  • Swine flu claims six in MP
    Jabalpur, MP, Sep 23 (UNI) With the death of two women here, the toll due to swine flu has gone up to six in this district during this month.
    According to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Medical College sources here, two women were admitted with ymptoms of the disease on Saturday and Monday respectively.

    • One more succumbs to swine flu, toll

      BHOPAL: With death of another person, a suspected case of swine flu, in state capital on Wednesday, the deadly contagion has claimed four lives in four days and six lives so far this year.

      According to reports, the patient, Kailash, was admitted to district civil hospital after he condition deteriorated. He had recently returned from Nasik and had developed severe flu and other complications. .

      "Patient was admitted to H1N1 OPD at JP hospital. He was on life support for nearly 24 hours. He succumbed much before his swab sample results could be received," said JP hospital official.

      So far this year, including Wednesday's case, 6 people died due to H1N1 and over 40 have tested positive, making it one of worst swine flu outbreaks in the state capital.

      • Swine Flu toll up to 18 in state, seven in city

        BHOPAL : One more death due to Swine Flu was reported from Hamidia Hospital on Thursday. With two deaths in quick succession, the death toll in the state has risen to 18.

        However, the health department claimed that only 16 deaths had occurred. The two patients were admitted in swine flu wards in JP and Hamidia Hospitals.

          BHOPAL : The staff of Hamidia hospital says that there has been no death in the swine flu ward of Hamidia hospital till now. The swine flu ward at Hamidia, where only two nurses were attending two swine flu patients, said that no one died of swine flu there. There was no doctor on duty in the ward. The nurses informed that doctors visit the ward turn by turn and in case of emergency they are called.

          Dr. DK Pal, Superintendent, Hamidia Hospital confirmed that two Swine Flu patients have died at Hamidia who were admitted in the ward. When asked about the nurse?s lack of knowledge about swine flu deaths in the ward, he said that the duty has been assigned in shifts, it is possible that these nurses were not present when the deaths occurred.

                • One more swine flu death in Bhopal, toll rises to 8

                  BHOPAL: A 55-year-old man died of swine flu, making it eighth H1N1 death in the state capital this season. On Monday, four more tested positive for swine flu.

                  So far this season, more than 35 people have tested positive for deadly swine flu contagion. Going by government estimates, almost 1/4 of swine flu positive patients do not survive.

                  The latest death was reported from a private hospital. The dead was admitted to a hospital two days ago with low levels of oxygen and was put on ventilator life-support. Gandhi Medical College (GMC) doctor was asked to inspect line of treatment of the middle-aged man. The patient was a diabetic with severe respiratory complications.

                  Four other swine flu patients are on life-support in the state capital. Health department has formed a five member team of government doctors to inspect and review H1N1 facilities in private hospitals.

                    • Madhya Pradesh court orders vaccination of pigs and humans against Swine flu

                      BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh high court on Wednesday ordered state government to vaccinate pigs against swine influenza viruses and control its spread to humans besides ensuring storage of ample medicines at hospitals to control it.

                      The double bench at Gwalior has also asked government steps taken by them to control swine flu while hearing a PIL filed by former vice chancellor of Jiwaji University D S Chandel who claimed that swine flu 215 deaths were reported in the state 2014 following adequate arrangements by the state.

                      Comment: A pretty fair reflection of Indian health policy. Garbage numbers - 9 confirmed H1N1 deaths in 2014 not 2015. Garbage science - Implication that H1N1 influenza is currently being transmitted by pigs to humans rather than human-to-human. Then a mandate without funding (vaccinating pigs) that will actually reduce the resources available to diagnose & treat people. Very sad. - Ro
