Cuban doctors

Cuban doctors, who have been in Angola since March, to provide assistance to the populations and to train Angolan professionals, cost, on average, five thousand dollars to the State coffers, said the Minister of Health yesterday. S?lvia Lutucuta clarified that Cuban doctors are in the country to provide specialized training to Angolan technicians and help with medical care for patients infected with the new coronavirus.

The minister considers it essential to make a cost assessment, but also recalled that the country needs to train staff, since the fight against Covid-19 requires specialized technicians. “We have few staff at the national level, so we cannot think that we will be able to provide good assistance only with doctors who leave our universities.

Human capital must be valued, but this is only possible through specialized training. The Executive's initiative appears as an opportunity for our professionals to evolve ”, he stressed. S?lvia Lutucuta said that the Executive is concerned with human capital and the quality of Medicine, hence the importance of the training process and believes that, with this measure, in five years the country will no longer depend on foreign doctors.

“People complain every day that they need a consultation with specialists, but sometimes they do not have access to these specialists. For this reason, we look to the future ”, stressed the minister.
