Re: Warning regarding H1N1 and Omega 3

I really don't know, but Norway is having a very tough time with H1N1 for some reason. Having grown up in Norway a spoonfull of Omega 3 fishoil is a daily ritual.

Re: Warning regarding H1N1 and Omega 3

I know these claims come and go but I take fish oil daily. Since the last couple of months I have been taking selenium, red rice yeast and monolaurin.

I fluctuate regimes and may go to D3, Vitamin C, Lystine, Silver, elderberry and so on.....

Though I don't recommend these for anybody I have accumulated an array of products from past readings on viruses over the years that I had planed to stagger in my daily homeopathic's.

I have not had a Omega 3 problem and have been in some serious public gatherings due to my work occasionally. No infections to date. (knock on wood.)

Mostly 90% SIP now for the winter.

After reading this I may stop Omega 3 for awhile......

Who or what do ya believe?

PS. There's always tomato based foods and sauerkraut and so on. From what I have read consuming high acidic foods make the body unpleasant for viruses.

We all have to come up with our own daily system we feel confident in. Yours may vary. I cannot speak for everyone just from personal experience.

Who or what do ya believe?

Corn:
PS. There's always tomato based foods and sauerkraut and so on. From what I have read consuming high acidic foods make the body unpleasant for viruses.
I've also heard that the body pH is a very tight range and healthy people's pH doesn't vary enough to make a difference. But, I think I can feel my whole body react to a diet of too much acidic foods. My body doesn't seem to like too many fresh tomatoes.

I often wonder if eating high acidic foods/drinks can in some way temporarily alter the pH of mucous or the membranes?

Re: Warning regarding H1N1 and Omega 3

I would not recommend doing anything new or out of the ordinary in terms of pH adjusting.
Keep your cells healthy and happy, that is your best defense if virus can not be avoided.

Re: Warning regarding H1N1 and Omega 3

First the Vit. D3 doubts of efficacity,
additionaly bewared to whome have high blood pressure,

at the same time I didn't heard any more of statins,
which also have side effects if used without necessity,

now it is omega3, which was supposed to help,
and now it pop out the contrary ...

This chimera of flu seems to evade many of the ways humans found previously helplfull, and have strange multifaced various behaviour worldwide.

It is as somebody experimenting enaugh until found a kind of scam which is so unpredictable.

As I understand until now, by plain ordinary words,
if a person's immunity is a fast reaction type, and powerfull, it will beat the virus at the very begining with little or no damage because there were small virus proliferation and thus a small non problematic cytokine reaction.

But if the above is not the case, and the immunity is of the slow one,
than such additional compounds (omega3/.../) increased the power of the immune system, but not its naturaly slow reaction on identifying the virus intruders,
so in such immune system, the use of immune enhancers will be worst, because during its slow-type of immune reaction, the viruses will fast proliferate (without early antiviral meds) and that will prompt an enormous cytokine reaction few/several days after (when the immune system reacts), because additionaly enhanced by the used immune reinforcing compounds.

But the death rate in Scotland is higher than Norway and we don't take much omega 3 or eat very healthy..

This scam virus is obviously strange,
and the official advisory gurus scrambles many times views and studies,
so it seems safer for them to not made many public standpoints worldwide, a thing which seems they observed mainly ...

As individualistic viral influxes could be more important than an supposed to work global generic compound/intake panacea influx (as it is proved for the meds),
than the same action of taking omega3, or whatever, could probably have diferent individual outcomes in the general population of various areas.

Probably the researchers are stil in a compact fog about, for now.
If not, solid answers are espected before the viral war ends, even before the 2nd wave battle,
not after all is finished in a form of scientific "memories" books ...

Re: Warning regarding H1N1 and Omega 3

Yes, I agree. People just don't KNOW and are casting around for reasons eh.

Re: Warning regarding H1N1 and Omega 3

Very interesting study. Let's not dismiss this out of hand. We have very complicated metabolisms.

Regarding acidity - are you referring to the article posted by Shiloh: http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125209&highlight=acid+bacteria
Popular stomach acid reducer triples risk of developing pneumonia

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A popular stomach-acid reducer used to prevent stress ulcers in critically ill patients needing breathing machine support increases the risk of those patients contracting pneumonia threefold, according to researchers at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Hospital-acquired pneumonia is the leading cause of infection-related deaths in critically ill patients. It increases hospital stays by an average of seven to nine days, cost of care, and the risk of other complications.

"As best we can tell, patients who develop hospital-acquired pneumonia or ventilator-acquired pneumonia have about a 20 to 30 percent chance of dying from that pneumonia," said senior study author David L. Bowton, M.D., professor and head of the Section on Critical Care in the Department of Anesthesiology. "It's a significant event."

The study, published in a recent issue of CHEST, compared treatment with two drugs that decrease stomach acid: ranitidine, marketed under the name ZantacTM, and pantoprazole, marketed under the name ProtonixTM or PrilosecTM.

Both drugs decrease stomach acid, but the newer pantoprazole is considered more powerful and has become the drug of choice in many hospitals.

However, in the analysis of 834 patient charts, the researchers found that hospitalized cardiothoracic surgery patients treated with pantoprazole were three times more likely to develop pneumonia....snip

Re: Warning regarding H1N1 and Omega 3

Sorry but I recall a Peer Review stating that Omega 3 is good for the lungs reaction and omega 6 is bad.

Re: Warning regarding H1N1 and Omega 3

Cardiologists also recommended omega3 in a case of heart problems.

At the same time we have the post #4:
"On the Swedish authorities' information page about the pandemic, one can read that Omega-3 seems to weaken the immune system. Men svenske myndigheter frar?der ikke bruken av Omega-3. But the Swedish authorities do not discourage the use of Omega-3."

so we rounded the circle again by those "war of studies"
(could we thrown down all )

 who will make the final judgment on which is more correct:

1 - omega3 reinforce the preventive immunity, and is good for the lungs/heart/..., and pandemic prevention in all subjects

2 - omega3 reinforce the preventive immunity, and is good for the lungs/heart/...,
but in some individuals which immune system tends to late react to respiratory infectious illnesses, could enable more the stage for an cytokine late reaction, so it is bad to take it as pandemic prevention

3 - omega3 is good for the lungs/heart/...,
but weakens the immune system, so it is not good as an immune enhancer and as pandemic prevention
