deaths in Campo Grande, a case in Costa Rica, one in Golden, and one in South and Fatima also in Tres Lagoas, in the partial balance of the "Bulletin Gripes" the State Department of Health (SES).

Only severe cases patients and pregnant women have the examination done in Sao Paulo, Instituto Adolfo Lutz. The runny nose and throat are examined.

2 were confirmed in Anauril?nida, 29 in the capital, 3 in Corumba, 1 case in Costa Rica, F?tima do Sul, Eldorado, Aultbea and Itaquira?. Three cases in New World and 9 in the city of Dourados and 1 in San Gabriel.

So far, since the month of July were 308 reports of influenza cases in 40 municipalities of Mato Grosso do Sul From those, 80 were discarded and are 156 suspects.

Also according to the report released recently by the state government, for the confirmation, 47 were by new influenza viruses - of which 2 are from people living in S?o Paulo (SP). In terms of total receipts for seasonal influenza (among municipalities in the state) is 17, and 2 more people from the state of Sao Paulo.

Three more deaths caused by contamination of the influenza virus A (H1N), known as swine flu was confirmed on Thursday a total of 40 deaths in Minas Gerais. The report was released by the State of Minas Gerais (SES-MG).

The state assesses 1515 suspected cases of the disease. 326 patients were confirmed with the virus and 27 patients are in hospitals because of complications of the disease. Of these, seven are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

According to the secretary of the total accounted for by the state, four are of miners who died in Pernambuco and Sao Paulo, but enter the count of Minas Gerais. 88 other deaths are still being investigated for whether they were caused by the virus.

The number of deaths from influenza disease caused by swine influenza virus A (H1N1) in Minas Gerais has 49, said on Friday the Department of State Health.

In keeping with recommendations from the Ministry of Health, Ontario now computes on their balance sheets as the state's population who died in the state itself, the miners who died in other parts of the country.

The town is more dead Belo Horizonte. Six city residents were killed, including one who was traveling to Pernambuco. Following is Uberl?ndia, with five deaths. Nova Lima, Uberaba and Virginia have two deaths each.

With the endorsements, the death toll in the country now reaches at least 769 seconds data from state departments of Health, however, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 657 deaths in the country due to the disease until August 29.
