The evolution of acute respiratory infections and flu season 2014-2015
Week 1/2015 (29.12.2014-04.01.2015)
From the Center for Disease Surveillance and Control
Communicable and National Influenza Center of INCDMI Cantacuzino appears that the
1/2015 week in Romania incidence of acute respiratory infections
falling within the expected level for this week. There were no
confirmed cases of influenza.

 At national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (cases
flu cases clinically compatible with influenza, acute respiratory infections
top <IACRS> and pneumonia) was 38,779, 15.5% lower
versus the previous week (underreporting
characteristic holidays and school holidays) and 2.6% higher
versus the same week of the previous season
(38.207);
 The week 1/2015 were recorded nationally 16 cases of influenza /
cases clinically compatible with influenza (ILI), more than the
recorded in week 1/2014 (3 cases);
 The week 1/2015 were recorded 2 cases of acute respiratory infections
severe (SARI), 1 less than the previous week and as in
same period of the previous season. There were no SARI cases
confirmed as influenza virus infection.
 was not communicated any flu death.
 Until 01.04.2015 were confirmed three cases of influenza:
January 1 case with virus type A, subtype H3
February 1 B virus cases

Until 01/04/2015 flu were vaccinated 387,353 people in
groups at risk of vaccine distributed by the Ministry of Health.

The house weekly influenza surveillance in Europe "WISO" respectively
"Flu News Europe" developed based electronic reporting system for TESSy
European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the Office
for Europe of the World Health Organization stated that during the week
1/2015, respectively 29.12.2014-04.01.2015 period, of the 35 countries that have sent
reports regarding the intensity of influenza, 7 have reported an increase in the intensity
flu at low to medium level. The proportion of positive sentinel specimens
influenza was 16% - similar to the previous week (17%) - but with a proportion
more positive in Western Europe (26%).

Predominant circulating type was type A, and 11 of 13 countries reported as type
dominant circulating A (H3N2).
Influenza season began in Europe: the proportion of positive samples
influenza was above 10% for the third consecutive week, although most countries
still report a low intensity influenza activity.
Of all influenza viruses detected by surveillance systems
Europe sentinel subtype A (H3N2) circulated predominant.

Communicable and National Influenza Center of INCDMI Cantacuzino appears that the
2/2015 week in Romania is sporadic influenza activity (were
isolated cases of laboratory confirmed influenza), low intensity,
incidence of acute respiratory infections falling within the expected level for
this week.

 There were six confirmed cases of influenza in unvaccinated persons
shot: 3 H3 subtype influenza A virus and influenza virus type B 3
 At national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (cases
flu cases clinically compatible with influenza, acute respiratory infections
top <IACRS> and pneumonia) was 77,409, 1.9 times higher than
that recorded in the previous week (underreporting feature Holidays
and school holidays) and 1.9% higher than that recorded in
same week of the previous season (75,974);
 The week 2/2015 there were 39 national flu cases / cases
clinically consistent with influenza <ILI>, more than those recorded in
2/2014 week (26 cases);
 The week 2/2015 were recorded 8 cases of acute respiratory infections
severe (SARI), 6 more than in the previous week and 2 fewer
compared to the same period of the previous season. It was first recorded case SARI
confirmed that infection with influenza virus (type B).
 was not communicated any flu death.
 Until 11/01/2015 9 cases were confirmed influenza:
4 cases with virus type A, subtype H3 (2 of Bucharest, 2 of jud. Iasi)
5 cases with type B virus (in Bucharest and County. County, Iasi, Bacau and Sibiu)

Until 01/11/2015 flu were vaccinated 419,727 people in
groups at risk of vaccine distributed by the Ministry of Health.

average in local outbreaks (Iasi, Constanta and Bucharest), with
sporadic cases in some counties, the incidence of acute respiratory infections
higher than the previous week and beyond the expected level.

 At national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (cases
flu cases clinically compatible with influenza, acute respiratory infections
top <IACRS> and pneumonia) was 106,551, 2.2% higher than
that recorded in the previous week and 23.7% compared with the
recorded in the same week of the previous season (86,103);
 The week 5/2015 there were 191 national influenza cases / cases
clinically consistent with influenza <ILI>, more than those recorded in
5/2014 week (17 cases);
 The Week 5/2015 were recorded 23 cases of acute respiratory infections
severe (SARI), 11 more than in the previous week and 13 more
compared to the same period of the previous season;
 There were no flu death this week;
 Until 03.02.2015 were 179 confirmed cases of influenza: 86 cases
virus type A (H3 subtype 42, 24 subtype H1 pdm09, 20 non-subtyped) and 93 cases
virus type B.

average, with the increasing trend in the southern counties (Constanta, Bucharest,
D?mboviţa) and North (Iasi, Suceava, Neamt, Galati), with local outbreaks (Sibiu) and
with sporadic cases in some counties, the incidence of acute respiratory infections
higher than the previous week but within the expected level.

 At national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (cases

registered 5 deaths confirmed influenza, all influenza A (H1) pdm09.

incidence of acute respiratory infections being higher than the week

 The total number of deaths confirmed influenza this season is 23, the
including 14 deaths with influenza virus A (H1) and 4 pdm09 flu deaths with
virus A (H3) and 5 with type B. In the previous season, until 03.01.2014 have
recorded nine confirmed flu deaths, all influenza A (H1) pdm09.

week 10/2015, influenza activity in Romania is evolving intensity
average by regional geographical expansion in the southern (Constanta, Bucharest,
Olt County), in the north and east (Iasi, Suceava, Bacau, Buzau, Neamt, Vrancea,
Galati), and sporadic cases in some counties, the incidence of infections
acute respiratory being lower than the previous week but still
exceeding the expected level.

 At national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (cases
flu cases clinically compatible with influenza, acute respiratory infections
top <IACRS> and pneumonia) was 121,719, 12.1% lower than
that recorded in the previous week and 31.7% compared with the
recorded in the same week of the previous season (92,406);

Week 11/2015 (09.03.2015 - 03.15.2015)

From the Center for Communicable Disease Surveillance and Control and
National Influenza Centre in INCDMI Cantacuzino appears that week 11/2015 in
Romania evolves with mild influenza activity, with regional expansion in area
south and north-east and sporadic cases in other regions, morbidity
acute respiratory infections was comparable to the previous week, exceeding the
expected.

 At national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (flu cases, cases
clinically compatible with influenza, acute upper respiratory tract infections <IACRS> and
pneumonia) was 124,024, 1.9% higher than that registered in the week
Previous and 22.7% higher than that recorded in the same week
previous season (101,032);

 At week 11/2015 there were 551 national influenza cases / cases compatible
clinical influenza <ILI>, more than those recorded in week 11/2014 (122
cases);

 At week 11/2015 were recorded 28 cases of severe acute respiratory infection (SARI)
17 less than in the previous week and 17 more than in the same period
previous season;

 2 deaths were communicated to us by the flu this week, SARI cases
confirmed influenza virus:
a man, 63 years old, Olt County, confirmed influenza A (H1) pdm09, with conditions
medical pre-existing anti-influenza vaccinated;
a man, 33 years old, Alba county, confirmed influenza A (H1) pdm09 without conditions
medical pre-existing anti-influenza vaccinated.

 The total number of deaths confirmed influenza this season is 32, of which 21
deaths from influenza virus A (H1) pdm09, 5 deaths by influenza virus A (H3) and 6 type B.
In the previous season, until 03.15.2014 there were 11 deaths confirmed by
flu, all influenza A (H1) pdm09.

 Until 15.03.2015 were 908 confirmed cases of influenza, as follows:
