In the last 24 hours, a new positive case of covid-19 was registered in the country, after three days without any new cases, now increasing to 25.

According to the Minister of Health, Franco Mufinda, who updated the data in the usual epidemiological situation of covid-19 in the country, the new case was registered in one of the Cuban doctors who arrived in the country two weeks ago.

She is a 57-year-old doctor, who is already being treated in one of the reference units, she had already fulfilled the mandatory institutional quarantine, as has happened with all people from countries with community circulation of the virus.

According to the Minister, a follow-up is already being carried out to all people who maintained contact with the patient, as these are possible suspected cases.

There are now 25 positive cases, of which 17 are active, six recovered, of the two have already been discharged and two deaths have also been recorded so far.

Covid-19: Calumbo quarantine centers reopen

Luanda - The two Calumbo quarantine centers, in Luanda, have been reopened due to the rise in suspected cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, according to the State Secretary for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

Mufinda announced this at the usual press conference to update statistics on COVID-19 pandemic, saying in addition to accommodating suspected cases, the centres will also serve to manage possible positive cases.

The official, who put at 691 the number of citizens under the institutional quarantine countrywide, stressed that 239 people of different nationalities have been released in the last 24 hours, of whom 32 linked to oil companies.


He also noted that another 938 who had direct and occasional contact with positive cases are being followed and investigated, in addition to the discovery of 183 citizens who lived directly with the Cuban statistician who tested positive, last Wednesday.


Since the beginning of testing in Angola (last March), the molecular biology laboratory has examined 1,418 specimen, with 329 analyzes being processed.
