Re: Arsenic - A Fatal Complication for Pandemic Flu - MUST READ
Study: Link Between H1N1
and Water Wells
Link: arsenic to more severe
influence-A H1N1
Published : Sunday, 06 Sep 2009, 4:31 PM CDTMINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Department of Health is urging people to get their private water wells tested. Dangerous levels of arsenic have been found across the state. Arsenic has been linked to the H1N1 flu.
In the age of H1N1 concerns, a new study links arsenic to more severe influenza-A H1N1 symptoms.
The study by Environmental Health Perspectives shows mice with dangerous arsenic levels had more severe flu symptoms. It was done with influenza-A H1N1, not the novel H1N1 that?s going around. But the Department of Health is just as concerned and says stressors during the flu, like poor diet, anxiety and chronic health concerns can all make the flu worse.
The study did not tell say everything we need to know about how arsenic will actually act in the human body.
Kyle LeMay knows how arsenic alone effects the human body.
?Some short term effects the EPA has shown included stomach and gastro problems and skin irritations,? said LeMay. ?Long-term effects include circulatory issues and have been linked to an increase risk of cancer.?
He tests private wells for Culligan and has found many that are dangerously above the EPA?s maximum standard of 10 parts per billion. About 15 percent of private wells in the state of Minnesota are above dangerous levels.
Arsenic is a natural material left by glaciers found across the state and specifically the southwest metro. It?s recommended to get private wells tested every other year and if levels are dangerous, drink bottled water or get a treatment system. The Department of Health's website has numerous options to find healthy solutions.http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/dpp/n...s_sept_06_2009
