The Ministry of Public Health announced on Thursday that as of April 8, 2020, 15 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus have been registered in addition to 18 other positive cases among the old confirmed cases out of 692 analyzes carried out, bringing to 643 the total number of contaminations.

A press release published by the ministry, indicates that 230 analyzes were carried out in the reference laboratory of the Charles Nicolle hospital, 316 analyzes at the Institut Pasteur in Tunis, 32 analyzes at the Fatouma Bourguiba laboratory in Monastir, 78 analyzes at the laboratory of the Farhat Hached hospital in Sousse, and 36 analyzes at the laboratory of Habib Bourguiba hospital in Sfax bringing the total number of analyzes carried out since the start of the COVID-19 health crisis to 8,274.

The cases of contamination by the virus have been detected in 22 governorates and are distributed as follows:

In 24 hours, the Tunisian Ministry of Health has identified 21 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 following 590 screening tests, bringing the total number of people infected with this virus to 747 positive tested cases, including 34 deaths.

Tunisia registered, in 24 hours, some 42 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 as well as two new deaths, which brings to 822 the number of positive tested cases and to 37 that of deaths due to the virus, announced Thursday evening Tunisian Ministry of Health.

The ministry carried out, during the last 24 hours, 793 screening tests, distributed on six laboratories to thus total 13,930 samples since March 2, date of the first confirmed case in Tunisia.

The new coronavirus is now spread across all 24 provinces of Tunisia, including 399 confirmed cases and 18 deaths in the four provinces of Grand Tunis.

Siliana (northwest), the only province until Wednesday intact, officially detected its first confirmed case of local community contamination with COVID-19.

Regarding the speed of propagation of COVID-19 (outside of Grand-Tunis), the two provinces of Sousse (east coast) and Medenine (south-east) remain the most infected with 68 and 81 cases tested positive, respectively .

As for deaths due to the virus, five cases are listed in Sousse and five others in Sfax (the second economic province of the country after the capital, Tunis), always according to the daily epidemiological assessment of the Tunisian Ministry of Health.

"Screening tests are carried out mainly for suspected cases and probably carriers of the virus in addition to those in contact with confirmed cases," said the Tunisian Ministry of Health.
