Angola with 12 new positive cases and an accumulation of 130 infections

Angola registered 12 new infections with the new coronavirus, bringing the number of positive cases to 130, with five deaths and 42 recovered, said the Angolan Minister of Health, S?lvia Lutucuta.

According to the official, the new cases are of patients between 11 and 92 years old, half are imported from Russia and the rest are from local contamination, namely from the health fence of Cl?nica Multiperfil (02) and from the neighborhood Hoji Ya Henda (04).

All new positive cases are admitted to the Viana Treatment Center, in the Special Economic Zone, in Viana.

“From the Multiperfil Clinic we have one with 92 years of age, hospitalized and asymptomatic, his underlying disease is already under control and, by this time, he tested positive and is stable”, said the minister.

At the Multiperfil Clinic, a second case was recorded among health professionals, a doctor, who works in the emergency department.

S?lvia Lutucuta referred that it was necessary to make some decisions in relation to Multiperfil's sanitary fence, whose survey forecast was for today, depending on the epidemiological evaluation.

"All the people who are at the Multiperfil fence were tested, this test was carried out more than seven days ago and, by this time, all the negative tests that we have at Multiperfil have to be reassessed," said the minister.

An epidemiological surveillance team from the National Directorate of Public Health and the National Directorate of Hospitals from the Ministry of Health are working with the direction of Cl?nica Multiperfil, and it has been decided to maintain the private institution's sanitary fence for the time being.

According to the minister, today, “urgently”, the testing of the 30 patients admitted to that clinic began, and the results should still be released today, so that some measures can be taken later.

“Negative cases, with discharge criteria, will be discharged, negative cases, with hospitalization criteria, will be transferred to other health units and tomorrow [Saturday] we plan to test all professionals who are at the health fence, to leave from there we make better decisions from the public health point of view for these professionals ”, he stressed.

The Angolan official stressed that after the cases registered at the private clinic, “it is prudent for them to be retested, because it has been more than seven days since the previous test and then, after taking these measures, the clinic will be disinfected and the safe lifting of the sanitary fence ”.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 421,000 deaths and infected more than 7.5 million people in 196 African countries and territories, according to the balance sheet by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.

After Europe succeeded China as the center of the pandemic in February, the American continent became the one with the most confirmed cases, although with fewer deaths.

According to the Minister of Health, S?lvia Lutucuta, the other case is of local contamination, related to the sanitary fence of Hoji Ya Henda.

As regards the police case, the minister informed, he is a member of the security team of the An?bal de Melo Press Center (CIAM), which is why the press conference was held today from the Ministry of Health, while the site is being disinfected.

S?lvia Lutucuta clarified that this case was detected during the community screening of the team of journalists who have been following the press conferences at CIAM and supported in the dissemination of information about the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus.

"At this point, 41 samples were collected, of which 40 were negative and one was positive," said the minister, adding that, on Tuesday, the members of the unit to which this police officer belongs will be screened, as well as journalists who have been to monitor the information at CIAM.

The official appealed for the calm of the journalistic community, taking into account the preventive measures they have followed, emphasizing that despite the negative results it is prudent, having already passed seven days, to do the test again.

"The citizen concerned takes a shift, therefore, three times a week, has been in an area of little contact and public health measures are in progress to identify contacts," he said.

The minister ruled out the possibility of being in the presence of a case of community transmission.

"We can only talk about community circulation when we have more than 100 cases without an epidemiological link, in this case, in particular, we had the result today, our teams are on the ground to assess the infected person and then continue the work with the contacts until we find the source of contamination, "he said.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 433,000 deaths and infected more than 7.9 million people in 196 African countries and territories, according to the balance sheet by the French agency AFP.

In Africa, there are 6,465 confirmed deaths and more than 242,000 infected in 54 countries, according to the latest statistics on the continent's pandemic.

In Angola there are six new positive cases of contamination by Covid-19. According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, three of these cases were registered in the province of Cuanza Norte, giving rise to the first infections outside the Angolan capital, Luanda.

Franco Mufinda said that the other three cases, of local transmission, are confined to the sanitary fence of Hoji-Ya-Henda.

The Angolan official stressed that the first three cases in Cuanza Norte concern two West African citizens and one Angolan, who breached Luanda's health fence.

"In relation to the province of Cuanza Norte, we are preparing a multidisciplinary team to follow up with regard to case management, especially epidemiological surveillance", he said.

According to Franco Mufinda, this process will need a study of the epidemiological link, which has already started and will be complemented by the Ministry of Health team, composed of senior technicians.

One of the patients in Cuanza Norte, informed Mufinda, "inspires care", for presenting other diseases.

At this time, Angola has a total of 148 cases, six deaths, 64 recovered and 78 active.

