Maracay EMERGENCY! Crisis at Central Hospital for dangerous VIRUS

:tiphat:PIC OF VICTIM
Editor / Sep 11, 2014 @ 1:01 pm
From early morning numerous reports on Twitter and emails from doctors who contacted our newsroom reporting an emergency in HCM by the presence of Neisseria meningitidis bacteria causing meningococcemia.
so far there are 3 cases reported and although there are rumors of deaths, this information has not been confirmed by any official means.
Meningococcemia is a bacterial infection of the blood due to Neisseria meningitidis. This bacterium is most famous for causing meningococcal meningitis, which may also be present in meningococcemia. Bloodstream infections are sometimes called "blood poisoning" or septicemia.

The reports are all over the place. It is clear that some kind of disease outbreak in underway, but far from clear what.

The mention of Ebola is gratuitous; without a link to Africa, or mention of infection of HCW (or familiar clustering, for that matter), it seems unlikely. Meningoccocal disease may be behind some of these cases, and there is at least one report suggesting that some form of hospital-acquired sepsis may be going on as well.

The timing here is not consistent with Ebola (or an Ebola-like spread), as all these cases happened essentially at once, not over several weeks in generations.

Dengue and Venezuelan hemorrhagic fevers should also be investigating for patients presenting with symptoms of hemorrhagic fever in Venezuela.

It sure sounds like more than one thing is going on here.
