    Swine Flu: 6 more deaths in Gujarat, toll rises to 37

    Swine flu on Saturday claimed six lives in Gujarat, taking the toll in the state this month to 37. "Six persons died today -- three in Kutch region and one each in Ahmedabad, Surat and Anand. The total number of deaths in January has reached 37," said health commissioner JP Gupta.
    Twenty-five cases of swine flu infection were reported on Saturday, taking the total to 267 this month.
    Kutch district is the worst-affected with eleven deaths including the deaths of three women on Saturday. The district health department said 114 cases of H1N1 virus infection were reported this month.

      Five more die of swine flu in state

      AHMEDABAD: Five people died of swine flu on Saturday including one each in Ahmedabad and Surat.

      Twenty-five fresh cases were reported from across the state. In Ahmedabad eight people tested H1N1 positive.

      Till date, a total of 267 swine flu positive cases have been reported from across the state since January 1, of which 109 were cured, while 121 patients are still under treatment and a total of 37 people have died of the disease in the state during this period.

        Swine flu claimed one more life in Patan district taking the death toll due to infection to 38 so far in the state, even as 39 new positive cases have been registered today, a senior health department official said.
        ?One person in Patan district died due to Swine flu today, while 39 new positive cases have been reported,? state health commissioner J P Gupta said.
        The total death toll has climbed to 38 in the state, he said, adding a total of 309 swine flu cases have been registered so far while 122 patients have been cured.

          Swine flu death toll hits 42 in Gujarat in January

          AHMEDABAD: A team of senior officials from the central government will visit Gujarat as the number of swine flu cases has mounted to 320 in the state in January, and the toll has touched 42 in that month.

            AHMEDABAD: Swine flu today claimed three more lives in Gujarat, taking the total number of disease-related deaths in the state to 45 so far this year, a senior health official said.

            "Three persons died due to swine flu, one each in Surat, Banaskantha, and Anand districts, while 35 new cases were registered today," state Health Commissioner J P Gupta said.

              Swine flu claims another life in Kutch

              VADODARA: The continuing swine flu outbreak in the state claimed yet another life when a 48-year-man from Bachau in Kutch succumbed to the deadly H1N1 virus at the GK General Hospital in Bhuj on Tuesday. The death toll in the district that is the worst-affected has risen to 13 till now.

              Three other patients are in a critical condition and on life-saving devices. Besides, 11 new patients tested positive in the district on Tuesday taking the total number of positive cases to 140. Epidemic medical officer Arun Kurmi said that at present 45 persons are admitted at various hospitals in Bhuj.

                Swine flu: Two more die in Surat, school makes masks mandatory

                The MP Liliyawala school at Punagam in Surat put up a notice on Monday, mandating all its students to wear masks to school, given the threat of the H1N1 virus. Surat has reported the second highest number of Swine flu deaths (10 so far) after Kutch. This includes two who died on Wednesday. Since Monday, 13 patients tested positive for Swine flu. Among the new patients, 12 are from Surat district and one from Valsad.
                The two patients ? a 42-year-old male and a 43-year-old female, residents of Varachha and Katargam, who were declared dead on Wednesday, were undergoing treatment at a hospital in the same area. According to the district health officials, a total of 58 positive cases have come to light in the last one month out of which 10 died (7 from Surat city, 1 each from Bharuch, Vadodara and Valsad).

                Swine flu death in Gujarat continues, 53 killed

                Ahmedabad: Gujarat swine flu which killed eight and since January this year, the number of people who die from lethal virus was 53.

                Gujarat Health Commissioner JP Gupta said, "Today, because of the swine flu, which killed eight people, 53 people have been killed since January. Also today also revealed 61 new cases. "Ahmedabad and Surat districts swine flu while two people were killed Kutch, Dahod, Dwarka and Vadodara districts to address one deaths is gone. Gupta said that 415 cases of swine flu in the state of which 160 patients have been treated.

                A four-member team of the Union Health Ministry yesterday came Gujarat. Team to take stock of the situation today in the city of Bhuj in Kutch district GK General Hospital and a private hospital in the city of the district visited Mandvi. H 1 N 1 virus Kutch district is the most affected area where 16 people have died and 150 cases.

                  Swine flu claims three lives in city

                  VADODARA: Swine flu claimed three lives in the city since Tuesday night. While none of the deceased was from the city, they were admitted to the hospitals here.

                  Data furnished by the district health officials on Wednesday evening also revealed that 10 persons had tested positive for the H1N1 virus. These included persons both from the city and outside including one from Rajasthan.

                  Meena Parmar, 42, of Navi Nagari in Karjan Taluka died at the SSG Hospital (SSGH) on Tuesday night. She was admitted at the hospital on Monday. Yunus Garbadawala, 42, of Dahod who was hospitalized since January 23, died at the Sterling Hospital on Wednesday. The second victim on Wednesday was Mamta Soni, 33, of Devas in Madhya Pradesh who was admitted at the SSGH on Sunday.