To date, 15,183 samples have been collected, of which 148 positive and 14,433 negative, 655 of which are being processed.

Transmissions at the local level have already reached 83 cases, with the largest import of cases from Russia, with 53%, while Portugal represents 38%.

Angola reports 11 new cases and one died from Covid-19
Luanda, June 18 (Prensa Latina) The Minister of Health in Angola, S?lvia Lutucuta, reported 11 new cases and one died by Covid-19, and reiterated the call to comply with sanitary rules to mitigate the country's epidemic risk.

Faced with realities in other parts of the world, the spread of the disease has a less accelerated behavior here, but the national scenario could worsen if individual and collective protection measures are violated, the official said at a press conference.

There will be zero tolerance for those who violate sanitary fences and isolation measures, Lutucuta insisted, as the first cases of Covid-19 in the province of Cuanza Norte left Luanda for contempt of the established barriers.

As he explained, most of the positive results in the last 24 hours correspond to the investigations at the Multiperfil clinic in this capital and the Hoji-Ya-Henda neighborhood, in the municipality of Cazenga, after the establishment of sanitary fences at both sites to stop local transmission of the new coronavirus.

Added to the above is the diagnosis of a three-month-old baby, who arrived at the Luanda mother-child hospital due to respiratory infection.

Thus, Angola accumulates 166 confirmed cases, including eight deaths, 64 recovered patients and 94 with active virosis, said the member of the multisectoral commission for the prevention and fight against the pandemic.

Because of the epidemic threat, she recalled, the national territory continues under special regulations contemplated in the presidential decree on the Situation of Public Calamity.

Epidemiological links investigated in Angola by Covid-19
Luanda, June 22 (Prensa Latina) With 97 active cases of Covid-19, Angola is trying to prevent the spread of contagion beyond the provinces of Luanda and Cuanza Norte, where they are carrying out different investigations on epidemiological links today.

According to the Ministry of Health, the source of contamination of four patients, whose diagnosis was confirmed yesterday in this capital, is still unknown, although the authorities reiterate that the epidemic process continues in a primary phase of local transmission.

The cases under investigation are a 38-year-old Eritrean citizen, residing in the municipality of Luanda, and three Angolans, inhabitants, interchangeably, of the Sambizanga district, the municipality of Viana and the Kilamba Kiaxi area.

According to the source, the analysis on the possible origin of the contagion, as well as the location of the personal contacts of the four patients, respond to the government's effort to try to contain the transmission chains of virosis.

The secretary of state for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, alerted yesterday at a press conference that among the recent cases there are two employees of the National Institute for Health Research, where the main laboratory for tests on Covid-19 is located.

At the moment, the building is being disinfected and it is hoped that it can resume its work tomorrow, after adopting other sanitary provisions, including the isolation of several workers on suspicion of contamination.

Health professionals working in risky places must be scrupulous in complying with individual and collective protection measures, reiterated Dr. Mufinda, who also serves as spokesperson for the multisectoral commission for the prevention and fight against Covid-19.

Angola has so far registered 183 confirmed cases, including nine deaths, 77 recovered and 97 active; that is, a contagion rate lower than the initial forecasts of the World Health Organization (WHO).

In recent statements to the press, the resident coordinator of the United Nations system, Paolo Balladelli, considered that preventive actions reduced the intensity of Covid-19 transmission and postponed the peak of the epidemic curve, but it cannot be lowered. the guard in control.

Angola with 22 killed by Covid-19, reports government
Luanda, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) Angola reported today the death of another person due to Covid-19, which brought the number of fatalities to 22, while contagion continues to increase.

In a press conference, the Secretary of State for Public Health explained that the dead patient is among the 10 confirmed infections during the last 24 hours, all of them in the province of Luanda.

Just a week ago, the citizen in question was apparently healthy until she began to present different symptoms treated as if it were a malaria infection, and in recent days it worsened due to acute respiratory failure, the official detailed.

With positive diagnoses in the last 24 hours, Angola accumulates 396 confirmed cases of Covid-19, including 22 dead, 117 recovered and 257 active, said the representative of the multisectoral commission for the prevention and fight against the pandemic.

As announced, on Wednesday about a thousand serological tests (rapid tests) were carried out on the same number of individuals in a busy Luanda market.

An investigation of the same nature happened in the province of Cuanza Norte on July 6 and 7, and the study is expected to continue in other capital districts and at risk groups, he said.

The serological examination reveals the person's immune response, by detecting the antibodies that the body produces while it is responding or has at some point responded to a certain infection, he said.

These antibodies are IgM (immunoglobulin M) and IgG (immunoglobulin G), which bind to the virus to deactivate or eliminate it.

