    Five people have now died in Quebec due to the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, while the number of confirmed cases in the province has climbed to 181.

    The Quebec government announced the additional 4 deaths and 42 new confirmed cases on Saturday. Officials said 4 of the 5 deaths were of individuals who lived at the same seniors’ residence.
    “That’s why we took measures that were criticized at first, but its in this context it [has to be done],” said Public Health director Dr. Horacio Arruda in Saturday’s press conference.

    Ten people are currently in intensive care and another 10 people are being treated for the virus in hospital...

      The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Quebec has climbed to 219 and 24 people are now hospitalized due to the virus in the province.

      The Quebec government announced the additional 38 confirmed novel coronavirus cases on Sunday and made a correction to the number of COVID-19 deaths in the province that officials announced on Saturday.

      Health officials previously said the province had 5 coronavirus related deaths, but said one of those victims who was believed to have been infected was not. The individual’s test came back negative.

      Premier Francois Legault did confirm that the 4 confirmed COVID-19 deaths were of people who lived in the same seniors residence...

        The number of novel coronavirus cases in Quebec has spiked to 628, the province’s premier announced on Monday afternoon.

        “We are entering a new stage,” said Fran?ois Legault during a news conference in Quebec City.

        There are 45 people who are hospitalized and 20 of them are in intensive care.

        The new count includes both confirmed and probable cases in the province — but that means the province needs to roll out more stringent measures to slow the spread, according to Legault....

          The number of novel coronavirus cases in Quebec has now climbed to 1,013 as of Tuesday afternoon.

          Quebec Premier Fran?ois Legault confirmed that 67 people are hospitalized and 30 of them are in intensive care.

          “Our priority for the next three weeks is to avoid contagion,” said Legault.

          The surge in cases comes as all Quebec businesses considered to be non-essential services must close their doors as of midnight on Tuesday.

          The province announced the partial shutdown, which will last until April 13, on Monday in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19...

            MONTREAL -- Quebec has 1,339 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday afternoon and two more patients have died, provincial health officials announced.

            That's up sharply from the 1,013 cases that were reported Tuesday afternoon. There are now six deaths in Quebec linked to COVID-19.

            Seventy-eight patients are in hospitals in the province, with 35 of them in intensive care...

                  MONTREAL -- Quebec now has 2,498 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Saturday afternoon and four more patients have died from the disease, provincial health officials announced.

                  That's up 477 from the 2,021 cases that were reported Friday afternoon.

                  There are now 22 deaths in Quebec linked to COVID-19, up from the 18 that were reported 24 hours earlier.

                  Of the confirmed COVID-19 patients in the province, 164 are in hospital, with 57 of them in intensive care.

                        The novel coronavirus pandemic has claimed the lives of three more Quebecers, bringing the province’s fatalities to a total of 25.

                        Premier Fran?ois Legault announced on Monday that COVID-19 cases jumped to 3,430 — up 590 from previous day.

                        The illness has led to 235 hospitalizations and 78 individuals are in intensive care. While the virus is spreading, Legault stressed that the province is ready.

                            MONTREAL -- Quebec now has 4,611 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 33 deaths, Premier Francois Legault said in his daily news briefing on Wednesday.

                            The death toll is up two from the 31 announced on Tuesday, and cases are up by 449.

                            Of those that have tested positive, 307 are in hospital, 82 of which are in intensive care.

                            Legault said the government was able to free up 6,000 hospital beds in recent days, adding that officials don’t believe hospitalizations will reach that number at the peak of the pandemic...

                                Quebec has 6,101 cases and 61 deaths attributable to COVID-19. That is an increase of 25 deaths and includes those newly confirmed as caused by the virus. There are 429 people in hospital, including 122 in intensive care.
                                Montreal is the "epicentre" of the outbreak, with 2,837 cases.
                                Verdun Hospital has more than 30 cases among staff and patients.
                                Communities in Nunavik are under lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus.
