Hyderabad: Nodal officer, swine flu centre, Gandhi Hospital, Dr K Narasimhulu has confirmed on Thursday that a woman who died on Saturday had swine flu.

A woman (52) from Musheerabad was admitted at Gandhi hospital with serious pneumonia around September 2. Observing the symptoms of swine flu, the doctors sent swab samples to the Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) but before the report came she died on September 5.

Woman succumbs to swine flu

Hyderabad: A 26-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the state-run Gandhi Hospital here for swine flu, succumbed on Friday, health officials said.


The woman, a native of Medak district of Telangana, was in advanced stage of labour when she was admitted to the hospital for swine flu infection. She delivered a baby last week.

This was the second case of swine flu death in the city this year, hospital superintendent G Venkateshwarlu said.

HYDERABAD: Two women succumbed to swine flu in the city even as five more tested positive for the virus by Institute of Preventive Medicine on Monday.

The deceased were identified as 54-year-old woman from Mahbubnagar and another woman from Old City, whose details including her age, contact number and address were not furnished by IPM to the authorities, said health department officials.

HYDERABAD: Swine Flu seems to be spreading at an alarming rate as it claimed one more life on Monday, that of a 60-year-old woman, while test report of a 55-year-old woman, who died on September 12, which was out on Monday, revealed that she too died of swine flu taking the number of deaths to four in the last one month.

Death of the 55-year-old woman from Mahbubnagar on Saturday left many officials perplexed as it was recorded that samples from the patient were sent from Gandhi Hospital to the Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) for tests on September 12, morning while the patient died at 4 a.m. on the same day. The test reports were, however, tabled by 4.30 p.m.

A 60-year woman died in a private hospital in Hyderabad and another 32-year-old woman died at Gandhi Hospital here on Monday. With these two, the number of deaths due to complications from swine flu has gone up to four this September.

A 23-year-old woman from Rapthadu of Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and a man in his late 40s of Neredmet in the city died of swine flu while undergoing treatment at Gandhi hospital here on Thursday.
The woman was the first person from AP to have died of swine flu this season, the health officials said. The Health Director of the AP would be informed of the death to take further preventive steps in that State, they said. The man from Neredmet was admitted three days ago. With his death, total number of deaths caused by swine flu since August 29 this year rose to five in Telangana. Twelve persons diagnosed with swine flu were being treated at the hospital.

Telangana: 5 deaths due to swine flu reported since Aug

Swine flu and complications related to the vector-borne disease have claimed five lives in Telangana since August 1, the state government said today.

"In the current season from August 1 till September 27, 767 samples have been tested, out of which 121 were found to be positive and the number of deaths because of other complications and swine flu as on date is five," a bulletin on the vector-borne said.

One more dies of swine flu
One more person, a 31-year-old woman from Banjara Hills died of complications arising out of swine flu at the State-run Gandhi Hospital here on Tuesday, health authorities said. So far, between August and September 29, the total number of deaths due to swine flu is seven while the number of positive patients due to swine flu as on September 28 is 123.
According to health officials, nine more persons have tested positive for swine flu on Tuesday while there are another 10 suspected cases of flu admitted to various hospitals in the capital.
Health authorities have maintained that sufficient stock of medicines, testing kits and kits for viral transport medium for swine flu testing are available in all the government hospitals in Telangana.

According to Dr G Venkate?swarlu, Superintendent, Gandhi Hospital, 28-year-old Lavanya, who was suffering from pneumonia and was put on ventilator in the Swine Flu ward, died on Thursday morning around 10.30 am while on treatment. Lavanya died of respiratory failure, he said. According to official data from the Health department, across the Telangana from August 1 to October 15, as many as 1,779 samples had been tested, out of which 318 were found to be positive and seven deaths were reported with other complications and swine flu.

[h=1]Pregnant woman from Yadgir dies of suspected H1N1 in Hyderabad[/h] A 31-year-old woman in advanced stage of pregnancy, hailing from Tinthani village in Surpur taluk in Yadgir district, died at KIMS hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday due to suspected H1 N1, according to District Health Officer Amaresh Koiluru.
The deceased has been identified as Godhavari Gangadharaswamy Gudi. According to Dr. Koiluru, she was suffering from severe fever, cough, cold and breathlessness since October 21. She was at her parent?s place at Gurgunta in Lingasugur taluk in Raichur district for delivery.
Initially, she was given treatment at private hospitals in Lingsugur town and Raichur before admitting her in the hospital at Hyderabad on October 23. However, the patient failed to respond to the treatment and breathed her last on October 27.
Mr. Koiluru also said that he would confirm whether she died due to H1 N1 after getting the medical reports from Hyderabad.
A team of doctors from Surpur and Yadgir are being sent to Tinthini to take precautionary measures.

Swine flu claims four more lives in Telangana

Hyderabad: Two women who had given birth recently were among the four persons who succumbed to swine flu in the city on Thursday, taking the total number of deaths to 14 since August 1.

Officials said 21-year-old woman who had delivered a baby 10 days ago succumbed to swine flu at Gandhi Hospital early on Thursday morning. At Kushaiguda, a 23-year-old new mother succumbed to swine flu.

A woman from Nalgonda, who was undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital, died of the infection while a two-year old girl from Addagutta died in a private hospital in the city.

Earlier in the day, angry relatives of the 21-year-old woman staged a protest outside Gandhi Hospital as the woman had been on ventilator support for the last nine days and her situation hadn?t improved. The relatives had shifted her from Aware Global Hospitals to Gandhi Hospital but her condition was very critical and she died.