A total of 71 serological tests in Luanda and Cuanza Norte were positive for one or the other antibodies, allowing appropriate measures to be taken to isolate the suspected cases and to proceed to molecular biology tests (RT-PCR), which offer the diagnosis of certainty for the Covid-19.

This epidemiological tracking, he said, should help contain the spread of the disease, by cutting possible transmission chains.

Covid-19: Angola announced record of 62 new cases and one more death
Jornal Econ?mico with Lusa 09 July 2020, 20:44

Angola recorded 62 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic, and one more death, bringing the total to 23.

Angola has registered, in the last 24 hours, 62 new cases of covid-19, the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic, and one more death, bringing the total to 23, announced the Angolan Minister of Health, S?lvia Lutucuta.

The new cases, 12 female and the remainder male, aged between 02 and 59 years, resulted from the screenings that are being made in the “sentinel centers” to contacts with positive cases, passengers and several clusters , said the minister, at a press conference in Luanda.

As for death, he is a 41-year-old man, a critical patient who had been hospitalized for several days in a treatment center. Angola already registers 458 positive cases of the disease, of which 23 deaths, 117 recovered and 319 active.

The minister added that mass random testing has in the meantime been strengthened in recent days, "looking at high-risk conglomerates", such as the markets. In this context, 2,875 people have already been tested, of which 1,500 in the Kikolo market, and 1,000 in the “30” market, in the province of Luanda, and 375 in the province of Cuanza Norte.

At Kikolo, 87 reactive samples were detected, of which 16 IgM (with antibodies that indicate the active phase of the disease and 71 IgG (indicate that the person had contact with the virus but may be immunized). were reactive, including three IgMs. In Cuanza Norte, 14 reactive samples (12 IgG and 2 IgM) were recorded.

These serological tests are used to screen and detect antibodies related to covid-19, allowing the evaluation of the population's immunity and tracking any positive cases, said S?lvia Lutucuta.

The people who revealed IgM "are being taken for isolation" and all reactive cases will be tested by another method to have the results of molecular biology (test known as RT-PCR).

In addition to the markets, testing was also initiated by the National Police, "which interacts very often with citizens," said the health minister.

Mass testing continues on Friday at Kifangondo Martyrs, said S?lvia Lutucuta. The minister also said that "there have been reactive tests in the province of Hu?la" that are being proven by another method.

Due to the mandatory testing for people leaving the province of Luanda or Cazengo (province of Cuanza Norte), within the scope of the sanitary fence that remains in these places until August 9, “there were constraints”, acknowledged S?lvia Lutucuta, stressing that capacity building will be carried out at the main outlets in Luanda as of Friday. “We will do an average of 200 tests per day”, he estimated.

Asked if Angola already has community transmission of the disease, the minister admitted: “We are not far”. "There is no better way than to really go to the community, so we are doing testing on a large scale to make substantial samples to accept the community circulation, we are not far away and we have to be prepared", stressed the official, appealing to the population to comply measures to reduce the impact of the disease.

Even so, S?lvia Lutucuta considered that the numbers that have been detected in the markets are lower than what was expected.

“The expectation was to find 10%, but we are finding much lower figures, a percentage less than 0.8%. We are still in this scenario ”, he pointed out.

Angola today increased the number of covid-19 cases to 462, with four more infected, announced the Angolan Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

Angola increases to 462 cases with four more infections

The new cases concern three females and one male, aged between one and 32 years, one of those infected from Russia on a repatriation flight.

Franco Mufinda stressed that the Angolan health authorities continue to intensify testing in the community among markets, risk groups and sentinel centers, having today chosen the location of the Kinfangondo Martyrs, in Luanda, where around 1,000 people were screened, through rapid (serological) tests.

Among these, 69 were reactive to the test (IgG, revealing immunity to the virus or IgG / IgM, in transition) and six were IgM, which means that they are in the active phase of the disease, having been isolated.

The Secretary of State indicated that the percentage of reactive tests is lower than expected, with the majority being people who expressed immunity and "few people who are in the active phase of the disease".

In Cazengo, municipality of Cuanza Norte, which is under a sanitary fence, 250 people were tested, of which 12 reacted, 9 revealed immunity (IgG), one was in the transition phase and the other two were in an active phase.

Mass testing will be completed on Saturday at the Asa Branca market in Luanda.

Angola now has 462 confirmed cases, of which 23 are deaths, and 321 are active, including one patient in critical condition.

So far, more than 34 thousand samples have been processed, of which 1586 in the last 24 hours, revealing four positive cases.

Franco Mufinda said that the test carried out on a citizen who was in Hu?la, coming from Luanda, and had had a "reactive" result, turned out to be negative, in confirmation through the molecular biology test.
