LUDHIANA: Two more swine flu deaths were reported in the city on Saturday, taking the toll to 25. The two patients were 21-year-old man from Sri Muktsar Sahib and 25-year-old woman from to Matterwara in Ludhiana district.

[h=1]Swine Flu: 61 Deaths in Punjab, Five in Haryana[/h]
Swine flu has so far claimed 61 lives in Punjab, with 30 succumbing to H1N1 virus in the state in past one month alone.

"Sixty-one persons have died due to swine flu in Punjab so far. The number of positive cases reported until yesterday stands at 163," state's nodal officer for Swine Flu Dr Gagandeep Singh Grover said.

Most of the deaths reported were from Bathinda, Ferozepur, Faridkot and Ludhiana followed by Moga and Muktsar districts, he said.

"We are going to notify this disease after which it will be mandatory to report the disease to authorities/health department. This will allow the authorities to monitor the disease and provide early warning of possible outbreaks..," Grover told PTI.

Swine flu yet to subside, dengue shows its ugly face

Swine flu has yet not subsided and now dengue has started showing its ugly face. A local resident has tested positive for dengue while a woman died of swine flu last night.
The deceased was a 63-year-old resident of Nawanshahr. With her death, the swine flu toll has reached 26 in the city hospitals.

Admin launches drive as man succumbs to swine flu

Following the death of a local trader and social activist due to swine flu, the authorities at local community health center have started preventive measures to check spreading of the disease.
Besides, administering immunising medicines, the heath authorities have launched a campaign to spread awareness.
Vipan Kumar Garg, a resident of Jawahar Nagar, died due to swine flu while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ludhiana last night and his body was brought here by a team of medical staff early in the morning.