                  The total number of deaths because of swine flu in the city went up to five on Wednesday. The total number of positive cases reported at Vadodara is 68. These include 42 from the city limits, seven from Vadodara district and 19 from outside including other states.

                  Swine flu claimed three lives in the city since Tuesday night. While none of the deceased was from the city, they were admitted to the hospitals here.

                      66 Swine Flu Deaths in Gujarat Since January 1

                      AHMEDABAD: With the death of four more persons, the number of swine flu deaths in Gujarat in the new year reached 66 today.


                      Today's deaths were reported from Kutch (one), Vadodara (two) and Rajkot (one) districts. Also, 73 new swine flu cases were reported, taking the total number of positive cases to 557, a state government statement said.

                        Five more succumb to swine flu in Gujarat; death toll reaches 71

                        Ahmedabad: With five more persons succumbing to swine flu in Gujarat Saturday, the death toll in the state since January has reached 71, an official statement said.




                        "Five swine flu deaths were reported in Gujarat today. While there were two deaths in Kutch, one fatality each was reported in Ahmedabad, Amreli and Surat," the statement from Gujarat Government said.
                        Besides, 70 new swine flu cases were reported Saturday in the state, taking the total number of positive cases to 627 since January 1, the statement said.
                        Kutch, the worst-affected district in the state, today reported another 10 cases of swine flu. So far the district has had 199 positive cases and 25 deaths due to the H1N1 virus infection.
                        Ahmedabad district has so far reported 105 positive cases and 13 deaths.

                        With five more persons succumbing to swine flu in Gujarat Saturday, the death toll in the state since January has reached 71, an official statement said.

                          Swine flu claimed one more life in Surat on Saturday while 22 new such cases have been reported, Surat district health department officials said.
                          A 51-year-old woman was declared dead by doctors on Saturday. With this, the toll by swine flu in Surat has hit 11.

                            10 more patients succumb to swine flu in Gujarat; toll reaches 81

                            AHMEDABAD: With ten more persons succumbing to swine flu in Gujarat today, the toll in the state since January has reached 81, officials said.

                            "Ten persons died due to swine flu in Gujarat today. Two deaths each were reported in Kutch, Ahmedabad and Surat districts, while one fatality each was recorded in Vadodara, Dahod, Narmada and Surendranagar districts," an official statement issued here said.

                            As per official figures, the state recorded the highest number cases today with registration of 117 new swine flu positive cases, while total number of cases has reached upto 744 since last month.

                            Ahmedabad district today witnessed the highest number of cases registered in a day with 46 new positive cases. Two deaths were also reported here taking the death toll to 15 and total cases to 151.

                              61 new H1N1 cases in Ahmedabad

                              AHMEDABAD: Since its first outbreak in 2009, Ahmedabad city registered 61 new cases, the highest number of swine flu patients on a single day, in the state on Sunday.

                              The state also registered 11 deaths as well as 117 new H1N1 positive cases ? the highest till now. This has taken the death toll to 81.

                              Ahmedabad registered a single death on Sunday that of an 82-year-old man from Gota area. Among the patients who have been confirmed of H1N1, five are below four years of age, including a one-year-old girl. The deadly disease is assuming mammoth proportions and is already worrying the state health department in eight major districts of the state. Since January 1, 744 swine flu cases have been reported in Gujarat.

                                H1N1 kills 11 more on Sunday

                                VADODARA/AHMEDABAD: The deadly H1N1 virus, commonly known as swine flu, is spreading fast across Gujarat. On Sunday alone, 11 more people succumbed to the disease, taking the death toll to 81 since January 1.

                                According to official report, three people died in VAdodara, two people each died in Kutch, Ahmedabad and Surat while one death each was reported from Dahod, Narmada and Surendranagar.

                                Swine flu has raised its head in 19 districts of the state and 117 new cases were reported on Sunday. Highest number of cases were reported from Ahmedabad (46), followed by Surat (17) and Kutch (16).

                                In Vadodara, swine flu claimed three more lives in the city, taking the death toll to 12 on Sunday. As many as 12 new positive cases of swine flu were reported on Saturday night and five cases were reported on Sunday, taking the number of positive cases to 113 since January 1.

                                A 37-year-old man from New Sama Road suspected of H1N1 infection died on Saturday night at a private hospital in the city. Two swine flu patients died at SSG Hospital (SSGH) on Sunday. A 53-year-old man from Godhra and a five-year-old girl from Narmada district died at SSGH in less than 48 hours of being admitted.

                                The health authorities have collected 186 blood samples so far, of which 73 have been tested negative. Sixty seven patients continue to be under treatment even as 13 patients are in a critical condition. Thirty five patients have been discharged from various hospitals in the city so far.
