3 more coronavirus deaths reported in Williamsburg, James City County and Newport News

Three hospitalized women in their 80s died of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Virginia Department of Health said Sunday.

The women were from Williamsburg, James City County and Newport News.

Two previously tested positive for COVID-19, one was a “newly positive” case.

Health officials said one was a resident of a long-term care facility.

Virginia Beach man is state’s 7th coronavirus death
70-year-old man had underlying health conditions

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A seventh person has died after testing positive for the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in Virginia, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

A Virginia Beach man in his 70s had underlying health conditions and died of acute respiratory failure while hospitalized, VDH announced on Monday.

HENRICO CO., Va. (WSET) -- The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Virginia continues to rise.

The Virginia Department of Health announced on Tuesday that two more people have died from the coronavirus.

They said that the two people were elderly residents of the Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. They were among other residents at the facility being treated for the coronavirus.

Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia has recorded an additional three coronavirus-related deaths. State Epidimiologist Lillian Peake says two are from the Williamsburg area, and one is from the Danville-area. The fatalities bring Virginia's total to 12.

Virginia saw a one day jump of cases from Tuesday to Wednesday of 101. Peake says it is the result of more testing, as well as virus spread.

2 more coronavirus deaths reported in Virginia, raising total to 15

(WDBJ/WHSV) — As of the afternoon of March 26, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Virginia has risen to 15.


When the Virginia Department of Health website was updated with daily totals as of noon, there were 13 deaths — but as the day went on, two more were reported.

A 4th resident of the Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Henrico, identified as a man in his 70s, passed away on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, the Loudoun County Health Department in northern Virginia reported its first death of a patient who had been in a hospital and tested positive for the virus. The patient was a woman in her 70s.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center continue to deal with a coronavirus outbreak and now reports 19 positive cases as of Friday.

"We also sadly report, in total, the virus has claimed the lives of four Canterbury residents with confirmed COVID-19 diagnoses," administrators said.

Additionally, officials said two “presumed positive” residents died over the past 24 hours.


"Per guidance from the Henrico County Health Department, 10 patients are currently being treated onsite at Canterbury in an isolated unit with dedicated nursing and certified nursing assistant staff," officials said.

Officials said five other residents with COVID-19 are hospitalized.

Dr. Danny Avula, Director of Richmond and Henrico Health Departments, said Thursday the Far West End facility reported more than a dozen symptomatic patients. He says the total number of residents tested is unknown at this time.

Additionally, the facility reported six healthcare workers tested positive for COVID-19.

Canterbury announced Wednesday that a third resident who tested positive for COVID-19 died. This came one day after the facility announced two elderly residents who tested positive for COVID-19 died. The cases were the first deaths from the coronavirus in Central Virginia.

Over the past 13 days, 17 Canterbury residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

RICHMOND, Va. -- A resident at a Richmond Assisted Living facility has tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Beth Sholom Senior Living announced Wednesday that a resident at their Parkside Assisted Living facility tested positive for COVID-19.

The resident is in the hospital where he is receiving medical treatment.

(WDBJ7) -- 17 people have died from coronavirus in Virginia, according to the Virginia Department of Health. That's up from 14 cases reported Friday.

VDH is reporting 739 cases of coronavirus across the Commonwealth. That's an increase of 135 cases since Friday.

First Two Coronavirus Deaths Reported in Arlington

Arlington health officials announced the city's first two deaths related to COVID-19 on Sunday.

One patient was 72 years old with chronic medical conditions, who had been ill with COVID-19 for a few weeks. The other patient was 60 years old with chronic medical conditions, identified with COVID-19 this past week.
