Saskatchewan reported 244 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, along with 11 additional deaths related to the illness.

The deaths reported included one person in their 40s from the far northeast zone, two people in their 60s — one from the north central zone and one from Saskatoon — and two people in their 70s, from the far northeast and northwest zones.

The other six deaths were people in their 80s: two from the Saskatoon zone, and four from the Regina zone.

The province has now reported 274 COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began. Of those, 132 were in January.

On Thursday, the province's caseload grew to 23,038. Here's where the new cases are:

Far northwest: 25.
Far north central: seven.
Far northeast: 14.
Northwest: 20.
North central: 13.
Northeast: six.
Saskatoon zone: 70.
Central west: five.
Central east: 10.
Regina zone: 54.
South central: four.
Southeast: 16.

REGINA -- Sask. reports 328 new COVID-19 cases, 7 deaths

Saskatchewan added 328 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, along with seven deaths and 300 recoveries.

One person in their 50s died in the Northeast; three people in their 70s died, they were from the Northwest zone, Regina and Saskatoon; and three people in their 80s died, one was from the Northwest zone and two were from Regina.

So far, 292 people in Saskatchewan have died from the virus.

The new cases are in the Far Northwest (30), Far North Central (3), Far Northeast (16), Northwest (27), North Central (26), Northeast (13), Saskatoon (90), Central West (9), Central East (25), Regina (58), South West (1), South Central (3) and Southeast (19) zones....

Just over 10 months since the first case of the illness was identified in the province, 300 people in Saskatchewan have now died of COVID-19.

Nearly half of the total deaths in Saskatchewan — 145 — occurred within the last month.

The province reported eight new deaths Saturday, along with 258 new cases of COVID-19 and 228 recoveries from the illness.

The deaths reported include one person in their 60s from the north central zone, and three people in their 70s — from the central east, far northeast and Saskatoon zones.

Four people in their 80s have also died — one from the north central zone, one from the Regina area and two from the Saskatoon zone.

On Saturday, the province's total caseload to date grew to 23,626. Here's where the new cases are:

Far northwest: 10.
Far north central: six.
Far northeast: 20.
Northwest: 40.
North central: 26.
Northeast: 14.
Saskatoon: 45.
Central west: one.
Central east: nine.
Regina zone: 53.
Southwest: five.
South central: two.

Saskatchewan tallied 147 new COVID-19 cases on Monday – the lowest daily case count this year. The province also announced two more deaths.

The two people who died were older than 80 and both were from the Northwest zone. So far, 306 people have died in Saskatchewan. January was the deadliest month for the virus in the province; 153 people died due to COVID-19 complications – which is equal to the death toll of the first nine months of the pandemic.

There are 202 people in hospital; 30 people are in intensive care...

8 COVID-19-related deaths, 223 new cases reported in Saskatchewan

Eight COVID-19-related deaths were reported by Saskatchewan health officials on Tuesday.

Two death deaths were reported in the Saskatoon zone — a person in their 70s and a person aged 80-plus. Two deaths were also reported in the southeast zone — a person in their 70s and a person aged 80-plus.


Deaths of a person in their 40s in the northwest zone, a person in their 50s in the Regina zone and two people in their 60s in the northwest and north-central zone were also reported.

It raised the death toll in the province to 314 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The province reported 223 new cases on Tuesday, bringing the overall total to 24,236. Officials reported 266 recoveries, with a total of 21,602 individuals now recovered....

Saskatchewan reported 194 new cases of COVID-19 and eight more deaths on Wednesday.

Of the province's 24,430 total cases, 2,254 cases are considered active.

The seven-day average of daily new cases in Sask is 233 — 19.1 new cases per 100,000 population.

Of the eight deaths reported:

One death was in the 40 to 49 age group in Regina.
One death was in the 60 to 69 age group in Regina.
Three deaths were in the 70 to 79 age group in the central east, far north east and northwest zones.
Three deaths were in the 80 and over age group in the far northeast and southeast zones.

Of the new cases, 11 are located in the far northwest, two in the far north central, six in the far northeast, 26 in the northwest, 10 in the north central, eight in the northeast, 49 in Saskatoon, one in the central west, five in the central east, 62 in Regina and seven in the southeast zones.

A third case of the virus variant first detected in the U.K. has been detected in a Saskatoon resident.

