Nouzov (Nymbursk) - Veterinarians discovered another outbreak of bird flu, the eighth this year, at the Perena duck farm in Nouzov near Dymokur in Nymburk. There are 1900 ducks on the farm, the vets have to kill them all. Protection zones will be defined around the outbreak and extraordinary veterinary measures will be issued, Petr Majer, spokesman for the State Veterinary Administration, told ČTK today.
The farm is located in the protection zone of the outbreak in Kozojedy in the Hradec Králové region. "As part of monitoring in protective zones, samples were taken from this farm and sent for examination to the State Veterinary Institute in Prague, which subsequently confirmed H5N1 bird flu in the farm. The determination of pathogenicity is currently awaited," said Majer.
In the duck farms of the Perena company on the border of the Hradec Králové, Středočeské and Pardubice regions, bird flu appeared as early as 2021, when almost 100,000 ducks had to be culled.
Due to the spread of bird flu, the State Veterinary Administration has banned outdoor poultry breeding in the whole of the Czech Republic since December 14 last year. 20 outbreaks of infection appeared in the Czech Republic last year. This year, the veterinarian is mainly occupied with the liquidation of the large chicken farm of the Česká drůbež company in Brod nad Tichou in the Tachovsk region, where at the end of the year the largest outbreak of bird flu in the republic was confirmed. It was necessary to dispose of almost 750,000 laying hens in three halls. Veterinarians estimated the total weight at 1,000 tons, and they have the last roughly 74 tons of poultry left to harvest...
