There is this year's eighth outbreak of bird flu in a duck farm in Nymburk
Updated: 13/01/2023 17:07 Issued: 13/01/2023, 17:07

Nouzov (Nymbursk) - Veterinarians discovered another outbreak of bird flu, the eighth this year, at the Perena duck farm in Nouzov near Dymokur in Nymburk. There are 1900 ducks on the farm, the vets have to kill them all. Protection zones will be defined around the outbreak and extraordinary veterinary measures will be issued, Petr Majer, spokesman for the State Veterinary Administration, told ČTK today.

The farm is located in the protection zone of the outbreak in Kozojedy in the Hradec Králové region. "As part of monitoring in protective zones, samples were taken from this farm and sent for examination to the State Veterinary Institute in Prague, which subsequently confirmed H5N1 bird flu in the farm. The determination of pathogenicity is currently awaited," said Majer.

In the duck farms of the Perena company on the border of the Hradec Králové, Středočeské and Pardubice regions, bird flu appeared as early as 2021, when almost 100,000 ducks had to be culled.

Due to the spread of bird flu, the State Veterinary Administration has banned outdoor poultry breeding in the whole of the Czech Republic since December 14 last year. 20 outbreaks of infection appeared in the Czech Republic last year. This year, the veterinarian is mainly occupied with the liquidation of the large chicken farm of the Česká drůbež company in Brod nad Tichou in the Tachovsk region, where at the end of the year the largest outbreak of bird flu in the republic was confirmed. It was necessary to dispose of almost 750,000 laying hens in three halls. Veterinarians estimated the total weight at 1,000 tons, and they have the last roughly 74 tons of poultry left to harvest...

Another outbreak of bird flu in the Boleslav region. The breeder's hens died
today 11:42 am
Another outbreak of bird flu appeared in Mladoboleslavsk. This is a small-scale chicken farm in the village of Židněves. This is already the ninth outbreak of infection this year.

A breeder from the village of Židněves in Mladoboleslavsk reported the death of four hens out of six to the regional veterinary administration. "Veterinary inspectors took samples on the spot and sent them to the State Veterinary Institute in Prague for examination, which later confirmed highly pathogenic bird flu of the H5N1 subtype. Measures were taken on the farm to prevent the spread of the disease. Protection zones will be defined around the outbreak and extraordinary veterinary measures will be taken in them," said Petr Vorlíček, the spokesperson of the State Veterinary Administration, adding that the remaining animals were euthanized in accordance with the legislation...

Avian flu: 23,000 ducks soon to be slaughtered in a farm in East Bohemia

01/19/2023
A new outbreak of bird flu has been detected in a duck farm in Dobřenice, a municipality in the Hradec Králové region (Eastern Bohemia), the veterinary administration informed on Thursday. All 23,000 birds and their eggs will be culled. The same farm had already been the subject of the same measure in 2021. 24,000 ducks had then had to be killed.

This is the tenth outbreak of bird flu detected in the Czech Republic since the beginning of the year, while open-air poultry farming has been banned throughout the territory since mid-December.

There is bird flu in the poultry farm in Českobudějovick, some of the birds have died
1/30/2023 3:52 PM | TRPNOUZE ( ČTK )

Bird flu H5N1 was detected in a small poultry farm in the village of Trpnouze in Českobudějovick. Over the weekend, the breeder lost seven hens and six guinea fowl. The remaining twenty animals will be euthanized by veterinarians. This is the twelfth outbreak of bird flu in the country this year, said Petr Majer, spokesman for the State Veterinary Administration.

The outbreak is in a small farm in the village of Trpnouze, which is part of the municipality of Hranice. "The breeder reported the death of seven hens and six guinea fowls on his farm last weekend. There are also 18 hens and three ducks, so-called Indian runners, in the farm. Some of the hens had symptoms of the disease," said Majer. The State Veterinary Institute in Prague has confirmed the occurrence of H5N1 bird flu in animals. Veterinarians defined protective zones around the outbreak and introduced emergency measures .

Due to the spread of bird flu, the State Veterinary Administration has banned outdoor poultry farming in the Czech Republic since December 14 last year. 20 outbreaks of infection appeared in the Czech Republic last year. At the end of the year, the largest outbreak of avian flu in the Czech Republic was confirmed, namely in a large chicken farm in Brod nad Tichou in the Tachovsk region. Veterinarians had to kill almost 750,000 laying hens. This year, thousands of birds had to be euthanized due to bird flu in Dobřenice in Hradec Králové or in Lány in Kladno.

Another outbreak of bird flu is in Souměř in the Tachovsk region
yesterday 16:19
Antonín Hříbal

On the last day of January, veterinarians confirmed another outbreak of bird flu. This is the thirteenth outbreak this year and it is now in a small farm in Souměř in the Tachovsk region.

"This year's thirteenth outbreak of bird flu of the H5N1 subtype was confirmed today in a small farm in the village of Souměř in the Tachovská region of the Pilsen region," reported Deník Petr Vorlíček from the State Veterinary Administration.

According to him, the breeder notified the regional veterinary administration of the gradual death of 5 hens out of a total of 18. "Veterinary inspectors took samples on the spot and sent them to the State Veterinary Institute in Prague for examination, which subsequently confirmed bird flu of the H5N1 subtype," added Vorlíček, adding that measures were taken on the farm to prevent the spread of the disease.

