Does anyone know how many test / day the UK can run? I seem to remember it was 1,500 and the plan was to get to 10,000 but do not know if this has been reached or exceeded. This quote is from Kiwibird's post on the previous page "A total of 56,221 people have been tested in the UK, with 53,595 negative results. " given that ratio you would need about 20,000 tests per day to find today's 967 new cases. If we have not already done so we look like we are going to run out of testing capacity shortly.

Ronan thanks. Then they are getting more positives so probably all being used on highly probable case. On those figures we will need only 10,000 test per day increasing at the same rate as cases. Cases increased by about 2.5 times in the five days between the two reports.

First UK doctor to die with coronavirus passes away at Leicester's hospitals
Amged El-Hawrani was 55
A 55-year-old doctor who caught coronavirus has died at Leicester's hospitals.
The Mirror reported that the ear nose and throat (ENT) consultant, Amged El-Hawrani, had been on the frontline in dealing with cases of the virus at Queen's Hospital Burton.
He died yesterday evening at Glenfield Hospital. He is the first hospital worker to be killed by Covid-19 in this country.
