[h=1]H1N1 claims 16 lives in Jaipur since January[/h]
Jaipur: Sixteen persons died of swine flu in Jaipur from January 1 till date in 2016.
Besides, 110 others have already been tested positive for swine flu in the same period. However, the health authorities claimed that situation is not alarming as the maximum number of cases were reported in the first two months of the year.
In comparison to the corresponding period last year, the swine flu cases reported in the state are much lesser in number this year. So far, 174 persons tested positive for the disease and 29 were died till date in 2016. But in the corresponding period last year (from January 1, 2015 to March 16, 2015) 387 persons had died of swine flu and 6,183 were tested positive for the disease.

A pregnant woman died of swine flu at an Isolation ward of JLN Hospital in Ajmer on Wednesday night.
This was the fifth death by swine flu, caused by dreaded H1N1 virus, in Ajmer. So far, 43 swine flu deaths have been reported in the state this year, a state medical and health department official said.
The latest victim, whose identity was not disclosed, belonged to Pali district and had tested positive for H1N1 on June 3. Since then she was in the isolation ward where she died yesterday.
Out of 43 deaths, swine flu claimed a maximum 17 lives in Jaipur, five in Ajmer, three in Hanumangarh and two each in Bharatpur, Karauli, Alwar, Pali, Churu and Baran and one each in several other districts since January 1, 2016.

60 DEATHS DUE TO SEASONAL DISEASES THIS YEAR IN RAJASTHAN
Swine flu, dengue and other seasonal diseases have claimed over 60 lives in different parts ofRajasthan even as authorities claim the situation is under control.A total of 14 deaths have occurred due to swine flu while scrub typhus has claimed 14 lives. Dengue has also caused six deaths this year, Director (Public Health) Medical and Health Department B R Meena told PTI.He said a maximum of 4,839 cases of malaria were reported this year which was followed by 588 reported cases of dengue in which six deaths have occurred.The number of chikungunya cases were 122. A total of 325 people suffered from scrub typhus and 14 of them have died, he said.

Comment: Director (Public Health) Medical and Health Department B R Meena apparently cannot read the document on the Health Department website which clearly shows 43 A/H1N1 related fatalities this year. This is actually low compared to some recent years. I suggest that the Director is demonstrably wrong on this point. Why? Is it a deliberate lie or is it incompetence?
