Increase to 157 cases of monkeypox confirmed in Peru

The number of confirmed cases of monkeypox continues to rise in Peru. On Friday night, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) indicated that there are already 157 cases of the rare disease that began with the transmission of a virus from animals to people and is similar to smallpox, but less serious. .
According to the Minsa, the cases continue to be distributed in these eight regions of the country:
1. Lima: In Metropolitan Lima there are 136 cases; in Lima Provinces, 2

3. Ica, 2 cases
4. Liberty, 5 cases
5. Tacna, 1 case
6. Loreto, 1 case
7. Piura, 1 case

THERE ARE NO CASES IN AREQUIPA
Arequipa does not register cases of monkeypox. The National Institute of Health (INS) released the results of the three samples of suspected cases and they were negative for the disease, reported the Epidemiology Directorate of the Regional Health Management (Geresa).
Suspected cases of monkeypox were reported during the week by the Health sector. The patients were detected in the provinces of Islay, Camaná and Arequipa, where they complied with medical isolation due to preventive measures.
