ARCHIVED: Not being updated due to missing data from govs: 2024 - 2025 Mpox Global Strongly Suspected/Probable/Confirmed Clade 1b Worksheet

sharon sanders

Editor-in-Chief & President
This is a worksheet and not a case list. The intent of this worksheet is to provide some idea of where the most dangerous clade of mpox is occurring/spreading and what the size of the problem is.

As a departure from our usual lists we are incorporating suspected and probable cases if reported by a governmental authority. Lab verification is challenging in this situation. Mpox is easier to clinically diagnose than other viruses.

The list in post one is an attempt to get some clarity on the situation since the WHO declared a PHEIC last week. It is a very murky situation as we are having to use case data from largely clinical diagnosis - at least in the DRC. I guess we will see.....

The list in post 1 is updated with the newest WHO information. However, we are using the Africa CDC numbers where applicable because they are more current. Follow the links to see our sources.

Note: We have not been updating this worksheet since May 2025 because the information from governments on clade 1b cases is severely lacking. We are leaving this worksheet online however for reference only.
