7 NEW COVID-19 DEATHS, BRINGING TOTAL TO 65

The Health Ministry today announced that the country's Covid-19 cases have risen to 3 635 with seven new deaths, bringing the total to 65

In a statement the ministry said the total number of tests conducted to date was 133 774, of which 6 868 were done in the last 24 hours.

WESTERN CAPE COVID-19 CASES SOAR, NEW EPICENTRE OF SA OUTBREAK

The Western Cape has now recorded the highest number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country, with the latest toll in the province standing at 28. This surpasses the death toll in KwaZulu-Natal where 27 people have died.

The Western Cape now has 1,279 cases, accounting for 32.4% of the country's total cases of 3,953.

Gauteng has the second most cases at 1,252, representing 31.7% of the total cases, although its death toll is far lower at 8.

On Thursday Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said there had been a steady increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases, with 318 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,953.

He also reported that 10 more people had died from the virus, taking the country's total death toll to 75.

4 new deaths brings the total to 79

The ministry of health reported that 267 more people have tested positive for the virus. The current tally sits at 4 220 cases.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa is 4 793, an increase of 247 since the figure announced on Sunday.

The total number of tests conducted to date is 178 470, of which 9 827 were done in the last 24 hours.

"We regret to report a further three deaths: two from the Western Cape and one from KZN. This brings the total cumulative COVID-19 related deaths to 90," Health Minister Zweli Mhkhize said on Monday evening in a statement.

A 79-year-old male from the Western Cape presented with shortness of breath and chest pain. His co-morbidities included diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease and cardiac disease.

Also in the Western Cape, a 58-year-old male presented with imminent cardiovascular arrest. He was a person living with HIV and had obesity.

The third death was in KZN where a 54-year-old male presented with respiratory distress. He had underlying diabetes.
 
There are three more deaths in South Africa, bringing the total to 93.

All three deaths are in the Western Cape province and had underlying conditions, said Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize.

Mkhize said there are 4 996 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 185 497 tests have been done.

Covid-19 cases now at nearly 6 000, 13 more deaths

The Health Department has announced 13 more people have died from Covid-19, bringing the death toll to 116.

People who died were from the Western Cape, Gauteng, KZN and the Eastern Cape.

The Western Cape still has the highest number of cases, with 2 507, followed by Gauteng with 1 507, and KZN with 1 006.

COVID-19 CASES NOW AT 7 220, DEATH TOLL RISES TO 138

The Department of Health on Monday said that the country's confirmed COVID-19 cases was now at 7,220.

The department also confirmed 7 more coronavirus-related deaths, bring the death toll to 138.

The Western Cape continues to be the province with the most cases with 3 362, followed by Gauteng with 1 661 and KwaZulu-Natal with 1 106.

To date, 257 541 tests have been conducted with 11 794 tests done in the past 24 hours.