The province also reported 250 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and seven more deaths.

The variant case travelled from Southeast Asia, according to the province. The person was tested mid-January and is no longer infectious.

The province says the testing process can take one to two weeks, because when travellers are tested for virus variants, the tests must be genome-sequenced at the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg.

The person with the coronavirus variant quarantined following travel, according to the province. Public health's contact investigation found that all contacts of the individual have been identified, and that there is no indication of further transmission...

Coronavirus: 3 new deaths as Saskatchewan approaches 25K total infections

Three more people who tested positive for COVID-19 have died, bringing Saskatchewan’s total up to 332.

One of the recently deceased was in the 80-plus age group and from the north central zone, according to a press release. Another was in their 70s from the far north west and one was in their 60s from the north east.

According to Friday’s update, there were 269 new cases, with the overall infection total in Saskatchewan now at 24,946. The new average of daily cases is down to 225, which is the lowest since Jan. 6, when it was 219.

Health officials said most of the new cases are located in the Saskatoon zone (66), followed by Regina (41), north west (30), north east (22), south east (22), north central (21), far north west (19), far north east (15), central east (10), central west (6), far north central (5), south central (4) as well as one in south west. Residence information is still pending for seven new infections...

Saskatchewan recorded 171 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, along with two more deaths and 328 recoveries.

The two residents who died were both from the Northwest zone. One person was in the 50s and the other was in their 70s. So far, 341 people have died of COVID-19 in the province.


The new cases are located throughout the province in the Far Northwest (16), Far North Central (8), Far Northeast (11), Northwest (10), North Central (10), Northeast (15), Saskatoon (34), Central West (3), Central East (3), Regina (43), South Central (1), and the Southeast (14) zones.

Saskatchewan health officials reported 80 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the lowest daily increase in new cases in three months and the first to dip below 100 since the end of December.

The results were based on 1,910 tests performed Monday, well below the province's stated target of 4,000 tests a day and also below an average of 2,625 tests processed each day over the previous week.

Saskatchewan has also experienced particularly frigid temperatures in recent days, which has affected testing availability in at least one area. The Saskatchewan Health Authority said its Prince Albert drive-thru testing site was closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday "due to the continuing extreme cold weather in the area."

The last time officials reported such a low daily increase was Nov. 2, when only 72 cases were reported. The last time the numbers dipped below 100 was Dec. 28, when 96 cases were recorded.

Daily new case numbers have zigzagged between the 100s and 200s recently, with the seven-day average being 203 as of Tuesday...

Saskatchewan reported 180 new cases of COVID-19 and two new virus-related deaths Wednesday.

A person in their 70s and another 80 or older died in Saskatoon, the daily update from the province said.

There were 58 new cases reported in the Regina zone, 43 in the Saskatoon zone, 22 in the far northwest, 19 in the north central, 17 in the northwest, five in the central east, four in the southeast, three in the far northeast, two in the northeast and one each in the south central and far north central zones.

Four other new cases were pending location information.

There were 2,353 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Tuesday.

Two more people who tested positive for COVID-19 have died, bringing Saskatchewan’s total deaths related to the pandemic up to 350.

One of the recently deceased was reported in their 40s from the Saskatoon zone while the other was in the 80-plus age group from central east, according to a press release from the provincial government.

According to Friday’s update, there were 195 new cases with the overall infection total in Saskatchewan now at 26,145. The new seven-day average of daily cases is down to 170, which is the lowest since Jan. 1, when it was 165....

Public health measures in Saskatchewan have been extended until at least March 19.

This means that indoor gatherings are still restricted to immediate household members only. People can still meet outside with up to 10 people, as long as physical distancing between households can be maintained.

All non-essential interprovincial travel is not recommended.

Restrictions on sports, fitness, dance and places of worship will stay in place. Mandatory masking is still in effect.

The government also announced 136 new cases of COVID-19 and three new deaths Tuesday.

One of the people who died was in their 40s from the far northwest zone, one was in their 50s from the northwest zone and one was in the 80+ age group in the far northwest zone.

REGINA -- The Government of Saskatchewan announced five people have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

Of the five new deaths, one person from the Saskatoon zone was in their 30s, one person from the Regina zone was in their 50s and three people were in the 80-plus age group, from the North West zone, Regina zone and Saskatoon zone.

The province also reported 124 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, along with 189 recoveries.
