JAIPUR: The government has changed its strategy to prevent the spread of swine flu after noticing that this year 23 persons have succumbed to the disease so far. Meanwhile, one more person died of swine flu in Sawai Man Singh (SMS) hospital on Saturday. The 42-year-old person was suffering from the disease for more than five days. Besides, two more persons were tested positive for swine flu in SMS hospital.

Since the cases of swine flu are continuously being reported in the state, the health department has intensified its surveillance for preventing the spread of the disease. Now, instead of one survey, the officials will conduct a second survey within seven days of the first one in the swine flu-affected areas. "We have issued directions to conduct survey of the area where swine flu cases are reported immediately. But, now they have to conduct another survey of the same area after seven days of first survey. We are doing it to ensure that the area is free from swine flu," a senior health department official said.

JAIPUR: Swine flu has claimed 34 lives in Rajasthan in the months of January and February, a state Medical and Health department official said on Monday.
Out of 2,000 samples collected in the state, 162 people have tested positive, he said, and of them 34 had succumbed to H1N1 virus.
While 15 deaths were reported in Jaipur, four were from Ajmer, two in Bharatpur, Churu, Hanumangarh and Alwar, besides other places, the official said.

KOTA: A 28-year-old has succumbed to swine flu taking the death toll from the virus in Kota region to three.
The victim, Pradeep Nagar (28), a resident of Anta town in Baran and employed at Vidutt Vitran Nigam in Kota died of swine flu yesterday, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Baran, Dr Brajesh Goyal said.
The deceased was tested positive for H1N1 virus on February 23 and was undergoing treatment for about two weeks at a private hospital in Kota.
