Medical staff are investigating cases of winter vomiting virus at Monklands Hospital in Airdrie.

NHS Lanarkshire said the infection, which has affected patients in seven wards at Monklands Hospital, Airdrie, is being closely monitored by an outbreak control team.
The health board said the wards have been closed to new admissions, and no new patients will be brought in until the infection has been "eradicated".
MSP demands answers over Monklands hospital norovirus outbreak
Elaine Smith MSP has demanded answers from Deputy First Minister and Health Minister Nicola Sturgeon over what has caused the on-going norovirus outbreak at Monklands hospital.
The Coatbridge and Chryston MSP raised an urgent Parliamentary question to ask Ms Sturgeon to begin an inquiry into the cause of the viral outbreak which saw seven wards closed and around 100 patients and 20 staff affected.
Following the outbreak, NHS Lanarkshire said that no new patients would be admitted until the infection was eradicated.
Norovirus outbreak continues to disrupt Winchester hospital

AN outbreak of Norovirus continues to disrupt Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.
The hospital was forced to close two wards on Monday to try and contain the vomiting bug, which is particularly active in winter.
Both Shawford and Victoria wards, which care for elderly patients, remain closed today (Wednesday) and a hospital spokesman confirmed there were 41 patients displaying symptoms of the virus, with 13 confirmed cases.

WARDS have been closed and visitors are being warned to stay away due to an outbreak of Norovirus ? winter diarrhoea and vomiting ? at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

A spokesman for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals Foundation Trust added: ?The public should not be surprised that we have closed wards. By ?close?, we mean that no new patients are admitted to the ward to protect them from the risk of infection, and to enable us to care for those who are already in hospital.
Wards at Southampton General Hospital closed after bug outbreak

BOSSES at Southampton General Hospital last night closed two wards to new admissions due to outbreaks of diarrhoea and vomiting - just 24 hours after two wards in Winchester were struck down by the vomiting bug.
Relatives are being urged to think before they visit Southampton General, the Princess Anne Hospital or Countess Mountbatten House hospice to help stop it spreading.
Hospital chiefs have not named the two wards involved.

An outbreak of the winter norovirus bug has closed scores of hospital beds.
Eighty-two beds have been closed on two wards and bays at the 500-bed Northwick Park in Harrow after patients developed the diarrhoea and vomiting illness.
Mark Purcell, of Northwick Park, said 14 patients were confirmed as having norovirus and two more probably had it but were awaiting test results.
One ward is scheduled to reopen tomorrow after beds were deep cleaned.
And the Richard Wells Ward was closed at Bedford Hospital to stop the spread of the contagious viral gastroenteritis among patients, visitors and staff.

VISITING times have been restricted to one hour a day at three Weston General Hospital wards after an outbreak of a vomiting virus.
The Grange Road site is limiting access to it Kewstoke, Berrow and Draycott wards to try to halt the spread of the winter bug.
Hospital bosses say the bug enters the hospital from the community ? and it now wants the public to play a part in helping control the spread of the virus.
Ian Bramley, director of nursing at Weston Area Health NHS Trust, said: ?The winter vomiting bug affects the whole community at this time of year, including schools, care homes and local businesses, because it spreads easily where people mix.

The winter diarrhoea and vomiting bug has affected 35 hospitals, with hundreds of beds unavailable after 27 wards were shut in the past two weeks to isolate infected patients and deep cleaned.
Overall confirmed individual cases across the country from July to mid-December are 19 per cent higher than during the same period last year

THE number of NHS beds closed due to the winter vomiting bug has more than doubled in a week, figures revealed today.
Department of Health data for England reveals the average number of beds closed per day rocketed from 720 to 1,545 between December 11 and December 18.
The beds were shut due to diarrhoea and vomiting or norovirus-like symptoms.
More than 40 NHS trusts are known to be effected by the massive norovirus outbreak and most have closed wards to visitors in a bid to prevent it spreading.
