Venezuela confirms four new cases of Covid-19, totaling 159
Caracas, Apr 5 (Prensa Latina) The Venezuelan government reported today the identification of four new cases of SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus infection, with which there are 159 infections in the South American nation.

In a press conference from the Miraflores Palace (headquarters of the Executive), the vice president, Delcy Rodr?guez, specified that the four patients infected with the pathogen are located in Miranda (2) - the state with the highest incidence of the pandemic-, Sucre (1 ) and the insular territory of Nueva Esparta (1).

The vice-president explained that 52 people are already fully recovered, according to the criteria of the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the absence of symptoms for several days and negative results in diagnostic tests.

Likewise, 34 patients remain admitted to Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers and 31 in home isolation, while 21 receive treatments in the so-called sentinel hospitals, and 14 in private clinics.

Rodr?guez noted that the death toll remains at seven, with no fatal outcomes reported in the last 48 hours.

He stressed that to date the health authorities have visited more than 98 thousand people in their homes who reported presenting any symptoms associated with the disease when responding to the online survey published by the Executive.

He also stressed that Venezuela is at the forefront of the region in mass screening, after carrying out more than 54,200 diagnostic tests, for an average of 1,750 tests for every million inhabitants.

Vice President Rodr?guez urged the population to maintain the social and collective quarantine decreed by the Bolivarian Government as the axis of its strategy to contain the pandemic, which globally has left a balance of 1,265,000 infections and 69,000 deaths to date.

According to Rodr?guez, of all the cases, 39 are in home isolation, 24 in Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers (CDI), 15 in public hospitals, 13 in private clinics and 2 in hotels. Also, 65 patients are fully recovered.

"Those people who test positive and are in home isolation must be very careful because we are noticing intra-household or intra-family infections. If a person tested positive and is in their home, even if they are asymptomatic, they must have total isolation," added the minister.

The Venezuelan authority emphasized that the virus has affected the male population the most. "It's about 86 men and 79 women."

On March 26 he entered the ICU without showing improvement and died on Wednesday afternoon.
