The evolution of acute respiratory infections and flu season 2014-2015
Week 1/2015 (29.12.2014-04.01.2015)
From the Center for Disease Surveillance and Control
Communicable and National Influenza Center of INCDMI Cantacuzino appears that the
1/2015 week in Romania incidence of acute respiratory infections
falling within the expected level for this week. There were no
confirmed cases of influenza.
At national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (cases
flu cases clinically compatible with influenza, acute respiratory infections
top <IACRS> and pneumonia) was 38,779, 15.5% lower
versus the previous week (underreporting
characteristic holidays and school holidays) and 2.6% higher
versus the same week of the previous season
(38.207);
The week 1/2015 were recorded nationally 16 cases of influenza /
cases clinically compatible with influenza (ILI), more than the
recorded in week 1/2014 (3 cases);
The week 1/2015 were recorded 2 cases of acute respiratory infections
severe (SARI), 1 less than the previous week and as in
same period of the previous season. There were no SARI cases
confirmed as influenza virus infection.
was not communicated any flu death.
Until 01.04.2015 were confirmed three cases of influenza:
January 1 case with virus type A, subtype H3
February 1 B virus cases
Until 01/04/2015 flu were vaccinated 387,353 people in
groups at risk of vaccine distributed by the Ministry of Health.
The house weekly influenza surveillance in Europe "WISO" respectively
"Flu News Europe" developed based electronic reporting system for TESSy
European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the Office
for Europe of the World Health Organization stated that during the week
1/2015, respectively 29.12.2014-04.01.2015 period, of the 35 countries that have sent
reports regarding the intensity of influenza, 7 have reported an increase in the intensity
flu at low to medium level. The proportion of positive sentinel specimens
influenza was 16% - similar to the previous week (17%) - but with a proportion
more positive in Western Europe (26%).
Predominant circulating type was type A, and 11 of 13 countries reported as type
dominant circulating A (H3N2).
Influenza season began in Europe: the proportion of positive samples
influenza was above 10% for the third consecutive week, although most countries
still report a low intensity influenza activity.
Of all influenza viruses detected by surveillance systems
Europe sentinel subtype A (H3N2) circulated predominant.