The remaining pieces will be spent today. Protection zones will be defined around the outbreak and emergency veterinary measures will be issued and taken in them.

Veterinarians discovered bird flu in a small farm in Libomyšl on Berounska. This year, the number of detected outbreaks of this disease in the Czech Republic rose to 19. There were originally 17 hens and ten other poultry - ducks, geese and guinea fowl - in the farm. The breeder reported the death of four hens and one rooster. Veterinarians will cull the remaining poultry, define closed zones around the outbreak and take extraordinary veterinary measures in them, said Petr Majer, spokesman for the State Veterinary Administration.

"Veterinary inspectors took samples on the spot and sent them to the State Veterinary Institute in Prague for examination, which subsequently confirmed bird flu of the H5N1 subtype," said Majer. Veterinarians have taken measures aimed at preventing the spread of the disease. “The remaining poultry in the farm will be culled. Closed zones will be defined around the outbreak and extraordinary veterinary measures will be issued in them," added Majer.

The last case of bird flu appeared at the beginning of March in a small poultry farm in Kunčín in the Svitavy region. There were originally 15 hens, five ducks and two peacocks in the farm. The breeder reported the death of eight hens and two peacocks within three days. In addition, the hens stopped laying and the remaining poultry in the farm showed signs of illness...

This year's 20th outbreak of bird flu was detected in a small farm in Mladoboleslavsk
5/4/2023
Doris Drien

Veterinarians discovered another outbreak of bird flu, the twentieth this year, in a small poultry farm in Židnevs, Mladoboleslavsk. The breeder reported the death of two of the 13 hens, the remaining poultry showed symptoms of infection and veterinarians had to euthanize them, said Petr Majer, spokesman for the State Veterinary Administration. An outbreak of bird flu was discovered in a small farm in the same village in January this year.

Veterinary inspectors took samples from the farm and sent them for examination to the State Veterinary Institute. They ordered precautionary measures on the spot. “The remaining poultry in the farm were culled. Closed zones will be defined around the outbreak and extraordinary veterinary measures will be issued in them," Majer added.

The last outbreak of bird flu in the Czech Republic appeared at the end of March in Libomyšl in Berounsk. There were originally 17 hens and ten other poultry - ducks, geese and guinea fowl - in the farm. The breeder reported the death of four hens and one rooster. Veterinarians euthanized the remaining poultry. Bird flu also appeared in Židnevs in January, in a farm where they had six hens. Four chickens died, the rest were euthanized by veterinarians.

In recent days, veterinarians have also recorded the mass death of 60 seagulls due to bird flu at the Hobšovicky pond near Velvar in the Kladno region. The investigation had already confirmed avian flu in the hundreds of seagulls that died at the Trtí Zbrod pond near Mutěnice in the Hodonín region. Since it is a disease in wild birds, no special veterinary measures are taken in these cases...

There is bird flu in turkey farming in Karvinska, 15,000 of them will be culled

today 15:12 • Updated 16:18
CTK

Highly pathogenic avian influenza of the H5N1 subtype was confirmed in a commercial turkey farm in Rychvald in the Karvinska region. The breeder reported to the regional veterinary administration that approximately 250 of his 15,192 turkeys had died. The remaining poultry showed symptoms of the disease, once the infection is confirmed, the other birds will be culled. Veterinarians will set up closed zones around the outbreak, and extraordinary measures will apply in them. Petr Vorlíček, spokesman for the State Veterinary Administration, said this on Tuesday.

Article

This is the 21st outbreak of bird flu in the Czech Republic this year. "There are two other farms breeding turkeys in the vicinity of the aforementioned farm, in which preliminary veterinary measures have been taken," Vorlíček said.
So far, the last outbreak of bird flu appeared at the beginning of April in a small poultry farm in Židnevs in Mladoboleslavsk. The breeder there reported the death of two of the 13 hens, the remaining poultry showed symptoms of infection and had to be euthanized by veterinarians.

In 18 cases this year in the Czech Republic, infection was confirmed in wild birds, ten of which involved seagulls. Two of these places were in the Moravian-Silesian region at the end of April and one of them was directly in Rychvald - the infection was confirmed in dead seagulls found in the Skučák pond there. The examination of other dead seagulls found at the Heřmanické pond on the outskirts of Ostrava, close to Rychvald, also resulted in the same result.

Czech Republic culls 15,000 turkeys in fresh bird flu outbreak
By Deng Yaomin
Thursday, 04 May 2023
2:37 AM MYT

PRAGUE, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Firefighters and veterinarians in the Czech Republic on Wednesday began culling almost 15,000 turkeys at a farm in the country's northeastern region, due to a fresh outbreak of bird flu.

The commercial turkey farm in the town of Rychvald has already killed almost 250 turkeys out of a total of 15,192, according to the State Veterinary Administration (SVS).

An examination of samples taken by veterinary inspectors from the farm "confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza of the H5N1 subtype," the SVS said, adding that all the remaining poultry must also be culled.

According to local media reports, the culling of the 15,000 birds will take two days...
