2 flu deaths reported in Smith Co., over 230 others test positive for virus
TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Two Smith County health systems have released the number of flu-related deaths reported last week and the number of patients who have tested positive for the virus.
According to a representative from Trinity Mother Frances hospital and clinics, one person died last week from an unknown strain of the flu virus. Nine patients were admitted to their hospital with the flu and 57 others tested positive for the virus. Of those, 98.6 percent had influenza type A and not H1N1.
East Texas Medical Center revealed Thursday morning that one person has died from the flu. The hospital also released information regarding the number of patients in Tyler they have had who tested positive for the flu.
