    Earlier this week, Hajdu-Bihar county, a goose farm is located near the village of Prodan has been identified in Hungary can be found in H5N8 avian influenza virus that humans still pose a threat - said Lajos Bognar Chief veterinarian.


    The infected flock, over 10 thousand animals are slaughtered and the premises disinfected. The site is surrounded by a 3 and a 10-kilometer protection and surveillance zones established.

    Bird flu discovered in NE Hungary

    Budapest, December 23 (MTI) – Avian influenza was identified in geese at a farm in Hajd?-Bihar County, in northeast Hungary, early in the week, Lajos Bogn?r, Hungary’s chief veterinarian, said on Friday, responding to a query by MTI.

    More than 10,000 birds have been culled at the farm and a 3 kilometre protection zone and a 10 kilometre surveillance zone have been established around the site.

    Outbreaks of the H5N8 strain of bird flu were earlier discovered in B?cs-Kiskun, Bekes, Csongr?d and J?sz-Nagykun-Szolnok Counties, in southeast and central Hungary.
