    Priests shorten Mass;

    Place communion wafers in worshippers' hands, instead of their mouths;

    A parishioners to avoid kissing or shaking hands during the rite of peace.

    The Archdiocese also said Catholics could fulfill their Mass obligation by radio.

    I have posted the link and information from the Archdiocese of Mexico City

    As a certified Catholic catechist I believe the New Zealand newspaper summary might have made a subtle error with significant impact. In the Mexico City Archdiocese instructions, those who are sick are excused (obliged) to stay away from mass, but may participate via radio. Those who are healthy and without other impediments, normally will go to mass.
